Integrability Conditions For Almost Hermitian And Almost Kaehler 4-Manifolds

If $W_+$ denotes the self dual part of the Weyl tensor of any Kähler 4-manifold and $S$ its scalar curvature, then the relation $|W_+|^2 = S^2/6$ is well-known. For any almost Kähler 4-manifold with $S \ge 0$, this condition forces the Kähler property. A compact almost Kähler 4-manifold is already Kähler if it satisfies the conditions $| W_+ |^2 = S^2/6$ and $δW_+=0$ and also if it is Einstein and $| W_+|$ is constant. Some further results of this type are proved. An almost Hermitian 4-manifold $(M,g,J)$ with $\mathrm{supp} (W_+)=M$ is already Kähler if it satisfies the condition $| W_+ |^2 = 3 (S_{\star} - S/3)^2 /8$ together with $|\nabla W_+ | = | \nabla |W_+||$ or with $δW_+ + \nabla \log | W_+ | \lrcorner W_+ =0$, respectively. The almost complex structure $J$ enters here explicitely via the star scalar curvature $S_{\star}$ only.

Some integrability conditions for almost Kähler manifolds

Among other results, a compact almost Kähler manifold is proved to be Kähler if the Ricci tensor is semi-negative and its length coincides with that of the star Ricci tensor or if the Ricci tensor is semi-positive and its first order covariant derivatives are Hermitian. Moreover, it is shown that there are no compact almost Kähler manifolds with harmonic Weyl tensor and non-parallel semi-positive Ricci tensor. Stronger results are obtained in dimension 4.

A relation between the Ricci tensor and the spectrum of the Dirac operator

Using Weitzenböck techniques on any compact Riemannian spin manifold we derive a general inequality depending on a real parameter and joining the spectrum of the Dirac operator with terms depending on the Ricci tensor and its first covariant derivatives. The discussion of this inequality yields vanishing theorems for the kernel of the Dirac operator $D$ and new lower bounds for the spectrum of $D^2$ if the Ricci tensor satisfies certain conditions.

Eigenvalue estimates of the Dirac operator depending on the Ricci tensor

We prove a new lower bound for the first eigenvalue of the Dirac operator on a compact Riemannian spin manifold by refined Weitzenböck techniques. It applies to manifolds with harmonic curvature tensor and depends on the Ricci tensor. Examples show how it behaves compared to other known bounds.

Holomorphic spinors and the Dirac equation

A closed spin Kähler manifold of positive scalar curvature with smallest possible first eigenvalue of the Dirac operator is characterized by holomorphic spinors. It is shown that on any spin Kähler-Einstein manifold each holomorphic spinor is a finite sum of eigenspinors of the square of the Dirac operator. Vanishing theorems for holomorphic spinors are proved.
