Resonant scattering for tunable quantum walks on graphs with tails

We study the resonant scattering for discrete time quantum walks on graphs with some tails. In our arguments, we reduce the study of resonances to the perturbation of eigenvalues of a finite rank matrix associated with the internal graph. Then we can apply Kato's perturbation theory of matrices, and the reduction process of generalized eigenspaces allows us to derive an explicit asymptotic expansion of the scattering matrix. As a consequence, we obtain the resonant scattering at resonant energies.

Resonant tunneling effect for quantum walks on directed graphs

Quantum walks that depend smoothly on a small parameter $\varepsilon\ge0$ are considered on directed graphs. The asymptotic behavior of the scattering matrix of the quantum walk as $\varepsilon\to+0$ is investigated. It is shown that, in this limit, the scattering matrix does not converge to that for $\varepsilon=0$ at points in the essential spectrum (the unit circle) that are asymptotically approached by a quantum resonance. Furthermore, a phenomenon resembling and extending the resonant tunneling effect is observed by analyzing this discrepancy through resonant states.

A microlocal Cauchy problem through a crossing point of Hamiltonian flows

In this paper, we consider $2\times 2$ matrix-valued pseudodifferential equations in which the two characteristic sets intersect with finite contact order. We show that the asymptotic behavior of its solution changes dramatically before and after the crossing point, and provide a precise asymptotic formula. This is a generalization of the previous results for matrix-valued Schr\"odinger operators and Landau-Zener models. The proof relies on a normal form reduction and a detailed analysis of a simple first-order system.

Two-level adiabatic transition probability for small avoided crossings generated by tangential intersections

In this paper, the asymptotic behaviors of the transition probability for two-level avoided crossings are studied under the limit where two parameters (adiabatic parameter and energy gap parameter) tend to zero. This is a continuation of our previous works where avoided crossings are generated by tangential intersections and obey a non-adiabatic regime. The main results elucidate not only the asymptotic expansion of transition probability but also a quantum interference caused by several avoided crossings and a coexistence of two-parameter regimes arising from different vanishing orders.

Transition of the semiclassical resonance widths across a tangential crossing energy-level

We consider a 1D $2\times 2$ matrix-valued operator \eqref{System0} with two semiclassical Schr\"odinger operators on the diagonal entries and small interactions on the off-diagonal ones. When the two potentials cross at a turning point with contact order $n$, the corresponding two classical trajectories at the crossing level intersect at one point in the phase space with contact order $2n$. We compute the transfer matrix at this point between the incoming and outgoing microlocal solutions and apply it to the semiclassical distribution of resonances at the energy crossing level. It is described in terms of a generalized Airy function. This result generalizes \cite{FMW1} to the tangential crossing and \cite{AFH1} to the crossing at a turning point.

Complex translation methods and its application to resonances for quantum walks

In this paper, some properties of resonances for multi-dimensional quantum walks are studied. Resonances for quantum walks are defined as eigenvalues of complex translated time evolution operators in the pseudo momentum space. For some typical cases, we show some results of existence or nonexistence of resonances. One is a perturbation of an elastic scattering of a quantum walk which is an analogue of classical mechanics. Another one is a shape resonance model which is a perturbation of a quantum walk with a non-penetrable barrier.

Local scattering matrix for a degenerate avoided-crossing in the non-coupled regime

A Landau-Zener type formula for a degenerate avoided-crossing is studied in the non-coupled regime. More precisely, a $2\times2$ system of first order $h$-differential operator with $\mathcal{O}(\varepsilon)$ off-diagonal part is considered in 1D. Asymptotic behavior as $\varepsilon h^{m/(m+1)}\to0^+$ of the local scattering matrix near an avoided-crossing is given, where $m$ stands for the contact order of two curves of the characteristic set. A generalization including the cases with vanishing off-diagonals and non-Hermitian symbols is also given.

Resonance expansion for quantum walks and its applications to the long-time behavior

In this paper, resonances are introduced to a class of quantum walks on $\mathbb{Z}$. Resonances are defined as poles of the meromorphically extended resolvent of the unitary time evolution operator. In particular, they appear inside the unit circle. Some analogous properties to those of quantum resonances for Schr\"odinger operators are shown. Especially, the resonance expansion, an analogue of the eigenfunction expansion, indicates the long-time behavior of quantum walks. The decaying rate, the asymptotic probability distribution, and the weak limit of the probability density are described by resonances and associated (generalized) resonant states. The generic simplicity of resonances is also investigated.

