Neighbour-count dependent thinning of Poisson processes: correlation structure and Poisson approximation

We study a local thinning $T_r$ that retains a point with probability $p(n_r)$, where $n_r$ counts neighbors within radius $r$. For Poisson input with spatially varying intensity, we obtain an exact intensity via a Poisson--mixture formula and a small-radius expansion. For homogeneous input we give a closed-form pair correlation based on the three-region overlap . First-order contact-scale asymptotics identify how the values $p(0),p(1),p(2)$ govern inhibition or clustering. On bounded windows we approximate $T_r(X)$ by a Poisson process with matched intensity through three routes: (i) a direct coupling to an independent thinning giving a total-variation bound; (ii) a Laplace-functional error supported at distances $\le 2r$ and of order $|W|\,λ^2 r^d$; and (iii) a Stein bound in the Barbour--Brown $d_2$ metric controlled by $\int_{\|h\|\le 2r} |g(h)-1|\,dh$.

A law of thin processes with neighbour-count thinning

We consider the superposition $S_n$ of $n$ i.i.d. simple point processes on $\mathbb{R}^d$ and apply a dependent thinning $T_n$, where the retention probability of a point depends on its local neighbour count within a radius $r_n$. While superpositions under independent thinning converge to Poisson processes, we show that under a critical geometric scaling $n v_d r_n^d \to τ\in (0,\infty)$, the local interactions are transformed in the limit into an inhomogeneous Poisson point process with modified intensity. We prove that the thinned sequence $T_n(S_n)$ converges to a Poisson process with a non-linearly modified intensity $\tildeλ(x) = λ(x)α(τλ(x))$.

Maximum principle for optimal control of interacting particle system: stochastic flow model

In this paper, we consider the stochastic optimal control problem for the interacting particle system. We obtain the stochastic maximum principle of the optimal control system by introducing a generalized backward stochastic differential equation with interaction. The existence and uniqueness of the solution of this type of equation is proved. We derive the necessary condition that the optimal control should satisfy. As an application, the linear quadratic case is investigated to illustrate the main results.

Optimal Filtering for Interacting Particle Systems

In this paper, we study the optimal filtering problem for a interacting particle system generated by stochastic differential equations with interaction. By using Malliavin calculus, we construct the differential equation of the covariance process and transform the filter problem to an optimal control problem. Finally we give the necessary condition that the coefficient of the optimal filter should satisfy
