Macroscopic fluctuation theory for the multi-time statistics of current in non-stationary diffusive systems

The statistics of current fluctuations has long been a central object of study in non-equilibrium physics. Most existing work has focused on one-time statistics, while their multi-time generalisation remains comparatively less explored. We address this gap by extending the fluctuating hydrodynamics framework of Macroscopic Fluctuation Theory (MFT) to study multi-time statistics in the non-stationary state of a diffusive system on an infinite line. For the simplest cases of a non-interacting lattice gas and hard-core Brownian point particles, we present explicit solution of the MFT leading to multi-time large-deviation statistics. For generic systems, the MFT is solved perturbatively, yielding explicit results for two-time correlations. These reveal that the connection between current fluctuations and fractional Brownian motion, previously observed for flat initial conditions, does not persist for step initial conditions. We independently verify these hydrodynamic results by solving the corresponding microscopic dynamics for the non-interacting gas and for the symmetric simple exclusion process. Additional confirmation comes from numerical simulations.

An exactly solvable macroscopic fluctuation theory of single-file diffusion

Single-file diffusion is a ubiquitous phenomenon in low-dimensional systems, arising in transport inside narrow channels. Its natural continuum model is a one-dimensional gas of extended Brownian hard rods (BHR). Perhaps owing to the perceived intractability of this problem, much of the literature has traditionally focused on lattice exclusion models, where integrability methods have yielded remarkable, albeit limited, exact results. A major recent advance comes from a formal solution of macroscopic fluctuation theory (MFT) for the exclusion process. Yet, despite the formal solution, only a handful of properties have been made explicit. We show that the corresponding MFT of the extended BHR gas is in fact exactly solvable through a canonical transformation. We demonstrate this by explicit computation of the large-deviation statistics of the tracer-position and integrated-current in both annealed and quenched ensembles. We further show that an analogous canonical transformation applies to the MFT of lattice gases with finite-volume exclusion, yielding corresponding tracer and current statistics. We validate our results using rare-event simulations for both the continuum and the lattice models.

Effect of slow bonds on current fluctuations in the symmetric simple exclusion process

The symmetric simple exclusion process (SSEP) is a paradigmatic model of classical non-equilibrium dynamics. Exact results for large deviations of particle current in the SSEP have been obtained in various settings using integrability-based methods. In this Article, we discuss how these results are modified in the presence of localized slow bonds. We consider three conventional geometries: (a) a finite one-dimensional lattice weakly coupled to unequal reservoirs at its boundaries, (b) a semi-infinite one-dimensional lattice weakly coupled to a boundary reservoir, and (c) an infinite one-dimensional lattice with localized slow bonds near the origin. For each case, we present exact expressions for the large deviation function of current and validate them through rare-event simulations based on the cloning algorithm. In connection with our results, we present an elementary derivation of the exact large deviation function for the current in the semi-infinite SSEP, complementing recent results obtained through more elaborate techniques.

CXMArena: Unified Dataset to benchmark performance in realistic CXM Scenarios

Large Language Models (LLMs) hold immense potential for revolutionizing Customer Experience Management (CXM), particularly in contact center operations. However, evaluating their practical utility in complex operational environments is hindered by data scarcity (due to privacy concerns) and the limitations of current benchmarks. Existing benchmarks often lack realism, failing to incorporate deep knowledge base (KB) integration, real-world noise, or critical operational tasks beyond conversational fluency. To bridge this gap, we introduce CXMArena, a novel, large-scale synthetic benchmark dataset specifically designed for evaluating AI in operational CXM contexts. Given the diversity in possible contact center features, we have developed a scalable LLM-powered pipeline that simulates the brand's CXM entities that form the foundation of our datasets-such as knowledge articles including product specifications, issue taxonomies, and contact center conversations. The entities closely represent real-world distribution because of controlled noise injection (informed by domain experts) and rigorous automated validation. Building on this, we release CXMArena, which provides dedicated benchmarks targeting five important operational tasks: Knowledge Base Refinement, Intent Prediction, Agent Quality Adherence, Article Search, and Multi-turn RAG with Integrated Tools. Our baseline experiments underscore the benchmark's difficulty: even state of the art embedding and generation models achieve only 68% accuracy on article search, while standard embedding methods yield a low F1 score of 0.3 for knowledge base refinement, highlighting significant challenges for current models necessitating complex pipelines and solutions over conventional techniques.

Alignment For Performance Improvement in Conversation Bots

This paper shows that alignment methods can achieve superior adherence to guardrails compared to instruction fine-tuning alone in conversational agents, also known as bots, within predefined guidelines or 'guardrails'. It examines traditional training approaches such as instruction fine-tuning and the recent advancements in direct alignment methods like Identity Preference Optimization (IPO), and Kahneman-Tversky Optimization (KTO). The effectiveness of alignment techniques both pre and post-instruction tuning is highlighted, illustrating their potential to optimize conversational bots in domains that require strict adherence to specified rules, such as customer care.

Large deviations of current for the symmetric simple exclusion process on a semi-infinite line, and on an infinite line with a slow bond

Two influential exact results in classical one-dimensional diffusive transport are about current statistics for the symmetric simple exclusion process: one in the stationary state on a finite line coupled with two unequal reservoirs at the boundaries, and the other in the non-stationary state on an infinite line. We present the corresponding result for the intermediate geometry of a semi-infinite line coupled with a single reservoir. This result is obtained using the fluctuating hydrodynamics approach of macroscopic fluctuation theory and confirmed by rare event simulations using a cloning algorithm. We apply our exact result for solving several related challenging problems, namely, the full counting statistics in presence of a defect bond, exclusion process with localized injection, survival of a tagged particle in presence of an absorbing boundary, and the stretched exponential decay in a kinetically constrained model.

