A Multidimensional Analogue of the Simpson's Formula of Integral

The Simpson's formula is obtained by approximating the integral of a function on some interval by the integral of the quadratic polynomial determined by the function. However, a multidimensional analogue of the formula has not been given as far as we know. In this paper such a formula is given. Our formula is simple and beautiful, so it may be convenient in Mathematics or Mathematical Physics.

Beyond Gaussian : A Comment

In this paper we treat a non-Gaussian integral and give a fundamental formula in terms of discriminant. We also present some related problems. This is a comment paper to arXiv:0903.2595 [math-ph] by Morozov and Shakirov.

Reduced Dynamics from the Unitary Group to Some Flag Manifolds : Interacting Matrix Riccati Equations

In this paper we treat the time evolution of unitary elements in the N level system and consider the reduced dynamics from the unitary group U(N) to flag manifolds of the second type (in our terminology). Then we derive a set of differential equations of matrix Riccati types interacting with one another and present an important problem on a nonlinear superposition formula that the Riccati equation satisfies. Our result is a natural generalization of the paper {\bf Chaturvedi et al} (arXiv : 0706.0964 [quant-ph]).

General Solution of the Quantum Damped Harmonic Oscillator II : Some Examples

In the preceding paper (arXiv : 0710.2724 [quant-ph]) we have constructed the general solution for the master equation of quantum damped harmonic oscillator, which is given by the complicated infinite series in the operator algebra level. In this paper we give the explicit and compact forms to solutions (density operators) for some initial values. In particular, the compact one for the initial value based on a coherent state is given, which has not been given as far as we know. Moreover, some related problems are presented.

A Master Equation with Generalized Lindblad Form and a Unitary Transformation by the Squeezing Operator

In the preceding paper arXiv:0802.3252 [quant-ph] we treated a model given by a master equation with generalized Lindblad form, and examined the algebraic structure related to some Lie algebras and constructed an approximate solution. In this paper we apply a unitary transformation by the squeezing operator to the master equation. Then the generalized Lindblad form is tranformed to the usual Lindblad one, while the (original) Hamiltonian is tranformed to somewhat complicated one. As a result we have two different representations based on the Lie algebra su(1,1). We examine new algebraic structure and construct some approximate solution.

Algebraic Structure of a Master Equation with Generalized Lindblad Form

The quantum damped harmonic oscillator is described by the master equation with usual Lindblad form. The equation has been solved completely by us in arXiv : 0710.2724 [quant-ph]. To construct the general solution a few facts of representation theory based on the Lie algebra $su(1,1)$ were used. In this paper we treat a general model described by a master equation with generalized Lindblad form. Then we examine the algebraic structure related to some Lie algebras and construct the interesting approximate solution.

Exponentiation of certain Matrices related to the Four Level System by use of the Magic Matrix

In this paper we show how to calculate explicitly the exponential of certain matrices, which are evolution operators governing the interaction of the four level system of atoms and the radiation, etc. We present a consistent method in terms of the magic matrix by Makhlin. As a closely related subject, we derive a closed form expression of the Baker-Campbell-Hausdorff formula for a class of matrices in SU(4), by use of the method developed by the present authors in quant-ph/0610009.

On the Magic Matrix by Makhlin and the B-C-H Formula in SO(4)

A closed expression to the Baker-Campbell-Hausdorff (B-C-H) formula in SO(4) is given by making use of the magic matrix by Makhlin. As far as we know this is the {\bf first nontrivial example} on (semi-) simple Lie groups summing up all terms in the B-C-H expansion.

A New Algebraic Structure of Finite Quantum Systems and the Modified Bessel Functions

In this paper we present a new algebraic structure (a super hyperbolic system in our terminology) for finite quantum systems, which is a generalization of the usual one in the two-level system. It fits into the so-called generalized Pauli matrices, so they play an important role in the theory. Some deep relation to the modified Bessel functions of integer order is pointed out. By taking a skillful limit finite quantum systems become quantum mechanics on the circle developed by Ohnuki and Kitakado.

Quantum Mechanics with Complex Time : A Comment to the Paper by Rajeev

In (quant-ph/0701141) Rajeev studied quantization of the damped simple harmonic oscillator and introduced a complex-valued Hamiltonian (which is normal). In this note we point out that the quantization is interpreted as a quantum mechanics with {\bf complex time}. We also present a problem on quantization of classical control systems.

More on the Isomorphism $SU(2)\otimes SU(2)\cong SO(4)$

In this paper we revisit the isomorphism $SU(2)\otimes SU(2)\cong SO(4)$ to apply to some subjects in Quantum Computation and Mathematical Physics. The unitary matrix $Q$ by Makhlin giving the isomorphism as an adjoint action is studied and generalized from a different point of view. Some problems are also presented. In particular, the homogeneous manifold $SU(2n)/SO(2n)$ which characterizes entanglements in the case of $n=2$ is studied, and a clear-cut calculation of the universal Yang-Mills action in (hep-th/0602204) is given for the abelian case.

Matrix Elements of Generalized Coherent Operators

Explicit forms are given of matrix elements of generalized coherent operators based on Lie algebras su(1,1) and su(2). We also give a kind of factorization formula of the associated Laguerre polynomials.
