A distance between maps via interleavings of relative Sullivan algebras

In this article, we consider extended tame persistence commutative differential graded algebras (CDGAs) associated with relative Sullivan algebras. In particular, if the relative Sullivan algebra is a model for a map between spaces, then the persistence CDGA is isomorphic to the persistence object obtained by a Postnikov tower for the map with the polynomial de Rham functor in the homotopy category of extended tame persistence CDGAs. Moreover, the interleaving distance in the homotopy category (IHC) in the sense of Lanari and Scoccola enables us to introduce a pseudodistance on the homotopy set of maps via the persistence CDGA models for maps. In contrast to persistence cochain complexes, the IHC of persistence CDGAs does not coincide with the cohomology interleaving distance in general. Due to the reason, we also discuss formalities of a persistence CDGA with interleavings. Computational examples of the pseudodistances between maps are showcased.

The equalities of interleaving distances and cohomology interleavings of spaces over $BS^1$

The cohomology interleaving distance (CohID) is defined and considered in the category of persistent differential graded modules over a field. As a consequence, we show that, in the category, the distance coincides with the homotopy commutative interleaving distance, the homotopy interleaving distance originally due to Blumberg and Lesnick, and the interleaving distance in the homotopy category in the sense of Lanari and Scoccola. Moreover, we apply the CohID to spaces over the classifying space $BS^1$ of the circle group via the singular cochain functor. Then, upper and lower bounds of the CohID are investigated with the cup-lengths of spaces over $BS^1$. As a computational example, we explicitly determine the CohID for complex projective spaces by utilizing the bottleneck distance of barcodes associated with the cohomology of the spaces.

Towards Riemannian diffeology

We introduce a framework for Riemannian diffeology. To this end, we use the tangent functor in the sense of Blohmann and one of the options of a metric on a diffeological space in the sense of Iglesias-Zemmour. As a consequence, the category consisting of weak Riemannian diffeological spaces and isometries is established. With a technical condition for a definite weak Riemannian metric, we show that the pseudodistance induced by the metric is indeed a distance. As examples of weak Riemannian diffeological spaces, an adjunction space of manifolds, a space of smooth maps and the mixed one are considered.

On Félix-Tanré rational models for polyhedral products

The Félix-Tanré rational model for the polyhedral product of a fibre inclusion is considered. In particular, we investigate the rational model for the polyhedral product of a pair of Lie groups corresponding to arbitrary simplicial complex and the rational homotopy group of the polyhedral product. Furthermore, it is proved that for a partial quotient $N$ associated with a toric manifold $M$, the following conditions are equivalent: (i) $N=M$. (ii) The odd-degree rational cohomology of $N$ is trivial. (iii) The torus bundle map from $N$ to the Davis-Januszkiewicz space is formalizable.

Local systems in diffeology

By making use of Halperin's local systems over simplicial sets and the model structure of the category of diffeological spaces due to Kihara, we introduce a framework of rational homotopy theory for such smooth spaces with arbitrary fundamental groups. As a consequence, we have an equivalence between the homotopy categories of fibrewise rational diffeological spaces and an algebraic category of minimal local systems elaborated by Gómez-Tato, Halperin and Tanré. In the latter half of this article, a spectral sequence converging to the singular de Rham cohomology of a diffeological adjunction space is constructed with the pullback of relevant local systems. In case of a stratifold obtained by attaching manifolds, the spectral sequence converges to the Souriau--de Rham cohomology algebra of the diffeological space. By using the pullback construction, we also discuss a local system model for a topological homotopy pushout.

On multiplicative spectral sequences for nerves and the free loop spaces

We construct a multiplicative spectral sequence converging to the cohomology algebra of the diagonal complex of a bisimplicial set with coefficients in a field. The construction provides a spectral sequence converging to the cohomology algebra of the classifying space of a topological category. By applying the machinery to a Borel construction, we determine explicitly the mod $p$ cohomology algebra of the free loop space of the real projective space for each odd prime $p$. This is highlighted as an important computational example of such a spectral sequence. Moreover, we try to represent generators in the singular de Rham cohomology algebra of the diffeological free loop space of a non-simply connected manifold $M$ with differential forms on the universal cover of $M$ via Chen's iterated integral map.

Cartan calculi on the free loop spaces

A typical example of a Cartan calculus consists of the Lie derivative and the contraction with vector fields of a manifold on the derivation ring of the de Rham complex. In this manuscript, a second stage of the Cartan calculus is investigated. In a general setting, the stage is formulated with operators obtained by the André-Quillen cohomology of a commutative differential graded algebra $A$ on the Hochschild homology of $A$ in terms of the homotopy Cartan calculus in the sense of Fiorenza and Kowalzig. Moreover, the Cartan calculus is interpreted geometrically with maps from the rational homotopy group of the monoid of self-homotopy equivalences on a space $M$ to the derivation ring on the loop cohomology of $M$. We also give a geometric description to Sullivan's isomorphism, which relates the geometric Cartan calculus to the algebraic one, via the $Γ_1$ map due to Félix and Thomas.

A reduction of the string bracket to the loop product

The negative cyclic homology for a differential graded algebra over the rational field has a quotient of the Hochschild homology as a direct summand if the $S$-action is trivial. With this fact, we show that the string bracket in the sense of Chas and Sullivan is reduced to the loop product followed by the BV operator on the loop homology provided the given manifold is BV exact. The reduction is indeed derived from the equivalence between the BV exactness and the triviality of the $S$-action. Moreover, it is proved that a Lie bracket on the loop cohomology of the classifying space of a connected compact Lie group possesses the same reduction. By using these results, we consider the non-triviality of string brackets. Another highlight is that a simply-connected space with positive weights is BV exact. Furthermore, the higher BV exactness is also discussed featuring the cobar-type Eilenberg-Moore spectral sequence.