Devising Malware Characterstics using Transformers

With the increasing number of cybersecurity threats, it becomes more difficult for researchers to skim through the security reports for malware analysis. There is a need to be able to extract highly relevant sentences without having to read through the entire malware reports. In this paper, we are finding relevant malware behavior mentions from Advanced Persistent Threat Reports. This main contribution is an opening attempt to Transformer the approach for malware behavior analysis.

New Failure Rate Model for Iterative Software Development Life Cycle Process

Software reliability models are one of the most generally used mathematical tool for estimation of reliability, failure rate and number of remaining faults in the software. Existing software reliability models are designed to follow waterfall software development life cycle process. These existing models do not take advantage of iterative software development process. In this paper, a new failure rate model centered on iterative software development life cycle process has been developed. It aims to integrate a new modulation factor for incorporating varying needs in each phase of iterative software development process. It comprises imperfect debugging with the possibility of fault introduction and removal of multiple faults in an interval as iterative development of the software proceeds. The proposed model has been validated on twelve iterations of Eclipse software failure dataset and nine iterations of Java Development toolkit (JDT) software failure dataset. Parameter estimation for the proposed model has been done by hybrid Particle Swarm Optimization and Gravitational Search Algorithm. Experimental results in-terms of goodness-of-fit shows that proposed model has outperformed Jelinski Moranda, Shick Wolverton, Goel Okummotto Imperfect debugging, GS Mahapatra, Modified Shick Wolverton in 83.33 % of iterations for eclipse dataset and 77.77% of iterations for JDT dataset.

Military Dog Based Optimizer and its Application to Fake Review

Over the last three decades more then sixty meta-heuristic algorithms have been proposed by the various authors. Such algorithms are inspired from physical phenomena, animal behavior or evolutionary concepts. These algorithms have been widely used for solving the various real world optimization problems. Researchers are continuously working to improve the existing algorithms and also proposing new algorithms that are giving competitive results as compared to the existing algorithms present in the literature. In this paper a novel meta heuristic algorithm based on military dogs squad is introduced. The proposed algorithm mimics the searching capability of the trained military dogs. Military dogs have strong smell senses by which they are able to search the suspicious objects like bombs, wildlife scats, currency, or blood as well as they can communicate with each other by their barking. The performance of the proposed algorithm is tested on 17 benchmark functions and compared with five other meta-heuristics namely particle swarm optimization (PSO), multiverse optimizer (MVO), genetic algorithm (GA), probability based learning (PBIL) and evolutionary strategy (ES). The results are validated in terms of mean and standard deviation of the fitness value. The convergence behavior and consistency of the results have been also validated by plotting convergence graphs and BoxPlots. Further the, proposed algorithm is successfully utilized to solve the real world fake review detection problem. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm outperforms the other considered algorithms on the majority of performance parameters.

Unified Graph based Multi-Cue Feature Fusion for Robust Visual Tracking

Visual Tracking is a complex problem due to unconstrained appearance variations and dynamic environment. Extraction of complementary information from the object environment via multiple features and adaption to the target's appearance variations are the key problems of this work. To this end, we propose a robust object tracking framework based on Unified Graph Fusion (UGF) of multi-cue to adapt to the object's appearance. The proposed cross-diffusion of sparse and dense features not only suppresses the individual feature deficiencies but also extracts the complementary information from multi-cue. This iterative process builds robust unified features which are invariant to object deformations, fast motion, and occlusion. Robustness of the unified feature also enables the random forest classifier to precisely distinguish the foreground from the background, adding resilience to background clutter. In addition, we present a novel kernel-based adaptation strategy using outlier detection and a transductive reliability metric.

Robust Object Tracking with Crow Search Optimized Multi-cue Particle Filter

Particle Filter(PF) is used extensively for estimation of target Non-linear and Non-gaussian state. However, its performance suffers due to inherent problem of sample degeneracy and impoverishment. In order to address this, we propose a novel resampling method based upon Crow Search Optimization to overcome low performing particles detected as outlier. Proposed outlier detection mechanism with transductive reliability achieve faster convergence of proposed PF tracking framework. In addition, we present an adaptive fuzzy fusion model to integrate multi-cue extracted for each evaluated particle. Automatic boosting and suppression of particles using proposed fusion model not only enhances performance of resampling method but also achieve optimal state estimation. Performance of the proposed tracker is evaluated over 12 benchmark video sequences and compared with state-of-the-art solutions. Qualitative and quantitative results reveals that the proposed tracker not only outperforms existing solutions but also efficiently handle various tracking challenges. On average of outcome, we achieve CLE of 7.98 and F-measure of 0.734.

Short range networks of wearables for safer mobility in smart cities

Ensuring safe and efficient mobility is a critical issue for smart city operators. Increasing safety not only reduces the likelihood of road injuries and fatalities, but also reduces traffic congestion and disruptions caused by accidents, increasing efficiency. While new vehicles are increasingly equipped with semi-automation, the added costs will initially limit the penetration rate of these systems. An inexpensive way to replace or augment these systems is to create networks of wearables (smart glasses, watches) that exchange positional and path data at a very fast rate between all users, identify collision risks and feedback collision resolution information to all users in an intuitive way through their smart glasses.
