Laughlin quasihole geometry from a single snapshot ensemble

Can a probability distribution measured in one basis determine complex quantum geometry? The answer is affirmative for a lattice Laughlin quasihole. The exact occupation law at one generic reference position, together with the known analytic quasihole factor, fixes the complete complex Gram kernel. A finite snapshot ensemble estimates this kernel without preparing another member of the family, and thereby determines finite-distance overlaps, Bargmann phases, the quantum metric, and the Berry curvature. The same analytic structure confines the family to an exact projective subspace whose dimension grows at most linearly with particle number. Exact enumeration of a Nielsen-Cirac-Sierra state demonstrates finite-shot reconstruction of both the metric and a geometric phase. Moreover, a R\'enyi-2 divergence sets the statistical range of the reconstruction while, at nondegenerate points, occupation readout also attains the local single-copy multiparameter information bound.

Characteristic Lightcone Sources in SO(1,3) Yang-Mills Theory

The SO(1,3)-symmetric reduction of Yang-Mills theory on Minkowski space yields a stress-energy tensor that is smooth on the timelike and spacelike Lorentz orbits but diverges on the lightcone that separates the two regions. We ask what consistent source this singularity represents. A natural cure is a real shift of the singular denominator. This does not regularize the source but instead moves the singular support onto a hyperboloid off the cone, where the corresponding source cannot remain both conserved and traceless. Our analysis shows that the displaced support cannot retain both properties, whereas a completion on the lightcone can. The matching condition fixes this completion up to one parameter $\chi$, which has a causal interpretation as the relative weight of the future and past cones. On regular constant-time slices, the completed source carries zero total four-momentum, so its physical content is a residual causal charge inferred from its curvature response.

Calibrated Helstrom geometry on the Bloch ball via Connes spectral distance

We show that the equal-prior Helstrom trace-distance geometry of qubit states is recovered from Connes spectral distance in a finite scalar-qubit-scalar model. The two scalar reference sectors couple isotropically to the qubit block through identity Dirac links, so that the full Bloch ball, including mixed states, inherits its standard chordal trace-distance geometry from the finite spectral metric. The scalar-sector distances serve a distinct calibration role: they determine the individual link lengths, satisfy a Pythagorean consistency relation, and reconstruct the middle-sector scale.

Geometric Aharonov-Bohm phase effect around a black hole

In recent work, we have explored the novel possibility that the geodesic of a spacetime density flow in GR could be upgraded to an amplitude $\psi$ with density $|\psi|^2$. We now show how exactly the relevant amplitude and velocity flow equations arise in an eikonal approximation of Stueckelberg's proper-time quantum mechanics or Klein-Gordon flow. We also show how the divergence of the velocity field recovers the Raychaudhuri equations for relativistic fluids. In this setting, we demonstrate an Aharonov-Bohm type effect for the phase of $\psi& in motion approaching a black-hole.

Geodesic flows on a black-hole background

A recent notion of geodesic flows which comes out of noncommutative geometry but which is also novel in the classical case is studied in detail for a Schwarzschild spacetime. In this framework, the geodesic velocity field is an independent concept which then defines the flow of a density $\rho$ on spacetime or possibly that of an amplitude wave function $\psi$ with $\rho = |\psi|^2$. The proper time flow parameter $s$ is generated collectively by the flow of matter. We show carefully how the $\rho$ evolution can be justified as modelling a large number of geodesics interpolated as a local density. Using Kruskal-Szekeres coordinates, we show that there are no issues crossing the horizon. A novel feature is that whereas two colliding Gaussian bumps in density $\rho$ merge into a single bump, two colliding wave function $\psi$ bumps of opposite phase merge into a dipole with a different density $|\psi|^2$ profile, providing a potential test of our wave-function hypothesis. We also revisit the Klein-Gordon flow or pseudo-quantum mechanics around a black-hole and find that previously found black-hole atom states and modes generated at the horizon when an area of disturbance approaches it are also present inside the black-hole in a reflected fashion. We argue that the behaviour of the horizon modes across the horizon as well as discretisation of the atomic spectrum depend on quantum gravity corrections at the horizon.

