Fermi-LAT Detection of a Gamma-ray Excess toward the Radio-quiet Narrow-line Seyfert 1 Galaxy 1H 1934-063

We report a $\gamma$-ray excess toward the radio-quiet narrow-line Seyfert 1 galaxy 1H 1934-063 using data collected by the Large Area Telescope (LAT) on board the Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope and taking into account the LAT 16-year Source List (FL16Y). During the flare interval, the excess is detected in the 1--500 GeV band at a significance of $\sim 5.2\sigma$ (TS = 27.12), with a photon flux of $(4.94\pm2.33)\times10^{-10}$ ph cm$^{-2}$ s$^{-1}$ and a hard photon index of $\Gamma=1.50\pm0.25$. The best-fit $\gamma$-ray position is consistent with the radio position of 1H 1934-063, while the nearby source FL16Y J1936.9-0552 is not significantly detected during the same interval. In the absence of contemporaneous multiwavelength data, the broadband interpretation cannot be tightly constrained. A compact nonthermal component can produce the hard GeV emission, but the present data do not allow a unique physical interpretation. The excess therefore provides an interesting case for probing high-energy activity in radio-quiet NLS1 galaxies, although the underlying physical mechanism remains uncertain.

Exploring variation of double-peak broad-line profile in strongly variable AGNs

The geometry and kinematics of the broad-line region (BLR) in AGNs are still unclear, which is crucial for studying the physics and evolution of supermassive black holes (SMBHs) and AGNs. The broad-line profile provides valuable information on BLR geometry and kinematics. In this work, we explore the evolution of line profiles in variable AGNs based on the BLR model of Czerny \& Hryniewicz, where the BLR is driven by the radiation pressure acting on dust at the surface layers of the accretion disk. The line profiles in the low-Eddington-ratio regime show a double-peak profile, which will become a single peak at high Eddington ratios. The high metallicity of $Z\gtrsim 5Z_{\odot}$ is required to reproduce the observational anti-correlation between the peak separation of broad lines and the Eddington ratio for a sample of AGNs. For the broad lines in variable AGNs, it will take several years to several decades to change their line profile if the disk luminosity suffers strong variation in a much shorter timescale. More monitoring of the broad line and continuum in strongly variable AGNs can shed special light on BLR physics.

Optical Observations of the Young Type Ic Supernova SN 2014L in M99

We present optical spectroscopic and photometric observations of the nearby type Ic supernova (SN Ic) SN 2014L. This SN was discovered by the Tsinghua-NAOC Transient Survey (TNTS) in the nearby type-Sc spiral galaxy M99 (NGC 4254). Fitting to the early-time light curve indicates that SN 2014L was detected at only a few hours after the shock breakout, and it reached a peak brightness of $M_{\rm V} = -17.73 \pm 0.28$ mag ($L= [2.06\pm 0.50] \times 10^{42}$ erg s$^{-1}$) approximately 13 days later. SN 2014L shows a close resemblance to SN 2007gr in the photometric evolution, while it shows stronger absorption features of intermediate-mass elements (especially \CaII) in the early-time spectra. Based on simple modeling of the observed light curves, we derived the mass of synthesized $^{56}$Ni as $M_{\rm Ni} = 0.075 \pm 0.025 M_{\odot}$, and the mass and total energy of the ejecta as $M_{\rm ej} = 1.00 \pm 0.20 M_\odot$ and $E_{\rm ej}=1.45\pm0.25$ foe, respectively. Given these typical explosion parameters, the early detection, and the extensive observations, we suggest that SN 2014L could be a template sample for the investigation of SNe Ic.
