Simple restricted modules over the Heisenberg-Virasoro algebra as VOA modules

In this paper, we determine all simple restricted modules over the mirror Heisenberg-Virasoro algebra ${\mathfrak{D}}$, and the twisted Heisenberg-Virasoro algebra $\bar\mathfrak{D}$ with nonzero level. As applications, we characterize simple Whittaker modules and simple highest weight modules over ${\mathfrak{D}}$. A vertex-algebraic interpretation of our result is the classification of simple weak twisted and untwisted modules over the Heisenberg-Virasoro vertex operator algebras $\mathcal V^{c} \cong V_{Vir}^{c}\otimes M(1)$. We also present a few examples of simple restricted ${\mathfrak{D}}$-modules and $\bar\mathfrak{D}$-modules induced from simple modules over finite dimensional solvable Lie algebras, that are not tensor product modules of Virasoro modules and Heisenberg modules. This is very different from the case of simple highest weight modules over $\mathfrak{D}$ and $\bar\mathfrak{D}$ which are always tensor products of simple Virasoro modules and simple Heisenberg modules.

Tensor product weight modules for the mirror-twisted Heisenberg-Virasoro algebra

In this paper, we study irreducible weight modules with infinite dimensional weight spaces over the mirror-twisted Heisenberg-Virasoro algebra $\mathcal{D}$. More precisely, the necessary and sufficient conditions for the tensor products of irreducible highest weight modules and irreducible modules of intermediates series over $\mathcal{D}$ to be irreducible are determined by using "shifting technique". This leads to a family of new irreducible weight modules over $\mathcal{D}$. Then we obtain that any two such tensor products are isomorphic if and only if the corresponding highest weight modules and modules of intermediate series are isomorphic respectively. Also we discuss submodules of the tensor product module when it is not irreducible.

2-local derivations on the Jacobson-Witt algebras in prime characteristic

This paper initiates the study of 2-local derivations on Lie algebras over fields of prime characteristic. Let $\mathfrak{g}$ be a simple Jacobson-Witt algebra $W_n$ over a field of prime characteristic $p$ with cardinality no less than $p^n$. In this paper, we study properties of 2-local derivations on $\mathfrak{g}$, and show that every 2-local derivation on $\mathfrak{g}$ is a derivation.

Local and $2$-local automorphisms of simple generalized Witt algebras

In this paper, we prove that every invertible $2$-local or local automorphism of a simple generalized Witt algebra over any field of characteristic $0$ is an automorphism. In particular, every $2$-local or local automorphism of Witt algebras $W_n$ is an automorphism for all $n\in \mathbb{N}$. But some simple generalized Witt algebras indeed have $2$-local (and local) automorphisms that are not automorphisms.

2-local derivations on Witt algebras

In this paper, we prove that every 2-local derivation on Witt algebras $W_n, W_n^+$ or $W_n^{++} $ is a derivation for all $n=1,2,\cdots,\infty$. As a consequence we obtain that every 2-local derivation on any centerless generalized Virasoro algebra of higher rank is a derivation.

The category of weight modules for symplectic oscillator Lie algebras

The rank $n$ symplectic oscillator Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}_n$ is the semidirect product of the symplectic Lie algebra $\mathfrak{sp}_{2n}$ and the Heisenberg Lie algebra $H_n$. In this paper, we study weight modules with finite dimensional weight spaces over $\mathfrak{g}_n$. When $\dot z\neq 0$, it is shown that there is an equivalence between the full subcategory $\mathcal{O}_{\mathfrak{g}_n}[\dot z]$ of the BGG category $\mathcal{O}_{\mathfrak{g}_n}$ for $\mathfrak{g}_n$ and the BGG category $\mathcal{O}_{\mathfrak{sp}_{2n}}$ for $\mathfrak{sp}_{2n}$. Then using the technique of localization and the structure of generalized highest weight modules, we also give the classification of simple weight modules over $\mathfrak{g}_n$ with finite-dimensional weight spaces.

