Gravitational radiation reaction around a static black hole surrounded by a Dehnen type dark matter halo

We consider the motion of a particle in the geometry of a Schwarzschild-like black hole embedded in a dark matter (DM) halo with Dehnen type density profile and calculate the orbital periods along with the evolution of the semi-latus rectum and eccentricity for extreme mass ratio inspirals (EMRIs). Such a system emits gravitational waves (GWs), and the particle's orbit evolves under radiation reaction. We also consider the effects of dynamical friction and accretion of DM on the orbital parameters. We find that the eccentricity and semi-latus rectum decrease faster with respect to the case in which EMRI is in empty spacetime.

Shadow of F(R)-EH Black Hole and Constraints from EHT Observations

This work investigates the optical properties of a static, spherically symmetric, electrically charged black hole in f(R) gravity coupled to Euler-Heisenberg(EH) nonlinear electrodynamics(NLED). By analyzing photon trajectories in this background spacetime, we show how the model parameters affect light propagation, leading to wider ranges of lensed trajectories and photon rings. We identify regions of parameter space that admit physically consistent black hole shadows, characterized by the existence of a photon sphere located outside the event horizon and a shadow formed beyond it. These viable regions expand with increasing electric charge and increasing fR0, illustrating the interplay between gravitational and electromagnetic effects. By constraining the model using Event Horizon Telescope observations of M87*, we find that de Sitter black hole solutions remain compatible with the observational data, whereas anti-de Sitter solutions are disfavored for low electric charge and fR0 > -1. Finally, an analysis of the energy emission rate shows that higher electric charge enhances black hole evaporation, while stronger nonlinear electrodynamics effects and larger values of fR0 suppress it.

Optical Signatures of Einstein-Euler-Heisenberg AdS/dS Black Holes in the light of Event Horizon Telescope

Recent observations of the supermassive black holes $ M87^{*} $ and Sgr A$^{*}$ by the Event Horizon Telescope (EHT) have sparked intensified interest in studying the optical appearance of black holes (BHs). Inspired by this, we carry out a study on the optical features of Einstein-Euler-Heisenberg-Anti de Sitter/de Sitter (EEH-AdS/dS) BHs, including the trajectories of photons, shadow geometrical shape, energy emission rate, and deflection of light in this spacetime. Since, due to the nonlinear electrodynamics effects, photons propagate along null geodesics in an effective metric rather than the background metric, we first derive the effective metric of the EEH-AdS/dS BH. Then we study the null geodesics of the resulting effective metric and eventually compute the size of the EEH-AdS/dS BH shadow. To validate our results, we confront our results with the extracted information from EHT data of the supermassive BHs $ M87^{*} $ and estimate lower bounds for the shadow radius.

A Study of Black Holes in $F(R)-$ModMax Gravity: Gravitational Lensing and Constraints from EHT Observations

The study of astrophysical phenomena like black hole shadows is an effective approach to properly understand the modified gravity and explore its validity. Motivated by recent astrophysical observations, we consider a black hole (BH) in $F(R)-$ModMax gravity and study the optical features such as the shadow's geometrical shape, energy emission rate, and deflection of light. More specifically, we show how the variation of the model parameters imprints specific signatures on these optical quantities. In the following, we consider such black holes as supermassive BHs and evaluate the parameters of the model with shadow size estimates done by the observations of M87* from the Event Horizon Telescope (EHT). According to our findings, the parameter $f_{R_{0}}$ plays an effective role in having results consistent with the EHT data such that the resulting shadow of AdS black holes in $F(R)-$ModMax gravity agrees with the observational data for $f_{R_{0}}<-1$. However, for dS black holes, a consistent result is observed for $f_{R_{0}}>-1$.

Shadow Cast by the Kerr MOG Black Hole under the Influence of Plasma and Constraints from EHT Observations

The study of black hole (BH) shadows provide crucial insights into the nature of strong gravitational effects and the intricate structure of the spacetime surrounding BHs. In this paper, we explore the shadow of Kerr MOG BH within a plasma environment, investigating how much the presence of plasma influences the characteristics of the observed shadow compared to those in vacuum conditions. Our analysis reveals that the shadow characteristics of M87* and Sgr A* are more compatible with event horizon telescope (EHT) observational data in nonhomogeneous plasma spacetime compared to homogeneous distributions. For small metric deformation parameter $α$, the shadow aligns within $2σ$ uncertainty for homogeneous plasma and within $1σ$ for nonhomogeneous plasma. Next, we determine the energy emission rate for the Kerr MOG BH and analyze the influence of parameters $α$, $k_o$, $k_θ$, and $k_r$ on particle emissions in the BH vicinity. We further analyze the deflection angle in the presence of homogeneous and nonhomogeneous plasma profiles. The findings indicate notable differences from the vacuum scenario, underscoring the importance of accounting for plasma effects in studying light propagation around compact objects.

