Low dimensional behaviour of generalized Kuramoto model

We study the global bifurcations of frequency weighted Kuramoto model in low-dimension for network of fully connected oscillators. To study the effect of non-zero-centered frequency distribution, we consider two symmetric Lorentzians as an example. We derive the stability diagram of the system and show that the infinite-dimensional problem reduces to a flow in four dimensions. Using the system symmetries, it can be further reduced to two dimensions. Using this analytic framework, we obtain bifurcation boundaries of the system, which is compatible with our numeric simulations. We show that the system has three types of transitions to synchronized state for different parameters of the frequency distribution: (1) a two-step transition, representative of standing waves, (2) a continuous transition, as in the classical Kuramoto model, and (3) a first-order transition with hysteresis. Numerical simulations are also conducted to confirm analytic results.

Noise-induced Synchronization in Small World Network of Phase Oscillators

A small-world network (SW) of similar phase oscillators, interacting according to the Kuramoto model is studied numerically. It is shown that deterministic Kuramoto dynamics on the SW networks has various stable stationary states. This can be attributed to the "defect patterns" in a SW network which is inherited to it from deformation of "helical patterns" in its parent regular one. Turning on an uncorrelated random force, causes the vanishing of the defect patterns, hence increasing the synchronization among oscillators for intermediate noise intensities. This phenomenon which is called "stochastic synchronization" generally observed in some natural networks like brain neuronal network.

Community detection based on "clumpiness" matrix in complex networks

The "clumpiness" matrix of a network is used to develop a method to identify its community structure. A "projection space" is constructed from the eigenvectors of the clumpiness matrix and a border line is defined using some kind of angular distance in this space. The community structure of the network is identified using this borderline and/or hierarchical clustering methods. The performance of our algorithm is tested on some computer-generated and real-world networks. The accuracy of the results is checked using normalized mutual information. The effect of community size heterogeneity on the accuracy of the method is also discussed.

Phase synchronization on scale-free and random networks in the presence of noise

In this work we investigate the stability of synchronized states for the Kuramoto model on scale-free and random networks in the presence of white noise forcing. We show that for a fixed coupling constant, the robustness of the globally synchronized state against the noise is dependent on the noise intensity on both kinds of networks. At low noise intensities the random networks are more robust against losing the coherency but upon increasing the noise, at a specific noise strength the synchronization among the population vanishes suddenly. In contrast, on scale-free networks the global synchronization disappears continuously at a much larger critical noise intensity respect to the random networks.

Intertwined Hamiltonians in Two Dimensional Curved Spaces

The problem of intertwined Hamiltonians in two dimensional curved spaces is investigated. Explicit results are obtained for Euclidean plane,Minkowski plane, Poincar{\' e} half plane ($AdS_2$), de Sitter Plane ($dS_2$), sphere, and torus. It is shown that the intertwining operator is related to the Killing vector fields and the isometry group of corresponding space. It is shown that the intertwined potentials are closely connected to the integral curves of the Killing vector fields. Two problems of considered as applications of the formalism presented in the paper. The first one is the problem of Hamiltonians with equispaced energy levels and the second one is the problem of Hamiltonians whose spectrum are like the spectrum of a free particle.

A New Interpretation for Orthofermions

In this article we introduce a simple physical model which realizes the algebra of orthofermions. The model is constructed from a cylinder which can be filled with some balls. The creation and annihilation operators of orthofermions are related to the creation and annihilation operators of balls in certain positions in the cylinder. Relationship between this model and topological symmetries in quantum mechanics is investigated.

$Z_3$-graded Symmetries in Quantum Mechanics

In this paper we consider $Z_3$-graded topological symmetries (TSs) in one dimensional quantum mechanics. We give a classification of one dimensional quantum systems possessing these symmetries and show that different classes correspond to a positive integer $N$.
