Dark Energy and Modified Scale Covariant Theory of Gravitation

Taking up four model universes we study the behaviour and contribution of dark energy to the accelerated expansion of the universe, in the modified scale covariant theory of gravitation. Here, it is seen that though this modified theory may be a cause of the accelerated expansion it cannot totally outcast the contribution of dark energy in causing the accelerated expansion. In one case the dark energy is found to be the sole cause of the accelerated expansion. The dark energy contained in these models come out to be of the $Λ$CDM type and quintessence type comparable to the modern observations. Some of the models originated with a big bang, the dark energy being prevalent inside the universe before the evolution of this era. One of the models predicts big rip singularity, though at a very distant future. It is interestingly found that the interaction between the dark energy and the other part of the universe containing different matters is enticed and enhanced by the gauge function $ϕ(t)$ here.

Evolution of Kaluza-Klein Like Wet Dark Fluid in $f(R,T)$ Theory of Gravitation

Here we study the essence of $f(R,T)$ gravitation theory in five dimensional Universe and see the role of dark energy in the form of wet dark fluid in such a Universe. It is found that the dark energy is not exaggerated in contributing to the accelerating expansion of the Universe though the expansion is inherent as a result of the theory itself and due to the geometric contribution of matter. It is interesting to see that in some model it is found that there was some era before the beginning of the present era, and some of the model Universe came out to be either oscillatory or cyclic. Some of the models are seen to go to $ΛCDM$ models in late future as in Einstein gravitation theory, starting the evolution with a big bang. Most of the models undergo early inflation as well as late time accelerating expansion thus defining as good models for real astrophysical situations, with dark energy playing fundamental role in these Universe.

Dark energy in spherically symmetric universe coupled with Brans-Dicke scalar field

The phenomenon of dark energy and its manifestations are studied in a spherically symmetric universe considering the Brans-Dicke scalar tensor theory. In the first model the dark energy behaves like a phantom type and in such a universe the existence of negative time is validated with an indication that our universe started its evolution before $t=0$. Dark energy prevalent in this universe is found to be more active at times when other types of energies remain passive. The second model universe begins with big bang. On the other hand the dark energy prevalent in the third model is found to be of the quintessence type. Here it is seen that the dark energy triggers the big bang and after that much of the dark energy reduces to dark matter. One peculiarity in such a model is that the scalar field is prevalent eternally, it never tends to zero.

Whether Lyra's Manifold Itself is a Hidden Source of Dark Energy

In the course of investigation of some interesting cosmic string universes in the five dimensional Lyra manifold it is excitingly found that the geometry itself of Lyra manifold behaves as a new source of dark energy and this energy takes a form similar to that of quintessence in most of the cases, though in one case the dark energy comes out to be that of the cosmological constant type. The behaviour of the universes and their contribution to the process of evolution are examined. Further study of such type of universes will be very helpful in explaining the present accelerated expansion behaviour of the universe.

Harnessing Dark Energy in Five-dimensional Brans-Dicke Universe

In trying to explain the present accelerated expansion of the universe in the light of a five-dimensional Brans-Dicke theory, it is found that the fifth dimension itself here acts as a source of dark energy. It may be taken as a curvature-induced form of dark energy, in one case of which it behaves similar to that form of dark energy arising out of the cosmological constant which is the most commonly accepted form of dark energy. It is also found that this new type of dark energy is free from big rip singularity, and may be taken as a viable form of dark energy which can explain some of physical mysteries of the universe.

Dark energy and its manifestations

In a four dimensional manifold formalism we study the evolutionary behavior as well as the ultimate fate of the universe, in the course of which the contribution of dark energy in these phases are investigated. At one stage we get a situation (a condition) where the dark energy contained dominates other types of energies available in this universe. In the model universes we obtain here the dark energy is found to be of $Λ$CDM and quintessence types-which bear testimony to being real universes. In one of the cases where the equation of state between the fluid pressure and density is of the type of the van der Waals equation, it is found that our universe may end in dust. And, also, it is seen that the behavior of the deceleration parameter is almost compatible with the recent observation.