Modified Einstein equations from the 1-loop effective action of the IKKT model

We derive the equations of motion that arise from the one-loop effective action for the geometry of 3+1 dimensional quantum branes in the IKKT matrix model. These equations are cast into the form of generalized Einstein equations, with extra contributions from dilaton and axionic fields, as well as a novel anharmonicity tensor C_{\mu\nu} capturing the classical Yang-Mills-type action. The resulting gravity theory approximately reduces to general relativity in some regime, but differs significantly at cosmic scales, leading to an asymptotically flat FLWR cosmological evolution governed by the classical action.

On Yang-Mills fields from anti-de Sitter spaces

Motivated by some recent progress involving a non-compact gauge group, we obtain classical gauge fields using non-compact foliations of anti-de Sitter space in 4 dimensions (required dimensionality for conformal invariance of Yang-Mills theory) and transfer these to Minkowski spacetime using a series of conformal maps. This construction also builds upon some previous works involving SU(2) gauge group in that we now use its non-compact counterpart SU(1, 1) here. We note down gauge fields in both Abelian as well as non-Abelian settings and find them to be divergent at some hyperboloid, which is a hypersurface of co-dimension 1 inside the conformal boundary of AdS4. In spite of this hurdle we find a physically relevant field configuration in the Abelian case, reproducing a known result.

Exact gauge fields from anti-de Sitter space

In 1977 L\"uscher found a class of SO(4)-symmetric SU(2) Yang-Mills solutions in Minkowski space, which have been rederived 40 years later by employing the isometry $S^3\cong\mathrm{SU}(2)$ and conformally mapping SU(2)-equivariant solutions of the Yang-Mills equations on (two copies of) de Sitter space $\mathrm{dS}_4\cong\mathbb{R}{\times}S^3$. Here we present the noncompact analog of this construction via $\mathrm{AdS}_3\cong\mathrm{SU}(1,1)$. On (two copies of) anti-de Sitter space $\mathrm{AdS}_4\cong\mathbb{R}{\times}\mathrm{AdS}_3$ we write down SU(1,1)-equivariant Yang-Mills solutions and conformally map them to $\mathbb{R}^{1,3}$. This yields a two-parameter family of exact SU(1,1) Yang-Mills solutions on Minkowski space, whose field strengths are essentially rational functions of Cartesian coordinates. Gluing the two AdS copies happens on a $\mathrm{dS}_3$ hyperboloid in Minkowski space, and our Yang-Mills configurations are singular on a two-dimensional hyperboloid $\mathrm{dS}_3\cap\mathbb{R}^{1,2}$. This renders their action and the energy infinite, although the field strengths fall off fast asymptotically except along the lightcone. We also construct Abelian solutions, which share these properties but are less symmetric and of zero action.

SO(1,3) Yang-Mills solutions on Minkowski space via cosets

We present a novel family of Yang-Mills solutions, with gauge group SO(1,3), on Minkowski space that are geometrically distinguished into two classes, viz. interior and exterior of the lightcone. We achieve this by foliating the former with SO(1,3)/SO(3) cosets and the latter with SO(1,3)/SO(1,2) cosets and analytically solving the Yang-Mills equation of an SO(1,3)-invariant gauge field. The resulting fields and their stress-energy tensor, when translated to the Minkowski space, diverge at the lightcone, but we demonstrate how this stress-energy tensor could be regularised due to its unique algebraic structure.

Solutions of Yang-Mills theory in four-dimensional de Sitter space

This doctoral work deals with the analysis of some Yang-Mills solutions on 4-dimensional de Sitter space d$S_4$. The conformal equivalence of this space with a finite Lorentzian cylinder over the 3-sphere and also with parts of Minkowski space has recently led to the discovery of a family of rational knotted electromagnetic field configurations. These "basis-knot" solutions of the Maxwell equations, aka $U(1)$ Yang-Mills theory, are labelled with the hyperspherical harmonics of the 3-sphere and have nice properties such as finite-energy, finite-action and presence of a conserved topological quantity called helicity. We study their symmetry properties, compute their conserved Noether charges for the conformal group and study behaviour of charged particles in their presence. Moreover, in the non-Abelian case of the gauge group $SU(2)$ there exist time-dependent solutions of Yang-Mills equation on d$S_4$ in terms of Jacobi elliptic functions that are of cosmological significance. These could play a role in early-time cosmology where an $SO(4)$-symmetric Higgs vacuum is stabilized due to rapid fluctuations of these gauge fields. We analyze the linear stability of such $SU(2)$ "cosmic gauge fields" against arbitrary perturbations of the Yang-Mills equation, while keeping the FLRW metric frozen. The stablity analysis of the time-dependent normal modes that arise from the diagonalization of the Yang-Mills fluctuation operator is carried out using Floquet theory.