On the module structure of the center of hyperelliptic Krichever-Novikov algebras II

Let $R := R_{2}(p)=\mathbb{C}[t^{\pm 1}, u : u^2 = t(t-α_1)\cdots (t-α_{2n})] $ be the coordinate ring of a nonsingular hyperelliptic curve and let $\mathfrak{g}\otimes R$ be the corresponding current Lie algebra. \color{black} Here $\mathfrak g$ is a finite dimensional simple Lie algebra defined over $\mathbb C$ and \begin{equation*} p(t)= t(t-α_1)\cdots (t-α_{2n})=\sum_{k=1}^{2n+1}a_kt^k. \end{equation*} In earlier work, Cox and Im gave a generator and relations description of the universal central extension of $\mathfrak{g}\otimes R$ in terms of certain families of polynomials $P_{k,i}$ and $Q_{k,i}$ and they described how the center $Ω_R/dR$ of this universal central extension decomposes into a direct sum of irreducible representations when the automorphism group was the cyclic group $C_{2k}$ or the dihedral group $D_{2k}$. We give examples of $2n$-tuples $(α_1,\dots,α_{2n})$, which are the automorphism groups $\mathbb G_n=\text{Dic}_{n}$, $\mathbb U_n\cong D_n$ ($n$ odd), or $\mathbb U_n$ ($n$ even) of the hyperelliptic curves \begin{equation} S=\mathbb{C}[t, u: u^2 = t(t-α_1)\cdots (t-α_{2n})] \end{equation} given in [CGLZ17]. In the work below, we describe this decomposition when the automorphism group is $\mathbb U_n=D_n$, where $n$ is odd.

Biderivations and commuting linear maps on Lie algebras

Let $L$ be a Lie algebra over a field of characteristic different from $2$. If $L$ is perfect and centerless, then every skew-symmetric biderivation $δ:L\times L\to L$ is of the form $δ(x,y)=γ([x,y])$ for all $x,y\in L$, where $γ\in{\rm Cent}(L)$, the centroid of $L$. Under a milder assumption that $[c,[L,L]]=\{0\}$ implies $c=0$, every commuting linear map from $L$ to $L$ lies in ${\rm Cent}(L)$. These two results are special cases of our main theorems which concern biderivations and commuting linear maps having their ranges in an $L$-module. We provide a variety of examples, some of them showing the necessity of our assumptions and some of them showing that our results cover several results from the literature.

Simple modules over the Lie algebras of divergence zero vector fields on a torus

Let $n\ge2$ be an integer, $\mathcal{K}_n$ the Weyl algebra over the Laurent polynomial algebra $A_n=\mathbb{C} [x_1^{\pm1}, x_2^{\pm1}, ..., x_n^{\pm1}]$, and $\mathbb{S}_n$ the Lie algebra of divergence zero vector fields on an $n$-dimensional torus. For any $\mathfrak{sl}_n$-module $V$ and any module $P$ over $\mathcal{K}_n$, we define an $\mathbb{S}_n$-module structure on the tensor product $P\otimes V$. In this paper, necessary and sufficient conditions for the $\mathbb{S}_n$-modules $P\otimes V$ to be simple are given, and an isomorphism criterion for nonminuscule $\mathbb{S}_n$-modules is provided. More precisely, all nonminuscule $\mathbb{S}_n$-modules are simple, and pairwise nonisomorphic. For minuscule $\mathbb{S}_n$-modules, minimal and maximal submodules are concretely constructed.

Simple superelliptic Lie algebras

Let $m\in N$, $P(t)\in C[t]$. Then we have the Riemann surfaces (commutative algebras) $R_m(P)=C[t^{\pm1},u | u^m=P(t)]$ and $S_m(P)=C[t , u| u^m=P(t)].$ The Lie algebras $\mathcal{R}_m(P)=Der(R_m(P))$ and $\mathcal{S}_m(P)=Der(S_m(P))$ are called the $m$-th superelliptic Lie algebras associated to $P(t)$. In this paper we determine the necessary and sufficient conditions for such Lie algebras to be simple, and determine their universal central extensions and their derivation algebras. We also study the isomorphism and automorphism problem for these Lie algebras.