Semiclassical resonance asymptotics for systems with degenerate crossings of classical trajectories

This paper is concerned with the asymptotics of resonances in the semiclassical limit $h\to 0^+$ for $2\times 2$ matrix Schr\"odinger operators in one dimension. We study the case where the two underlying classical Hamiltonian trajectories cross tangentially in the phase space. In the setting that one of the classical trajectories is a simple closed curve whereas the other one is non-trapping, we show that the imaginary part of the resonances is of order $h^{(m_0+3)/(m_0+1)}$, where $m_0$ is the maximal contact order of the crossings. This principal order comes from the subprincipal terms of the transfer matrix at crossing points which describe the propagation of microlocal solutions from one trajectory to the other. In addition, we compute explicitly the leading coefficient of the resonance widths in terms of the probability amplitudes associated with all the \textit{generalized classical trajectories} escaping to infinity from the closed trajectory.

R\'esonances Semiclassiques Engendr\'ees par des Croisements de Trajectoires Classiques

We consider a $2\times2$ system of one-dimensional semiclassical Schr\"odinger operators with small interactions with respect to the semiclassical parameter $h$. We study the asymptotics in the semiclassical limit of the resonances near a non-trapping energy for both corresponding classical Hamiltonians. We show the existence of resonances of width $T^{-1}h\log(1/h)$, contrary to the scalar case, under the condition that two classical trajectories cross and compose a periodic trajectory with period $T$. omposent une trajectoire p\'eriodique de p\'eriode $T$.

Resonances in finitely perturbed quantum walks, resonance expansion and generic simplicity

We define resonances for finitely perturbed quantum walks as poles of the scattering matrix in the lower half plane. We show a resonance expansion which describes the time evolution in terms of resonances and corresponding Jordan chains. In particular, the decay rate of the survival probability is given by the imaginary part of resonances and the multiplicity. We prove generic simplicity of the resonances, although there are quantum walks with multiple resonances.

A discontinuity of the energy of quantum walk in impurities

We consider the discrete-time quantum walk whose local dynamics is denoted by $C$ at the perturbed region $\{0,1,\dots,M-1\}$ and free at the other positions. We obtain the stationary state with a bounded initial state. The initial state is set so that the perturbed region receives the inflow $\omega^n$ at time $n$ $(|\omega|=1)$. From this expression, we compute the scattering on the surface of $-1$ and $M$ and also compute the quantity how quantum walker accumulates in the perturbed region; namely the energy of the quantum walk, in the long time limit. We find a discontinuity of the energy with respect to the frequency of the inflow.

Feynman Integral in Quantum Walk, Barrier-top Scattering and Hadamard Walk

The aim of this article is to relate the discrete quantum walk on $\mathbb{Z}$ with the continuous Schr\"odinger operator on $\mathbb{R}$ in the scattering problem. Each point of $\mathbb{Z}$ is associated with a barrier of the potential, and the coin operator of the quantum walk is determined by the transfer matrix between bases of WKB solutions on the classically allowed regions of both sides of the barrier. This correspondence enables us to represent each entry of the scattering matrix of the Schr\"odinger operator as a countable sum of probability amplitudes associated with the paths of the quantum walker. In particular, the barrier-top scattering corresponds to the Hadamard walk in the semiclassical limit.

Resonance free domain for a system of Schr\"odinger operators with energy-level crossings

We consider a $2\times 2$ system of 1D semiclassical differential operators with two Schr\"odinger operators in the diagonal part and small interactions of order $h^\nu$ in the off-diagonal part, where $h$ is a semiclassical parameter and $\nu$ is a constant larger than $1/2$. We study the absence of resonance near a non-trapping energy for both Schr\"odinger operators in the presence of crossings of their potentials. The width of resonances is estimated from below by $Mh\log(1/h)$ and the coefficient $M$ is given in terms of the directed cycles of the generalized bicharacteristics induced by two Hamiltonians.