Yang-Mills solutions on Minkowski space via non-compact coset spaces

We find a two-parameter family of solutions of the Yang-Mills equations for gauge group SO(1,3) on Minkowski space by foliating different parts of it with non-compact coset spaces with SO(1,3) isometry. The interior of the lightcone is foliated with hyperbolic space $H^3\cong \text{SO}(1,3)/\text{SO}(3)$, while the exterior of the lightcone employs de Sitter space dS$_3\cong \text{SO}(1,3)/\text{SO}(1,2)$. The lightcone itself is parametrized by SO(1,3)/ISO(2) in a nilpotent fashion. Equivariant reduction of the SO(1,3) Yang-Mills system on the first two coset spaces yields a mechanical system with inverted double-well potential and the foliation parameter serving as an evolution parameter. Its known analytic solutions are periodic or runaway except for the kink. On the lightcone, only the vacuum solution remains. The constructed Yang-Mills field strength is singular across the lightcone and of infinite action due to the noncompact cosets. Its energy-momentum tensor takes a very simple form, with energy density of opposite signs inside and outside the lightcone.

Conserved charges for rational electromagnetic knots

We revisit a newfound construction of rational electromagnetic knots based on the conformal correspondence between Minkowski space and a finite $S^3$-cylinder. We present here a more direct approach for this conformal correspondence based on Carter-Penrose transformation that avoids a detour to de Sitter space. The Maxwell equations can be analytically solved on the cylinder in terms of $S^3$ harmonics $Y_{j;m,n}$, which can then be transformed into Minkowski coordinates using the conformal map. The resultant "knot basis" electromagnetic field configurations have non-trivial topology in that their field lines form closed knots. We consider finite, complex linear combinations of these knot-basis solutions for a fixed spin $j$ and compute all the $15$ conserved Noether charges associated with the conformal group. We find that the scalar charges either vanish or are proportional to the energy. For the non-vanishing vector charges, we find a nice geometric structure that facilitates computation of their spherical components as well. We present analytic results for all charges for up to $j{=}1$. We demonstrate possible applications of our findings through some known previous results.

Trajectories of charged particles in knotted electromagnetic fields

We investigate the trajectories of point charges in the background of finite-action vacuum solutions of Maxwell's equations known as knot solutions. More specifically, we work with a basis of electromagnetic knots generated by the so-called "de Sitter method". We find a variety of behaviors depending on the field configuration and the parameter set used. This includes an acceleration of particles by the electromagnetic field from rest to ultrarelativistic speeds, a quick convergence of their trajectories into a few narrow cones asymptotically for sufficiently high value of the coupling, and a pronounced twisting and turning of trajectories in a coherent fashion. This work is part of an effort to improve the understanding of knotted electromagnetic fields and the trajectories of charged particles they generate, and may be relevant for experimental applications.

Instability of cosmic Yang-Mills fields

There exists a small family of analytic SO(4)-invariant but time-dependent SU(2) Yang-Mills solutions in any conformally flat four-dimensional spacetime. These might play a role in early-universe cosmology for stabilizing the symmetric Higgs vacuum. We analyze the linear stability of these "cosmic gauge fields" against general gauge-field perturbations while keeping the metric frozen, by diagonalizing the (time-dependent) Yang-Mills fluctuation operator around them and applying Floquet theory to its eigenfrequencies and normal modes. Except for the exactly solvable SO(4) singlet perturbation, which is found to be marginally stable linearly but bounded nonlinearly, generic normal modes often grow exponentially due to resonance effects. Even at very high energies, all cosmic Yang-Mills backgrounds are rendered linearly unstable.