A comparison between two de Rham complexes in diffeology

There are two de Rham complexes in diffeology. The original one is due to Souriau and the other one is the singular de Rham complex defined by a simplicial differential graded algebra. We compare the first de Rham cohomology groups of the two complexes within the Čech--de Rham spectral sequence by making use of the {\it factor map} which connects the two de Rham complexes. As a consequence, it follows that the singular de Rham cohomology algebra of the irrational torus $T_θ$ is isomorphic to the tensor product of the original de Rham cohomology and the exterior algebra generated by a non-trivial flow bundle over $T_θ$.

Simplicial cochain algebras for diffeological spaces

The original de Rham cohomology due to Souriau and the singular cohomology in diffeology are not isomorphic to each other in general. This manuscript introduces a singular de Rham complex endowed with an integration map into the singular cochain complex which gives the de Rham theorem for every diffeological space. It is also proved that a morphism called the factor map from the original de Rham complex to the new one is a quasi-isomorphism for a manifold and, more general, a space with singularities. Moreover, Chen's iterated integrals are considered in a diffeological framework. As a consequence, we deduce that the bar complex of the original de Rham complex of a simply-connected diffeological space is quasi-isomorphic to the singular de Rham complex of the diffeological free loop space provided the factor map for the underlying diffeological space is a quasi-isomorphism. The process for proving the assertion yields the Leray--Serre spectral sequence and the Eilenberg--Moore spectral sequence in diffeology.

On the whistle cobordism operation in string topology of classifying spaces

In this manuscript, we consider cobordism operations in the $2$-dimensional labeled open-closed topological quantum field theory for the classifying space of a connected compact Lie group in the sense of Guldberg. In particular, it is proved that the whistle cobordism operation is non-trivial in general provided the labels are in the set of maximal closed subgroups of the given Lie group. The non-triviality of cobordism operations induced by gluing the whistle with the opposite and other labeled cobordisms is also discussed.

A topos associated with a colored category

We show that a functor category whose domain is a colored category is a topos. The topos structure enables us to introduce cohomology of colored categories including quasi-schemoids. If the given colored category arises from an association scheme, then the cohomology coincides with the group cohomology of the factor scheme by the thin residue. Moreover, it is shown that the cohomology of a colored category relates to the standard representation of an association scheme via the Leray spectral sequence.

On the category of stratifolds

Stratifolds are considered from a categorical point of view. We show among others that the category of stratifolds fully faithfully embeds into the category of ${\mathbb R}$-algebras as does the category of smooth manifolds. We prove that a variant of the Serre-Swan theorem holds for stratifolds. In particular, the category of vector bundles over a stratifold is shown to be equivalent to the category of vector bundles over an associated affine scheme although the latter is in general larger than the stratifold itself.

The bv algebra in string topology of classifying spaces

For almost any compact connected Lie group $G$ and any field $\mathbb{F}\_p$, we compute the Batalin-Vilkoviskyalgebra $H^{*+\text{dim }G}(LBG;\mathbb{F}\_p)$ on the loop cohomology of the classifying space introduced byChataur and the second author. In particular, if $p$ is odd or $p=0$, this Batalin-Vilkovisky algebra is isomorphicto the Hochschild cohomology $HH^*(H\_*(G),H\_*(G))$. Over $\mathbb{F}\_2$, such isomorphism of Batalin-Vilkovisky algebrasdoes not hold when $G=SO(3)$ or $G=G\_2$.

On Mitchell's embedding theorem for a quasi-schemoid

A quasi-schemoid is a small category whose morphisms are colored with appropriate combinatorial data. In this note, Mitchell's embedding theorem for a tame schemoid is established. The result allows us to give a cofibrantly generated model category structure to the category of chain complexes over a functor category with a schemoid as the domain. Moreover, a notion of Morita equivalence for schemoids is introduced and discussed. In particular, we show that every Hamming scheme of binary codes is Morita equivalent to the association scheme arising from the cyclic group of order two. In an appendix, we construct a new schemoid from an abstract simplicial complex, whose Bose-Mesner algebra is closely related to the Stanley-Reisner ring of the given complex.

The ghost length and duality on the chain and cochain type levels

We establish equalities between cochain and chain type levels of maps by making use of exact functors which connect appropriate derived and coderived categories. Relevant conditions for levels of maps to be finite are extracted from the equalities which we call duality on the levels. Moreover, we give a lower bound of the cochain type level of the diagonal map on the classifying space of a Lie group by considering the ghostness of a shriek map which appears in derived string topology. A variant of Koszul duality for a differential graded algebra is also discussed.

The Ghost length, levels and shriek maps on classifying spaces

We give a lower bound of the cochain type level of the diagonal map on the classifying space of a Lie group by using the ghostness of a shriek map. Moreover, in a derived category, we discuss the triviality of the shriek map which induces the loop product on the classifying space of a Lie group.

On strong homotopy for quasi-schemoids

A quasi-schemoid is a small category with a particular partition of the set of morphisms. We define a homotopy relation on the category of quasi-schemoids and study its fundamental properties. As a homotopy invariant, the homotopy set of self-homotopy equivalences on a quasi-schemoid is introduced. The main theorem enables us to deduce that the homotopy invariant for the quasi-schemoid induced by a finite group is isomorphic to the automorphism group of the given group.
