Exact solution of a quantum integrable system associated with the $G_2$ exceptional Lie algebra

A quantum integrable spin chain model associated with the $G_2$ exceptional Lie algebra is studied. By using the fusion technique, the closed recursive relations among the fused transfer matrices are obtained. These identities allow us to derive the exact energy spectrum and Bethe ansatz equations of the system based on polynomial analysis. The present method provides a unified treatment to investigate the Bethe ansatz solutions for both periodic and non-diagonal open boundary conditions associated with exceptional Lie algebras.

Off-diagonal approach to the exact solution of quantum integrable systems

We investigate the $t$-$W$ scheme for the anti-ferromagnetic XXX spin chain under both periodic and open boundary conditions. We propose a new parametrization of the eigenvalues of transfer matrix. Based on it, we obtain the exact solution of the system. By analyzing the distribution of zero roots at the ground state, we obtain the explicit expressions of the eigenfunctions of the transfer matrix and the associated $\mathbb{W}$ operator (see (2.8) and (3.20)) in the thermodynamic limit. We find that the ratio of the quantum determinant with the eigenvalue of $\mathbb{W}$ operator for the ground state exhibits exponential decay behavior. Thus this fact ensures that the so-called inversion relation (the $t-W$ relation without the $W$-term) can be used to study the ground state properties of quantum integrable systems with/without $U(1)$-symmetry in the thermodynamic limit.

Off-diagonal Bethe Ansatz for the $D^{(1)}_3$ model

The exact solutions of the $D^{(1)}_3$ model (or the $so(6)$ quantum spin chain) with either periodic or general integrable open boundary conditions are obtained by using the off-diagonal Bethe Ansatz. From the fusion, the complete operator product identities are obtained, which are sufficient to enable us to determine spectrum of the system. Eigenvalues of the fused transfer matrices are constructed by the $T-Q$ relations for the periodic case and by the inhomogeneous $T-Q$ one for the non-diagonal boundary reflection case. The present method can be generalized to deal with the $D^{(1)}_{n}$ model directly.

Exact surface energy of the $D^{(1)}_2$ spin chain with generic non-diagonal boundary reflections

The exact solution of the $D^{(1)}_2$ quantum spin chain with generic non-diagonal boundary reflections is obtained. It is found that the generating functional of conserved quantities of the system can be factorized as the product of transfer matrices of two anisotropic $XXZ$ spin chains with open boundary conditions. By using the factorization identities and the fusion technique, the eigenvalues and the Bethe ansatz equations of the model are obtained. The eigenvalues are also parameterized by the zero roots of the transfer matrix, and the patterns of root distributions are obtained. Based on them, ground states energy and the surface energies induced by the twisted boundary magnetic fields in the thermodynamic limit are obtained. These results are checked by the numerical calculations. The corresponding isotropic limit is also discussed. The results given in this paper are the foundation to study the exact physical properties of high rank $D^{(1)}_{n}$ model by using the nested processes.

Spectrum of the quantum integrable $D^{(2)}_2$ spin chain with generic boundary fields

Exact solution of the quantum integrable $D^{(2)}_2$ spin chain with generic integrable boundary fields is constructed. It is found that the transfer matrix of this model can be factorized as the product of those of two open staggered anisotropic XXZ spin chains. Based on this identity, the eigenvalues and Bethe ansatz equations of the $D^{(2)}_2$ model are derived via off-diagonal Bethe ansatz.

Exact solution of the quantum integrable model associated with the twisted $D^{(2)}_3$ algebra

We generalize the nested off-diagonal Bethe ansatz method to study the quantum chain associated with the twisted $D^{(2)}_3$ algebra (or the $D^{(2)}_3$ model) with either periodic or integrable open boundary conditions. We obtain the intrinsic operator product identities among the fused transfer matrices and find a way to close the recursive fusion relations, which makes it possible to determinate eigenvalues of transfer matrices with an arbitrary anisotropic parameter $η$. Based on them, and the asymptotic behaviors and values at certain points, we construct eigenvalues of transfer matrices in terms of homogeneous $T-Q$ relations for the periodic case and inhomogeneous ones for the open case with some off-diagonal boundary reflections. The associated Bethe ansatz equations are also given. The method and results in this paper can be generalized to the $D^{(2)}_{n+1}$ model and other high rank integrable models.

