Representations and the colored Jones polynomial of a torus knot

We show that for a torus knot the SL(2;C) Chern-Simons invariants and the SL(2;C) twisted Reidemeister torsions appear in an asymptotic expansion of the colored Jones polynomial. This suggests a generalization of the volume conjecture that relates the asymptotic behavior of the colored Jones polynomial of a knot to the volume of the knot complement.

N=4 Superconformal Algebra and the Entropy of HyperKahler Manifolds

We study the elliptic genera of hyperKahler manifolds using the representation theory of N=4 superconformal algebra. We consider the decomposition of the elliptic genera in terms of N=4 irreducible characters, and derive the rate of increase of the multiplicities of half-BPS representations making use of Rademacher expansion. Exponential increase of the multiplicity suggests that we can associate the notion of an entropy to the geometry of hyperKahler manifolds. In the case of symmetric products of K3 surfaces our entropy agrees with the black hole entropy of D5-D1 system.

Superconformal Algebras and Mock Theta Functions 2. Rademacher Expansion for K3 Surface

The elliptic genera of the K3 surfaces, both compact and non-compact cases, are studied by using the theory of mock theta functions. We decompose the elliptic genus in terms of the N=4 superconformal characters at level-1, and present an exact formula for the coefficients of the massive (non-BPS) representations using the Poincare-Maass series.

Superconformal Algebras and Mock Theta Functions

It is known that characters of BPS representations of extended superconformal algebras do not have good modular properties due to extra singular vectors coming from the BPS condition. In order to improve their modular properties we apply the method of Zwegers which has recently been developed to analyze modular properties of mock theta functions. We consider the case of N=4 superconformal algebra at general levels and obtain the decomposition of characters of BPS representations into a sum of simple Jacobi forms and an infinite series of non-BPS representations. We apply our method to study elliptic genera of hyper-Kahler manifolds in higher dimensions. In particular we determine the elliptic genera in the case of complex 4 dimensions of the Hilbert scheme of points on K3 surfaces K^{[2]} and complex tori A^{[[3]]}.

Colored Jones polynomials with polynomial growth

The volume conjecture and its generalizations say that the colored Jones polynomial corresponding to the N-dimensional irreducible representation of sl(2;C) of a (hyperbolic) knot evaluated at exp(c/N) grows exponentially with respect to N if one fixes a complex number c near 2*Pi*I. On the other hand if the absolute value of c is small enough, it converges to the inverse of the Alexander polynomial evaluated at exp(c). In this paper we study cases where it grows polynomially.

Skein Theory and Topological Quantum Registers: Braiding Matrices and Topological Entanglement Entropy of Non-Abelian Quantum Hall States

We study topological properties of quasi-particle states in the non-Abelian quantum Hall states. We apply a skein-theoretic method to the Read--Rezayi state whose effective theory is the SU(2)_K Chern--Simons theory. As a generalization of the Pfaffian (K=2) and the Fibonacci (K=3) anyon states, we compute the braiding matrices of quasi-particle states with arbitrary spins. Furthermore we propose a method to compute the entanglement entropy skein-theoretically. We find that the entanglement entropy has a nontrivial contribution called the topological entanglement entropy which depends on the quantum dimension of non-Abelian quasi-particle intertwining two subsystems.

Boson-fermion duality in SU(m|n) supersymmetric Haldane-Shastry spin chain

By using the Y(gl(m|n)) super Yangian symmetry of the SU(m|n) supersymmetric Haldane-Shastry spin chain, we show that the partition function of this model satisfies a duality relation under the exchange of bosonic and fermionic spin degrees of freedom. As a byproduct of this study of the duality relation, we find a novel combinatorial formula for the super Schur polynomials associated with some irreducible representations of the Y(gl(m|n)) Yangian algebra. Finally, we reveal an intimate connection between the global SU(m|n) symmetry of a spin chain and the boson-fermion duality relation.

On the Quantum Invariant for the Spherical Seifert Manifold

We study the Witten--Reshetikhin--Turaev SU(2) invariant for the Seifert manifold $S^3/Γ$ where $Γ$ is a finite subgroup of SU(2). We show that the WRT invariants can be written in terms of the Eichler integral of the modular forms with half-integral weight, and we give an exact asymptotic expansion of the invariants by use of the nearly modular property of the Eichler integral. We further discuss that those modular forms have a direct connection with the polyhedral group by showing that the invariant polynomials of modular forms satisfy the polyhedral equations associated to $Γ$.

