We show relationships between uniform K-stability and plt blowups of log Fano pairs. We see that it is enough to evaluate certain invariants defined by volume functions for all plt blowups in order to test uniform K-stability of log Fano pairs. We also discuss the uniform K-stability of two log Fano pairs under crepant finite covers. Moreover, we give another proof of K-semistability of the projective plane.
We apply a recent theorem of Li and the first author to give some criteria for the K-stability of Fano varieties in terms of anticanonical Q-divisors. First, we propose a condition in terms of certain anticanonical Q-divisors of given Fano variety, which we conjecture to be equivalent to the K-stability. We prove that it is at least sufficient condition and also relate to the Berman-Gibbs stability. We also give another algebraic proof of the K-stability of Fano varieties which satisfy Tian's alpha invariants condition.
We give a simple necessary and sufficient condition for uniform K-stability of $\mathbb{Q}$-Fano varieties.
We show that any $n$-dimensional Fano manifold $X$ with $α(X)=n/(n+1)$ and $n\geq 2$ is K-stable, where $α(X)$ is the alpha invariant of $X$ introduced by Tian. In particular, any such $X$ admits Kähler-Einstein metrics and the holomorphic automorphism group of $X$ is finite.
The notion of asymptotically log Fano varieties was given by Cheltsov and Rubinstein. We show that, if an asymptotically log Fano variety $(X, D)$ satisfies that $D$ is irreducible and $-K_X-D$ is big, then $X$ does not admit Kähler-Einstein edge metrics with angle $2πβ$ along $D$ for any sufficiently small positive rational number $β$. This gives an affirmative answer to a conjecture of Cheltsov and Rubinstein.
We show that the pair $(X, -K_X)$ is K-unstable for a del Pezzo manifold $X$ of degree five with dimension four or five. This disprove a conjecture of Odaka and Okada.
We show that any $n$-dimensional Fano manifold $X$ admitting Kähler-Einstein metrics satisfies that the anti-canonical volume is less than or equal to the value $(n+1)^n$. Moreover, the equality holds if and only if $X$ is isomorphic to the $n$-dimensional projective space.
We introduce a new effective stability named "divisorial stability" for Fano manifolds which is weaker than K-stability and is stronger than slope stability along divisors. We show that we can test divisorial stability via the volume function. As a corollary, we prove that the first coordinate of the barycenter of the Okounkov body of the anticanonical divisor is not bigger than one for any Kähler-Einstein Fano manifold. In particular, for toric Fano manifolds, the existence of Kähler-Einstein metrics is equivalent to divisorial semistability. Moreover, we find many non-Kähler-Einstein Fano manifolds of dimension three.
As a generalization of the Mukai conjecture, we conjecture that the Fano manifolds $X$ which satisfy the property $ρ_X(r_X-1)\geq\dim X-1$ have very special structure, where $ρ_X$ is the Picard number of $X$ and $r_X$ is the index of $X$. In this paper, we classify those $X$ if $ρ_X\leq 3$ or $\dim X\leq 5$.
The notion of Berman-Gibbs stability was originally introduced by Robert Berman for $\mathbb{Q}$-Fano varieties $X$. We show that the pair $(X, -K_X)$ is K-stable (resp. K-semistable) provided that $X$ is Berman-Gibbs stable (resp. semistable).
We classify all of the log del Pezzo surfaces $S$ of index $a$ such that the volume $(-K_S^2)$ is larger than or equal to $2a$.
A normal projective non-Gorenstein log-terminal surface $S$ is called a log del Pezzo surface of index three if the three-times of the anti-canonical divisor $-3K_S$ is an ample Cartier divisor. We classify all of the log del Pezzo surfaces of index three. The technique for the classification based on the argument of Nakayama.
For a log del Pezzo surface $S$, the fractional index $r(S)\in\mathbb{Q}_{>0}$ is the maximum of $r$ with which $-K_S$ can be written as $r$ times some Cartier divisor. We classify all the log del Pezzo surfaces $S$ with $r(S)\geq 1/2$, after the technique of Nakayama.
Let X be a complex Fano manifold of dimension n. Let s(X) be the sum of l(R)-1 for all the extremal rays of X, the edges of the cone NE(X) of curves of X, where l(R) denotes the minimum of (-K_X \cdot C) for all rational curves C whose class [C] belongs to R. We show that s(X)\leq n if n\leq 4. And for n\leq 4, we completely classify the case the equality holds. This is a refinement of the Mukai conjecture on Fano fourfolds.
For a quasi-projective demi-normal pair (X, Δ), we prove that there exists a semi-canonical modification and semi-terminal modification of (X, Δ).
We give a simple criterion for slope stability of Fano manifolds $X$ along divisors or smooth subvarieties. As an application, we show that $X$ is slope stable along an ample effective divisor $D\subset X$ unless $X$ is isomorphic to a projective space and $D$ is a hyperplane section. We also give counterexamples to Aubin's conjecture on the relation between the anticanonical volume and the existence of a Kähler-Einstein metric. Finally, we consider the case that $\dim X=3$; we give a complete answer for slope (semi)stability along divisors of Fano threefolds.
We classify smooth Fano manifolds X with the Picard number $ρ_X \geq 3$ such that there exists an extremal ray which has a birational contraction that maps a divisor to a point.