On rational electromagnetic fields

We employ a recently developed method for constructing rational electromagnetic field configurations in Minkowski space to investigate several properties of these source-free finite-action Maxwell ("knot") solutions. The construction takes place on the Penrose diagram but uses features of de Sitter space, in particular its isometry group. This admits a classification of all knot solutions in terms of $S^3$ harmonics, labelled by a spin $2j\in{\mathbb N}_0$, which in fact provides a complete "knot basis" of finite-action Maxwell fields. We display a $j{=}1$ example, compute the energy for arbitrary spin-$j$ configurations, derive a linear relation between spin and helicity and characterize the subspace of null fields. Finally, we present an expression for the electromagnetic flux at null infinity and demonstrate its equality with the total energy.

Spectral distances on doubled Moyal plane using Dirac eigen-spinors

We present here a novel method of computing spectral distances in doubled Moyal plane in a noncommutative geometrical framework using Dirac eigen-spinors, while solving the Lipschitz ball condition explicitly through matrices. The standard results of longitudinal, transverse and hypotenuse distances between different pairs of pure states have been computed and Pythagorean equality between them have been re-produced. The issue of non-unital nature of Moyal plane algebra is taken care of through a sequence of projection operators constructed from Dirac eigen-spinors, which plays a crucial role throughout this paper. At the end, a toy model of "Higgs field" has been constructed by fluctuating the Dirac operator and the variation on the transverse distance has been demonstrated, through an explicit computation.

Revisiting Connes' Finite Spectral Distance on Non-commutative Spaces : Moyal Plane and Fuzzy Sphere

We revise and extend the algorithm provided in [1] to compute the finite Connes' distance between normal states. The original formula in [1] contains an error and actually only provides a lower bound. The correct expression, which we provide here, involves the computation of the infimum of an expression which involves the "transverse" component of the algebra element in addition to the "longitudinal" component of [1]. This renders the formula less user-friendly, as the determination of the exact transverse component for which the infimum is reached remains a non-trivial task, but under rather generic conditions it turns out that the Connes' distance is proportional to the trace norm of the difference in the density matrices, leading to considerable simplification. In addition, we can determine an upper bound of the distance by emulating and adapting the approach of [2] in our Hilbert-Schmidt operatorial formulation. We then look for an optimal element for which the upper bound is reached. We are able to find one for the Moyal plane through the limit of a sequence obtained by finite dimensional projections of the representative of an element belonging to a multiplier algebra, onto the subspaces of the total Hilbert space, occurring in the spectral triple and spanned by the eigen-spinors of the respective Dirac operator. This is in contrast with the fuzzy sphere, where the upper bound, which is given by the geodesic of a commutative sphere is never reached for any finite $n$-representation of $SU(2)$. Indeed, for the case of maximal non-commutativity ($n = 1/2$), the finite distance is shown to coincide exactly with the above mentioned lower bound, with the transverse component playing no role. This, however starts changing from $n=1$ onwards and we try to improve the estimate of the finite distance and provide an almost exact result, using our new and modified algorithm.

On the role of Schwinger's SU(2) generators for Simple Harmonic Oscillator in 2D Moyal plane

The Hilbert-Schmidt operator formulation of non-commutative quantum mechanics in 2D Moyal plane is shown to allow one to construct Schwinger's SU(2) generators. Using this the SU(2) symmetry aspect of both commutative and non-commutative harmonic oscillator are studied and compared. Particularly, in the non-commutative case we demonstrate the existence of a critical point in the parameter space of mass and angular frequency where there is a manifest SU(2) symmetry for a unphysical harmonic oscillator Hamiltonian built out of commuting (unphysical yet covariantly transforming under SU(2)) position like observable. The existence of this critical point is shown to be a novel aspect in non-commutative harmonic oscillator, which is exploited to obtain the spectrum and the observable mass and angular frequency parameters of the physical oscillator-which is generically different from the bare parameters occurring in the Hamiltonian. Finally, we show that a Zeeman term in the Hamiltonian of non-commutative physical harmonic oscillator, is solely responsible for both SU(2) and time reversal symmetry breaking.