Root patterns and energy spectra of quantum integrable systems without $U(1)$ symmetry: antiperiodic $XXZ$ spin chain

Finding out root patterns of quantum integrable models is an important step to study their physical properties in the thermodynamic limit. Especially for models without $U(1)$ symmetry, their spectra are usually given by inhomogeneous $T-Q$ relations and the Bethe root patterns are still unclear. In this paper with the antiperiodic $XXZ$ spin chain as an example, an analytic method to derive both the Bethe root patterns and the transfer-matrix root patterns in the thermodynamic limit is proposed. Based on them the ground state energy and elementary excitations in the gapped regime are derived. The present method provides an universal procedure to compute physical properties of quantum integrable models in the thermodynamic limit.

T-W relation and free energy of the Heisenberg chain at a finite temperature

A new nonlinear integral equation (NLIE) describing the thermodynamics of the Heisenberg spin chain is derived based on the t-W relation of the quantum transfer matrices. The free energy of the system in a magnetic field is thus obtained by solving the NLIE. This method can be generalized to other lattice quantum integrable models. Taking the SU(3)-invariant quantum spin chain as an example, we construct the corresponding NLIEs and compute the free energy. The present results coincide exactly with those obtained via other methods previously.

Exact surface energy and helical spinons in the XXZ spin chain with arbitrary non-diagonal boundary fields

An analytic method is proposed to compute the surface energy and elementary excitations of the XXZ spin chain with generic non-diagonal boundary fields. For the gapped case, in some boundary parameter regimes the contributions of the two boundary fields to the surface energy are non-additive. Such a correlation effect between the two boundaries also depends on the parity of the site number $N$ even in the thermodynamic limit $N\to\infty$. For the gapless case, contributions of the two boundary fields to the surface energy are additive due to the absence of long-range correlation in the bulk. Although the $U(1)$ symmetry of the system is broken, exact spinon-like excitations, which obviously do not carry spin-$\frac12$, are observed. The present method provides an universal procedure to deal with quantum integrable systems either with or without $U(1)$ symmetry.

Graded Off-diagonal Bethe ansatz solution of the $SU(2|2)$ spin chain model with generic integrable boundaries

The graded off-diagonal Bethe ansatz method is proposed to study supersymmetric quantum integrable models (i.e., quantum integrable models associated with superalgebras). As an example, the exact solutions of the $SU(2|2)$ vertex model with both periodic and generic open boundary conditions are constructed. By generalizing the fusion techniques to the supersymmetric case, a closed set of operator product identities about the transfer matrices are derived, which allows us to give the eigenvalues in terms of homogeneous or inhomogeneous $T-Q$ relations. The method and results provided in this paper can be generalized to other high rank supersymmetric quantum integrable models.

Exact ground state and elementary excitations of a topological spin chain

A novel Bethe Ansatz scheme is proposed to calculate physical properties of quantum integrable systems without $U(1)$ symmetry. As an example, the anti-periodic XXZ spin chain, a typical correlated many-body system embedded in a topological manifold, is examined. Conserved "momentum" and "charge" operators are constructed despite the absence of translational invariance and $U(1)$ symmetry. The ground state energy and elementary excitations are derived exactly. It is found that two intrinsic fractional (one half) zero modes accounting for the double degeneracy exist in the eigenstates. The elementary excitations show quite a different picture from that of a periodic chain. This method can be applied to other quantum integrable models either with or without $U(1)$ symmetry.

