Special fibers of coordinate sections of Hankel Matrices

We investigate the special fibers associated with certain coordinate sections of Hankel determinantal ideals. We provide explicit descriptions of their defining equations, showing that these equations admit a natural matrix structure. In particular, we prove that they are Cohen-Macaulay and cannot, in general, be minimally generated only by quadrics and cubics. Instead, we show that the degrees of their minimal generators grow with the size of the minors involved. In one case, we also prove that the Rees algebra is of fiber type. Additionally, we compute algebraic invariants of these special fibers. Our results partially build on and extend the work of Ramkumar and Sammartano on $2$-determinantal ideals and answer some of the questions posed by Cunha, Mostafazadehfard, Ramos, and Simis in earlier work.

Rainbow Free Colorings and Rainbow Numbers for $x-y=z^2$

An exact r-coloring of a set $S$ is a surjective function $c:S \rightarrow \{1, 2, \ldots,r\}$. A rainbow solution to an equation over $S$ is a solution such that all components are a different color. We prove that every 3-coloring of $\mathbb{N}$ with an upper density greater than $(4^s-1)/(3 \cdot 4^s)$ contains a rainbow solution to $x-y=z^k$. The rainbow number for an equation in the set $S$ is the smallest integer $r$ such that every exact $r$-coloring has a rainbow solution. We compute the rainbow numbers of $\mathbb{Z}_p$ for the equation $x-y=z^k$, where $p$ is prime and $k\geq 2$.

Rainbow Numbers of $\mathbb{Z}_n$ for $a_1x_1+a_2x_2+a_3x_3 =b$

An exact $r$-coloring of a set $S$ is a surjective function $c:S\to [r]$. The rainbow number of a set $S$ for equation $eq$ is the smallest integer $r$ such that every exact $r$-coloring of $S$ contains a rainbow solution to $eq$. In this paper, the rainbow number of $\Z_p$, for $p$ prime and the equation $a_1x_1 + a_2x_2 + a_3x_3 = b$ is determined. The rainbow number of $\Z_{n}$, for a natural number $n$, is determined under certain conditions.

Generalized Newton Complementary Duals of Monomial Ideals

Given a monomial ideal in a polynomial ring over a field, we define the generalized Newton complementary dual of the given ideal. We show good properties of such duals including linear quotients and isomorphisms between the special fiber rings. We construct the cellular free resolutions of duals of strongly stable ideals generated in the same degree. When the base ideal is generated in degree two, we provide an explicit description of cellular free resolution of the dual of a compatible generalized stable ideal.

LCM Duals of Monomial Ideals

Given a monomial ideal in a polynomial ring over a field, we define the LCM-dual of the given ideal. We show good properties of LCM-duals. Including the isomorphism between the special fiber of LCM-dual and the special fiber of given monomial ideal. We show the special fibers of LCM-duals of strongly stable ideals are normal Cohen-Macaulay Koszul domains. We provide an explicit describing of minimal free resolutions of LCM-duals of strongly stable ideals.

Regularity of Tor for weakly stable ideals

It is proved that if $I$ and $J$ are weakly stable ideals in a polynomial ring $R=k[x_1,\ldots,x_n]$, with $k$ a field, then the regularity of $\text{Tor}^R_i(R/I,R/J)$ has the expected upper bound. We also give a bound for the regularity of $\text{Ext}_R^i(R/I,R)$ for $I$ a weakly stable ideal.
