Inverse problems for advection diffusion equations in admissible geometries

We study inverse boundary problems for the advection diffusion equation on an admissible manifold, i.e. a compact Riemannian manifold with boundary of dimension $\ge 3$, which is conformally embedded in a product of the Euclidean real line and a simple manifold. We prove the unique identifiability of the advection term of class $H^1\cap L^\infty$ and of class $H^{2/3}\cap C^{0,1/3}$ from the knowledge of the associated Dirichlet-to-Neumann map on the boundary of the manifold. This seems to be the first global identifiability result for possibly discontinuous advection terms.

Inverse problems for magnetic Schrödinger operators in transversally anisotropic geometries

We study inverse boundary problems for magnetic Schrödinger operators on a compact Riemannian manifold with boundary of dimension $\ge 3$. In the first part of the paper we are concerned with the case of admissible geometries, i.e. compact Riemannian manifolds with boundary which are conformally embedded in a product of the Euclidean line and a simple manifold. We show that the knowledge of the Cauchy data on the boundary of the manifold for the magnetic Schrödinger operator with $L^\infty$ magnetic and electric potentials, determines the magnetic field and electric potential uniquely. In the second part of the paper we address the case of more general conformally transversally anisotropic geometries, i.e. compact Riemannian manifolds with boundary which are conformally embedded in a product of the Euclidean line and a compact manifold, which need not be simple. Here, under the assumption that the geodesic ray transform on the transversal manifold is injective, we prove that the knowledge of the Cauchy data on the boundary of the manifold for a magnetic Schrödinger operator with continuous potentials, determines the magnetic field uniquely. Assuming that the electric potential is known, we show that the Cauchy data determines the magnetic potential up to a gauge equivalence.

From semiclassical Strichartz estimates to uniform $L^p$ resolvent estimates on compact manifolds

We prove uniform $L^p$ resolvent estimates for the stationary damped wave operator. The uniform $L^p$ resolvent estimates for the Laplace operator on a compact smooth Riemannian manifold without boundary were first established by Dos Santos Ferreira-Kenig-Salo and advanced further by Bourgain-Shao-Sogge-Yao. Here we provide an alternative proof relying on the techniques of semiclassical Strichartz estimates. This approach allows us also to handle non-self-adjoint perturbations of the Laplacian and embeds very naturally in the semiclassical spectral analysis framework.

$L^p$ concentration estimates for the Laplacian eigenfunctions near submanifolds

We study $L^p$ bounds on spectral projections for the Laplace operator on compact Riemannian manifolds, restricted to small frequency dependent neighborhoods of submanifolds. In particular, if $λ$ is a frequency and the size of the neigborhood is $\mathcal{O}(λ^{-δ})$, then new sharp estimates are established when $δ\ge 1$, while for $0\le δ\le 1/2$, Sogge's estimates turn out to be optimal. In the intermediate region $1/2<δ<1$, we sometimes get sharp estimates as well. Our arguments follow closely a recent work by Burq and Zuily.

The Calderón problem with partial data for conductivities with $3/2$ derivatives

We extend a global uniqueness result for the Calderón problem with partial data, due to Kenig-Sjöstrand-Uhlmann, to the case of less regular conductivities. Specifically, we show that in dimensions $n\ge 3$, the knowledge of the Diricihlet-to-Neumann map, measured on possibly very small subsets of the boundary, determines uniquely a conductivity having essentially $3/2$ derivatives in an $L^2$ sense.
