A Liouville Theorem for Mean Curvature Flow

Ancient solutions arise in the study of parabolic blow-ups. If we can categorize ancient solutions, we can better understand blow-up limits. Based on an argument of Giga and Kohn, we give a Liouville-type theorem restricting ancient, type-I, non-collapsing two- dimensional mean curvature flows to either spheres or cylinders.

Blow-up Continuity for Type-I, Mean-Convex Mean Curvature Flow

Under mean curvature flow, a closed, embedded hypersurface $M(t)$ becomes singular in finite time. For certain classes of mean-convex mean curvature flows, we show the continuity of the first singular time $T$ and the limit set "$M(T)$", with respect to initial data. We employ an Angenent-like neck-pinching argument to force singularities in nearby flows. However, since we cannot prescribe initial data, we combine Andrews' $α$-non-collapsed condition and Colding and Minicozzi's uniqueness of tangent flows to place appropriately sized spheres in the region inside the hypersurface.

Nonasymptotic densities for shape reconstruction

In this work, we study the problem of reconstructing shapes from simple nonasymptotic densities measured only along shape boundaries. The particular density we study is also known as the integral area invariant and corresponds to the area of a disk centered on the boundary that is also inside the shape. It is easy to show uniqueness when these densities are known for all radii in a neighborhood of r = 0, but much less straightforward when we assume that we only know the area invariant and its derivatives for only one r > 0. We present variations of uniqueness results for reconstruction (modulo translation and rotation) of polygons and (a dense set of) smooth curves under certain regularity conditions.