Off-diagonal Bethe Ansatz on the $so(5)$ spin chain

The $so(5)$ (i.e., $B_2$) quantum integrable spin chains with both periodic and non-diagonal boundaries are studied via the off-diagonal Bethe Ansatz method. By using the fusion technique, sufficient operator product identities (comparing to those in [1]) to determine the spectrum of the transfer matrices are derived. For the periodic case, we recover the results obtained in \cite{NYReshetikhin1}, while for the non-diagonal boundary case, a new inhomogeneous $T-Q$ relation is constructed. The present method can be directly generalized to deal with the $so(2n+1)$ (i.e., $B_n$) quantum integrable spin chains with general boundaries.

Exact solution of the $sp(4)$ integrable spin chain with generic boundaries

The off-diagonal Bethe ansatz method is generalized to the integrable model associated with the $sp(4)$ (or $C_2$) Lie algebra. By using the fusion technique, we obtain the complete operator product identities among the fused transfer matrices. These relations, together with some asymptotic behaviors and values of the transfer matrices at certain points, enable us to determine the eigenvalues of the transfer matrices completely. For the periodic boundary condition case, we recover the same $T-Q$ relations obtained via conventional Bethe ansatz methods previously, while for the off-diagonal boundary condition case, the eigenvalues are given in terms of inhomogeneous $T-Q$ relations, which could not be obtained by the conventional Bethe ansatz methods. The method developed in this paper can be directly generalized to generic $sp(2n)$ (i.e., $C_n$) integrable model.

Exact solution of an integrable $J_1-J_2$ spin chain model

An integrable Heisenberg spin chain with nearest-neighbour couplings, next-nearest-neighbour couplings and Dzyaloshinski-Moriya interacton is constructed. The integrability of the model is proven. Based on the Bethe Ansatz solutions, the ground state and the elementary excitations are studied. It is shown that the spinon excitation spectrum of the present system possesses a novel triple arched structure. The method provided in this paper is general to construct new integrable models with next-nearest-neighbour couplings.

Twisted boundary energy and low energy excitation of the XXZ spin torus at the ferromagnetic region

We investigate the thermodynamic limit of the one-dimensional ferromagnetic XXZ model with twisted (or antiperiodic ) boundary condition. It is shown that the distribution of the Bethe roots of the inhomogeneous Bethe Ansatz equations (BAEs) for the ground state as well as for the low-lying excited states satisfy the string hypothesis, although the inhomogeneous BAEs are not in the standard product form which has made the study of the corresponding thermodynamic limit nontrivial. We also obtain the twisted boundary energy induced by the non-trivial twisted boundary conditions in the thermodynamic limit.

Thermodynamic limit and twisted boundary energy of the XXZ spin chain with antiperiodic boundary condition

We investigate the thermodynamic limit of the inhomogeneous T-Q relation of the antiferromagnetic XXZ spin chain with antiperiodic boundary condition. It is shown that the contribution of the inhomogeneous term at the ground state can be neglected when the system-size N tends to infinity, which enables us to reduce the inhomogeneous Bethe ansatz equations (BAEs) to the homogeneous ones. Then the quantum numbers at the ground states are obtained, by which the system with arbitrary size can be studied. We also calculate the twisted boundary energy of the system.

Bethe states of the trigonometric SU(3) spin chain with generic open boundaries

By combining the algebraic Bethe ansatz and the off-diagonal Bethe ansatz, we investigate the trigonometric SU(3) model with generic open boundaries. The eigenvalues of the transfer matrix are given in terms of an inhomogeneous T-Q relation, and the corresponding eigenstates are expressed in terms of nested Bethe-type eigenstates which have well-defined homogeneous limit. This exact solution provides a basis for further analyzing the thermodynamic properties and correlation functions of the anisotropic models associated with higher rank algebras.

A convenient basis for the Izergin-Korepin model

We propose a convenient orthogonal basis of the Hilbert space for the Izergin-Korepin model (or the quantum spin chain associated with the $A^{(2)}_{2}$ algebra). It is shown that the monodromy-matrix elements acting on the basis take relatively simple forms (c.f. acting on the original basis ), which is quite similar as that in the so-called F-basis for the quantum spin chains associated with $A$-type (super)algebras. As an application, we present the recursive expressions of Bethe states in the basis for the Izergin-Korepin model.
