Nucleon strange quark content in 2+1-flavor QCD

We calculate the strange quark content of the nucleon directly from its disconnected three-point function in N_f=2+1 QCD. Chiral symmetry is crucial to avoid a possibly large contamination due to operator mixing, and is exactly preserved by employing the overlap quark action. We also use the all-to-all quark propagator and the low-mode averaging technique in order to accurately calculate the relevant nucleon correlator. Our preliminary result extrapolated to the physical point is f_{T_s} = 0.013(12)(16). This is in good agreement with our previous estimate in N_f=2 QCD as well as those from our indirect calculations using the Feynman-Hellmann theorem.

Anion height dependence of Tc for the Fe-based superconductor

We have established a plot of the anion height dependence of Tc for the typical Fe-based superconductors. The plot appeared a symmetric curve with a peak around 1.38 A. Both data at ambient pressure and under high pressure obeyed the unique curve. This plot will be one of the key strategies for both understanding the mechanism of Fe-based superconductivity and search for the new Fe-based superconductors with higher Tc.

Calculation of nucleon strange quark content with dynamical overlap quarks

We calculate the nucleon strange quark content directly from disconnected three-point functions. Numerical simulations are carried out in two-flavor QCD using the overlap quark action with up and down quark masses down to a fifth of the physical strange quark mass. To improve the statistical accuracy, we calculate the nucleon two-point functions with the low-mode averaging technique, whereas the all-to-all quark propagator is used for the disconnected quark loop. We obtain the y parameter, which is the ratio of the strange and light quark contents, y = 0.024(45) at the physical point. This is in a good agreement with our earlier calculation from the nucleon spectrum through the Feynman-Hellmann theorem.

Pressure-induced unconventional superconductivity in the heavy-fermion antiferromagnet CeIn3: An 115In-NQR study under pressure

We report on the pressure-induced unconventional superconductivity in the heavy-fermion antiferromagnet CeIn3 by means of nuclear-quadrupole-resonance (NQR) studies conducted under a high pressure. The temperature and pressure dependences of the NQR spectra have revealed a first-order quantum-phase transition (QPT) from an AFM to PM at a critical pressure Pc=2.46 GPa. Despite the lack of an AFM quantum critical point in the P-T phase diagram, we highlight the fact that the unconventional SC occurs in both phases of the AFM and PM. The nuclear spin-lattice relaxation rate 1/T1 in the AFM phase have provided evidence for the uniformly coexisting AFM+SC phase. In the HF-PM phase where AFM fluctuations are not developed, 1/T1 decreases without the coherence peak just below Tc, followed by a power-law like T dependence that indicates an unconventional SC with a line-node gap. Remarkably, Tc has a peak around Pc in the HF-PM phase as well as in the AFM phase. In other words, an SC dome exists with a maximum value of Tc = 230 mK around Pc, indicating that the origin of the pressure-induced HF SC in CeIn3 is not relevant to AFM spin fluctuations but to the emergence of the first-order QPT in CeIn3. When the AFM critical temperature is suppressed at the termination point of the first-order QPT, Pc = 2.46 GPa, the diverging AFM spin-density fluctuations emerge at the critical point from the AFM to PM. The results with CeIn3 leading to a new type of quantum criticality deserve further theoretical investigations.

Specific Heat Study of an S=1/2 Alternating Heisenberg Chain System F_5PNN Under Magnetic Field

We have measured the specific heat of an S=1/2 antiferromagnetic alternating Heisenberg chain pentafulorophenyl nitronyl nitroxide under magnetic fields up to H>H_C2. This compound has the field-induced magnetic ordered (FIMO) phase between H_C1 and H_C2. Characteristic behaviors are observed depending on the magnetic field up to above H_C2 outside of the H-T boundary for the FIMO. Temperature and field dependence of the specific heat are qualitatively in good agreement with the theoretical calculation on an S=1/2 two-leg ladder. [Wang et al. Phys. Rev. Lett 84 5399 (2000)] This agreement suggests that the observed behaviors are related with the low-energy excitation in the Tomonaga-Luttinger liquid.

Quantum Spin Chains with Nonlocally-Correlated Random Exchange Coupling and Random-Mass Dirac Fermions

S=1/2 quantum spin chains and ladders with random exchange coupling are studied by using an effective low-energy field theory and transfer matrix methods. Effects of the nonlocal correlations of exchange couplings are investigated numerically. In particular we calculate localization length of magnons, density of states, correlation functions and multifractal exponents as a function of the correlation length of the exchange couplings. As the correlation length increases, there occurs a "phase transition" and the above quantities exhibit different behaviors in two phases. This suggests that the strong-randomness fixed point of the random spin chains and random-singlet state get unstable by the long-range correlations of the random exchange couplings.

Effects of Long-Range Correlations in Random-Mass Dirac Fermions

In the previous paper, we studied the random-mass Dirac fermion in one dimension by using the transfer-matrix methods. We furthermore employed the imaginary vector potential methods for calculating the localization lengths. Especially we investigated effects of the nonlocal but short-range correlations of the random mass. In this paper, we shall study effects of the long-range correlations of the random mass especially on the delocalization transition and singular behaviours at the band center. We calculate localization lengths and density of states for various nonlocally correlated random mass. We show that there occurs a "phase transition" as the correlation length of the random Dirac mass is varied. The Thouless formula, which relates the density of states and the localization lengths, plays an important role in our investigation.

Random-Mass Dirac Fermions in an Imaginary Vector Potential (II): Long-Range Correlated Random Mass

In the previous paper, we studied the random-mass Dirac fermion in one dimension by using the transfer-matrix methods and by introducing an imaginary vector potential in order to calculate the localization lengths. Especially we considered effects of the nonlocal but short-range correlations of the random mass. In this paper, we shall study effects of the long-range correlations of the random mass especially on the delocalization transition. The results depend on how randomness is introduced in the Dirac mass.

Random-mass Dirac fermions in an imaginary vector potential: Delocalization transition and localization length

One dimensional system of Dirac fermions with a random-varying mass is studied by the transfer-matrix methods which we developed recently. We investigate the effects of nonlocal correlation of the spatial-varying Dirac mass on the delocalization transition. Especially we numerically calculate both the "typical" and "mean" localization lengths as a function of energy and the correlation length of the random mass. To this end we introduce an imaginary vector potential as suggested by Hatano and Nelson and solve the eigenvalue problem. Numerical calculations are in good agreement with the results of the analytical calculations.