Generalized Volume Conjecture and the A-Polynomials -- the Neumann-Zagier Potential Function as a Classical Limit of Quantum Invariant

We study quantum invariant Z(M) for cusped hyperbolic 3-manifold M. We construct this invariant based on oriented ideal triangulation of M by assigning to each tetrahedron the quantum dilogarithm function, which is introduced by Faddeev in studies of the modular double of the quantum group. Following Thurston and Neumann-Zagier, we deform a complete hyperbolic structure of M, and correspondingly we define quantum invariant Z(M_u). This quantum invariant is shown to give the Neumann--Zagier potential function in the classical limit, and the A-polynomial can be derived from the potential function. We explain our construction by taking examples of 3-manifolds such as complements of hyperbolic knots and punctured torus bundle over the circle.

Quantum Invariants, Modular Forms, and Lattice Points II

We study the SU(2) Witten--Reshetikhin--Turaev invariant for the Seifert fibered homology spheres with M-exceptional fibers. We show that the WRT invariant can be written in terms of (differential of) the Eichler integrals of modular forms with weight 1/2 and 3/2. By use of nearly modular property of the Eichler integrals we shall obtain asymptotic expansions of the WRT invariant in the large-N limit. We further reveal that the number of the gauge equivalent classes of flat connections, which dominate the asymptotics of the WRT invariant in N ->\infinity, is related to the number of integral lattice points inside the M-dimensional tetrahedron.

On the Quantum Invariant for the Brieskorn Homology Spheres

We study an exact asymptotic behavior of the Witten-Reshetikhin-Turaev invariant for the Brieskorn homology spheres $Σ(p_1,p_2,p_3)$ by use of properties of the modular form following a method proposed by Lawrence and Zagier. Key observation is that the invariant coincides with a limiting value of the Eichler integral of the modular form with weight 3/2. We show that the Casson invariant is related to the number of the Eichler integrals which do not vanish in a limit $τ\to N \in \mathbb{Z}$. Correspondingly there is a one-to-one correspondence between the non-vanishing Eichler integrals and the irreducible representation of the fundamental group, and the Chern-Simons invariant is given from the Eichler integral in this limit. It is also shown that the Ohtsuki invariant follows from a nearly modular property of the Eichler integral, and we give an explicit form in terms of the L-function.

Integrable spin-boson interaction in the Tavis-Cummings model from a generic boundary twist

We construct models describing interaction between a spin $s$ and a single bosonic mode using a quantum inverse scattering procedure. The boundary conditions are generically twisted by generic matrices with both diagonal and off-diagonal entries. The exact solution is obtained by mapping the transfer matrix of the spin-boson system to an auxiliary problem of a spin-$j$ coupled to the spin-$s$ with general twist of the boundary condition. The corresponding auxiliary transfer matrix is diagonalized by a variation of the method of $Q$-matrices of Baxter. The exact solution of our problem is obtained applying certain large-$j$ limit to $su(2)_j$, transforming it into the bosonic algebra.

Quantum Invariant, Modular Form, and Lattice Points

We study the Witten--Reshetikhin--Turaev SU(2) invariant for the Seifert manifold with 4-singular fibers. We define the Eichler integrals of the modular forms with half-integral weight, and we show that the invariant is rewritten as a sum of the Eichler integrals. Using a nearly modular property of the Eichler integral, we give an exact asymptotic expansion of the WRT invariant in $N\to\infty$. We reveal that the number of dominating terms, which is the number of the non-vanishing Eichler integrals in a limit $τ\to N\in\mathbb{Z}$, is related to that of lattice points inside 4-dimensional simplex, and we discuss a relationship with the irreducible representations of the fundamental group.

Asymptotics of the Colored Jones Polynomial and the A-Polynomial

We reveal a relationship between the colored Jones polynomial and the A-polynomial for twist knots. We demonstrate that an asymptotics of the $N$-colored Jones polynomial in large $N$ gives the potential function, and that the A-polynomial can be computed. Also discussed is a case of torus knots.

Difference equation of the colored Jones polynomial for torus knot

We prove that the N-colored Jones polynomial for the torus knot T_{s,t} satisfies the second order difference equation, which reduces to the first order difference equation for a case of T_{2,2m+1}. We show that the A-polynomial of the torus knot can be derived from this difference equation. Also constructed is a q-hypergeometric type expression of the colored Jones polynomial for T_{2,2m+1}.