Simple Witt modules that are finitely generated over the cartan subalgebra

Let $d\ge1$ be an integer, $W_d$ and $\mathcal{K}_d$ be the Witt algebra and the weyl algebra over the Laurent polynomial algebra $A_d=\mathbb{C} [x_1^{\pm1}, x_2^{\pm1}, ..., x_d^{\pm1}]$, respectively. For any $\mathfrak{gl}_d$-module $M$ and any admissible module $P$ over the extended Witt algebra $\widetilde W_d$, we define a $W_d$-module structure on the tensor product $P\otimes M$. We prove in this paper that any simple $W_d$-module that is finitely generated over the cartan subalgebra is a quotient module of the $W_d$-module $P \otimes M$ for a finite dimensional simple $\mathfrak{gl}_d$-module $M$ and a simple $\mathcal{K}_d$-module $P$ that are finitely generated over the cartan subalgebra. We also characterize all simple $\mathcal{K}_d$-modules and all simple admissible $\widetilde W_d$-modules that are finitely generated over the cartan subalgebra.

Irreducible Witt modules from Weyl modules and $\mathfrak{gl}_{n}$-modules

For an irreducible module $P$ over the Weyl algebra $\mathcal{K}_n^+$ (resp. $\mathcal{K}_n$) and an irreducible module $M$ over the general liner Lie algebra $\mathfrak{gl}_n$, using Shen's monomorphism, we make $P\otimes M$ into a module over the Witt algebra $W_n^+$ (resp. over $W_n$). We obtain the necessary and sufficient conditions for $P\otimes M$ to be an irreducible module over $W_n^+$ (resp. $W_n$), and determine all submodules of $P\otimes M$ when it is reducible. Thus we have constructed a large family of irreducible weight modules with many different weight supports and many irreducible non-weight modules over $W_n^+$ and $W_n$.

New families of irreducible weight modules over $\mathfrak{sl}_{3}$

Let $n>1$ be an integer, $α\in{\mathbb C}^n$, $b\in{\mathbb C}$, and $V$ a $\mathfrak{gl}_n$-module. We define a class of weight modules $F^α_{b}(V)$ over $\sl_{n+1}$ using the restriction of modules of tensor fields over the Lie algebra of vector fields on $n$-dimensional torus. In this paper we consider the case $n=2$ and prove the irreducibility of such 5-parameter $\mathfrak{sl}_{3}$-modules $F^α_{b}(V)$ generically. All such modules have infinite dimensional weight spaces and lie outside of the category of Gelfand-Tsetlin modules. Hence, this construction yields new families of irreducible $\mathfrak{sl}_{3}$-modules.

Graded simple Lie algebras and graded simple representations

For any finitely generated abelian group $Q$, we reduce the problem of classification of $Q$-graded simple Lie algebras over an algebraically closed field of "good" characteristic to the problem of classification of gradings on simple Lie algebras. In particular, we obtain the full classification of finite-dimensional $Q$-graded simple Lie algebras over any algebraically closed field of characteristic $0$ based on the recent classification of gradings on finite dimensional simple Lie algebras. We also reduce classification of simple graded modules over any $Q$-graded Lie algebra (not necessarily simple) to classification of gradings on simple modules. For finite-dimensional $Q$-graded semisimple algebras we obtain a graded analogue of the Weyl Theorem.

Zero product determined Lie algebras

A Lie algebra $L$ over a field $\mathbb{F}$ is said to be zero product determined (zpd) if every bilinear map $f:L\times L\to \mathbb{F}$ with the property that $f(x,y)=0$ whenever $x$ and $y$ commute is a coboundary. The main goal of the paper is to determine whether or not some important Lie algebras are zpd. We show that the Galilei Lie algebra $\mathfrak{sl}_2\ltimes V$, where $V$ is a simple $\mathfrak{sl}_2$-module, is zpd if and only if $\dim V =2$ or $\dim V$ is odd. The class of zpd Lie algebras also includes the quantum torus Lie algebras $\mathcal{L}_q$ and $\mathcal{L}^+_q$, the untwisted affine Lie algebras, the Heisenberg Lie algebras, and all Lie algebras of dimension at most $3$, while the class of non-zpd Lie algebras includes the ($4$-dimensional) aging Lie algebra $\mathfrak {age}(1)$ and all Lie algebras of dimension more than $3$ in which only linearly dependent elements commute. We also give some evidence of the usefulness of the concept of a zpd Lie algebra by using it in the study of commutativity preserving linear maps.