Shadows and Optical Appearances of Black Holes in $R^{2}$ Gravity

In this paper, we consider a charged AdS/dS black hole (BH) in $R^{2}$ gravity and study its optical features, including the shadow's geometrical shape and the energy emission rate. Additionally, we look for criteria to restrict the free parameters of the theory by comparing them to observational data of M87$^{\star}$. Then, we employ the Newman-Janis algorithm to build the rotating counterpart of the static solution in $R^{2}$ gravity and calculate the energy emission rate for the rotating case as well as discuss how the rotation factor and other parameters of this theory affect the emission of particles around the BHs. In the following, we consider the obtained rotating BH as a supermassive black hole and evaluate the parameters of the model with shadow size estimates based on the observations of M87$^{\star}$ from EHT.

Kerr-Newman Black Holes in Weyl-Cartan Theory: Shadows and EHT constraints

With the recent release of the black hole image of Sgr A* alongside the earlier image of M87*, one can achieve an in-depth understanding of gravitational physics at the horizon scale. According to the Event Horizon Telescope (EHT) collaboration, the observed image is consistent with the expected appearance of a Kerr black hole. In the present work, we consider Kerr-Newman black holes in Weyl-Cartan theory as a supermassive black hole (BH) and evaluate the parameters of the model with shadow size estimates done by the observations of M87* and Sgr A* from EHT. Such a study can be a possible way to distinguish Weyl-Cartan theory from general relativity and ensure the validity of the idea. Besides, we calculate the energy emission rate for the corresponding BH and discuss how the model's parameters affect the emission of particles around the black hole. With this investigation, we are able to examine the time evolution and lifetime of the black hole in such a theory of gravity.

Optical features of AdS black holes in the novel 4D Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet gravity coupled to nonlinear electrodynamics

An alternative theory of gravity that has attracted much attention recently is the novel four-dimensional Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet (4D EGB) gravity. The theory is rescaled by the Gauss-Bonnet (GB) coupling constant $α\rightarrow α/(D - 4)$ in $ D $ dimensions and redefined as four-dimensional gravity in the limit $D \rightarrow 4$. Thus, in this manner, the GB term yields a non-trivial contribution to the gravitational dynamics. In fact, regularized black hole solutions and applications in the novel 4D EGB gravity have also been extensively explored. In this work, motivated by recent astrophysical observations, we present an in-depth study of the optical features of AdS black holes in the novel 4D EGB gravity coupled to exponential nonlinear electrodynamics (NED), such as the shadow geometrical shape, the energy emission rate, the deflection angle and quasinormal modes. Taking into account these dynamic quantities, we investigate the effects on the black hole solution by varying the parameters of the models. More specifically, we show that the variation of the GB and NED parameters, and of the cosmological constant, imprints specific signatures on the optical features of AdS black holes in the novel 4D EGB gravity coupled to nonlinear electrodynamics, thus leading to the possibility of directly testing these black hole models by using astrophysical observations.

Observational optical constraints of regular black holes

In this work, we consider two recently introduced novel regular black hole solutions and investigate the circular null geodesics to find the connection between the photon sphere, the horizon and the black hole shadow radii. We also study the energy emission rate for these solutions and discuss how the parameters of models affect the emission of particles around the black holes. Furthermore, we compare the resulting shadow of these regular black holes with observational data of the Event Horizon Telescope and find the allowed regions of the model parameters for which the obtained shadow is consistent with the data. Finally, we employ the correspondence between the quasinormal modes in the eikonal limit and shadow radius to study the scalar field perturbations in these backgrounds.

Shadow, deflection angle and quasinormal modes of Born-Infeld charged black holes

In this paper, we consider black holes in the consistent Aoki-Gorji-Mukohyama theory of the four-dimensional Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet (4D EGB) gravity in the presence of Born-Infeld (BI) nonlinear electrodynamics. We study several optical features of these black holes such as the shadow radius, energy emission rate and deflection angle, and analyse the effect of the coupling constants, the electric charge and cosmological constant on the considered optical quantities. Furthermore, we also employ the connection between the shadow radius and quasinormal modes (QNMs) and investigate small scalar perturbations around the black hole solution. We show that the variation of the parameters of the theory provide specific signatures on the optical features of the BI charged black hole solution, thus leading to the possibility of directly testing this consistent Aoki-Gorji-Mukohyama 4D EGB black hole model by using astrophysical observations.
