Functional Epistemology "Nullifies" Dyson's Rebuttal of Perturbation Theory

Functional epistemology is about ways to access functional objects by using varieties of methods and procedures. Not all such means are equally capable of reproducing these functions in the desired consistency and resolution. Dyson's argument against the perturbative expansion of quantum field theoretic terms, in a radical form (never pursued by Dyson), is an example of epistemology taken as ontology.

The Mosquito incident and the need-(not-)to-know

I am reporting here how professor Cristian Sorin Calude, henceforth called Cris, became involved in the "Mosquito incident". More generally, the relationship between the single individual vis-a-vis the state or collective is reviewed, with special emphasis to need-(not)-to-know secrets.

Varieties of contextuality based on probability and structural nonembeddability

Different analytic notions of contextuality fall into two major groups: probabilistic and strong notions of contextuality. Kochen and Specker's Theorem~0 is a demarcation criterion for differentiating between those groups. Whereas probabilistic contextuality still allows classical models, albeit with nonclassical probabilities, the logico-algebraic "strong" form of contextuality characterizes collections of quantum observables that have no faithfully embedding into (extended) Boolean algebras. Both forms indicate a classical in- or under-determination that can be termed "value indefinite" and formalized by partial functions of theoretical computer sciences.

Noncontextual coloring of orthogonality hypergraphs

We discuss representations and colorings of orthogonality hypergraphs in terms of their two-valued states interpretable as classical truth assignments. Such hypergraphs, if they allow for a faithful orthogonal representation, have quantum mechanical realizations in terms of intertwined contexts or maximal observables that are widely discussed as empirically testable criteria for contextuality. Reconstruction is possible for the class of perfectly separable hypergraphs. Colorings can be constructed from a minimal set of two-valued states. Some examples from exempt categories are presented that either cannot be reconstructed by two-valued states or whose two-valued states cannot yield a chromatic number that is equal to the maximal clique number.

Generalized Householder transformations

The Householder transformation, allowing a rewrite of probabilities into expectations of dichotomic observables, is generalized in terms of its spectral decomposition. The dichotomy is modulated by allowing more than one negative eigenvalue or by abandoning binaries altogether, yielding generalized operator-valued arguments for contextuality. We also discuss a form of contextuality by the variation of the functional relations of the operators, in particular by additivity.

Multistatic radar measurements of Unidentified Aerial Phenomena by cell and open access radio networks

Measurements of a wide variety of aerial phenomena such as drones, birds, planes, and other aerial objects can in principle be obtained from open access radio detection and ranging equipment. Passive strategies involve existing cell towers as transmitters and cell phones as receivers. Another active possibility is the creation of a multistatic, possibly phased array, network of transmission and receiving stations by open-source realizations such as GNU radio. We also suggest provision of uncorrelated targets or anomalies from existing military sources.

Completing bases in four dimensions

Criteria and constructive methods for the completion of an incomplete basis of, or context in, a four-dimensional Hilbert space by (in)decomposable vectors are given.

Generalized Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger arguments from quantum logical analysis

The Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ) argument against noncontextual local hidden variables is recast in quantum logical terms of fundamental propositions, states and probabilities. Unlike Kochen-Specker- and Hardy-like configurations, this operator based argument proceeds within four nonintertwining contexts. The nonclassical performance of the GHZ argument is due to the choice or filtering of observables with respect to a particular state. We study the varieties of GHZ games one could play in these four contexts, depending on the chosen state of the GHZ basis.

Interdimensionality

In this speculative analysis, interdimensionality is introduced as the (co)existence of universes embedded into larger ones. These interdimensional universes may be isolated or intertwined, suggesting a variety of interdimensional intrinsic phenomena that can only be understood in terms of the outer, extrinsic reality.

Quantum music, quantum arts and their perception

The expression of human art, and supposedly sentient art in general, is modulated by the available rendition, receiving and communication techniques. The components or instruments of these techniques ultimately exhibit a physical, in particular, quantum layer, which in turn translates into physical and technological capacities to comprehend and utilize what is possible in our universe. In this sense, we can apply a sort of Church-Turing thesis to art, or at least to its rendition.

Quantum randomness is chimeric

If quantum mechanics is taken for granted the randomness derived from it may be vacuous or even delusional, yet sufficient for many practical purposes. "Random" quantum events are intimately related to the emergence of both space-time as well as the identification of physical properties through which so-called objects are aggregated. We also present a brief review of the metaphysics of indeterminism.

Quantum violation of the Suppes-Zanotti inequalities and "contextuality"

The Suppes-Zanotti inequalities involving the joint expectations of just three binary quantum observables are (re-)derived by the hull computation of the respective correlation polytope. A min-max calculation reveals its maximal quantum violations correspond to a generalized Tsirelson bound. Notions of "contextuality" motivated by such violations are critically reviewed.

Vector computation

Quantum physical resources are directional quantities that can be formalized by unit vectors or the associated orthogonal projection operators. When compared to classical computational states which are elements of (power) sets vector computations offer (dis)advantages.

Extending Kolmogorov's axioms for a generalized probability theory on collections of contexts

Kolmogorov's axioms of probability theory are extended to conditional probabilities among distinct (and sometimes intertwining) contexts. Formally, this amounts to row stochastic matrices whose entries characterize the conditional probability to find some observable (postselection) in one context, given an observable (preselection) in another context. As the respective probabilities need not (but, depending on the physical/model realization, can) be of the Born rule type, this generalizes approaches to quantum probabilities by Aufféves and Grangier, which in turn are inspired by Gleason's theorem.

What makes quantum clicks special?

This is an elaboration about the "extra" advantage of the performance of quantized physical systems over classical ones; both in terms of single outcomes as well as probabilistic predictions. From a formal point of view, it is based upon entities related to (dual) vectors in (dual) Hilbert spaces, as compared to the Boolean algebra of subsets of a set and the additive measures they support.
