Geometry-Induced Skin Effect in Electron Hydrodynamics

In ultra-clean 2d materials electron viscosity is as important as Ohmic dissipation and electron transport exhibits hydrodynamic features. Using a simple framework of Brinkman equations we find that hydrodynamic electron flows give rise to a geometric skin effect: sharp obstacles locally enhance the current suppressing it far from the edges where the flow is unobstructed. This effect arises within hydrodynamic transport with finite momentum relaxation and does not rely on ballistic dynamics. Our results provide a natural hydrodynamic interpretation of edge-enhanced and double-bump current profiles observed in constricted geometries. By comparing with recent scanning NV magnetometry experiments on gated graphene, we demonstrate that such flow patterns are consistent with viscous hydrodynamics shaped by geometry, clarifying the role of geometric effects in the interpretation of electronic flow experiments.

Black Hole States in Quantum Spin Chains

We define a black hole state in a spin chain by studying thermal correlators in holography. Focusing on the Heisenberg model we investigate the thermal and complexity properties of the black hole state by evaluating its entanglement entropy, emptiness formation probability and Krylov complexity. The entanglement entropy grows logarithmically with effective central charge c=5.2. We find evidence for thermalization at infinite temperature.

Wilson loops on the Coulomb branch of $N=4$ super-Yang-Mills

We study Wilson loops on the Coulomb branch of $N = 4$ super-Yang-Mills theory, by solving for minimal surfaces that connect the contour on the boundary with the D3-brane in the bulk of AdS$_5 \times S^5$. The circular loop undergoes the Gross-Ooguri transition as a function of the radius and angular separation, and we fully map its phase diagram. As a byproduct we find evidence that the expectation value of the straight line is tree-level exact.

Finite-gap potentials as a semiclassical limit of the thermodynamic Bethe Ansatz

We show that the semiclassical limit of thermodynamic Bethe Ansatz equations naturally reconstructs the algebro-geometric spectra of finite-gap periodic potentials. This correspondence is illustrated using the traveling-wave (snoidal) solution of the defocusing modified Korteweg--de Vries equation. In this framework, the Bethe-root distribution of the associated quantum field theory yields an Abelian differential of the second kind on the elliptic Riemann surface specified by the spectral endpoints, a structure central to the algebro-geometric theory of solitons. The semiclassical parameter is identified with the large-rank limit of the internal symmetry group ($O(2N)$) of the underlying quantum field theory (the Gross-Neveu model with a chemical potential). Our analysis indicates that the analytic structure of the spectrum is dictated solely by the Dynkin diagram ($D_N$) and its large-rank limit ($D_\infty$), independently of the particular integrable model used to realize it.

Coulomb Branch and Integrability

We study one-point functions of non-BPS single-trace operators on the Coulomb branch of planar $\mathcal{N}=4$ supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory. Holography relates them to overlaps between on-shell closed string states and a boundary state describing a probe D3-brane in $AdS_5\times S^{5}$. Assuming that the D-brane preserves integrability, we formulate and solve integrable bootstrap equations satisfied by the boundary state at finite 't Hooft coupling. This leads to a closed-form determinant expression for one-point functions at finite coupling, valid for sufficiently long operators. We test the result against direct field theory computations at tree level and one loop, finding perfect agreement.

String Integrability on the Coulomb Branch

The Coulomb branch of the N = 4 super-Yang-Mills theory is described by a D3-brane in the bulk of AdS_5 x S^5. We show that boundary conditions on this D3-brane preserve integrability of the AdS string. For that matter we construct dynamical and spectral parameter dependent reflection matrix that encodes an infinite number of conserved charges on the worldsheet of an open string ending on the D-brane.

't Hooft loops in N=4 super-Yang-Mills

We set up a perturbative framework for the 't Hooft line in the N=4 super-Yang-Mills theory, and apply it to correlators thereof with Wilson loops and local operators. Using this formalism we obtain a number of perturbative and non-perturbative results that directly connect to localization, holography and integrability.

Linear Quivers at Large-$N$

Quiver theories constitute an important class of supersymmetric gauge theories with well-defined holographic duals. Motivated by holographic duality, we use localisation on $S^d$ to study long linear quivers at large-N. The large-N solution shows a remarkable degree of universality across dimensions, including $d = 4$ where quivers are genuinely superconformal. In that case we upgrade the solution of long quivers to quivers of any length.

Vacuum Condensates on the Coulomb Branch

We study correlation functions on the Coulomb branch of planar $\mathcal{N} = 4$ super-Yang- Mills theory (SYM), and their relationship with integrability, the operator product expansion (OPE), the sum rule, the large charge expansion, and holography. First, we compute one-point functions of arbitrary scalar operators at weak coupling and derive a compact spin-chain representation. We next study the two-point functions of chiral primaries at one loop and find that the radius of convergence of OPE in position space is infinite. We estimate the asymptotic growth of the OPE data based on this finding. Finally, we propose a concrete nonperturbative formula that connects the correlation functions on the Coulomb branch with the correlation functions with large charge insertions at the conformal point and provide a holographic interpretation based on a large D3-brane in AdS. The formula extends the known connection between the large charge sector and the Coulomb branch for rank-1 theories to the large $N$ limit.

Peierls Transition in Gross-Neveu Model from Bethe Ansatz

The two-dimensional Gross-Neveu model is anticipated to undergo a crystalline phase transition at high baryon charge densities. This conclusion is drawn from the mean-field approximation, which closely resembles models of Peierls instability. We demonstrate that this transition indeed occurs when both the rank of the symmetry group and the dimension of the particle representation contributing to the baryon density are large (the large-N limit). We derive this result through the exact solution of the model, developing the large-N limit of the Bethe Ansatz. Our analytical construction of the large-N solution of the Bethe Ansatz equations aligns perfectly with the periodic (finite-gap) solution of the Korteweg-de Vries (KdV) of the mean-field analysis.

Loop equations for generalised eigenvalue models

We derive the loop equation for the 1-matrix model with generic difference-type measure for eigenvalues and develop a recursive algebraic framework for solving it to an arbitrary order in the coupling constant in and beyond the planar approximation. The planar limit is solved exactly for a one-parametric family of models and in the general case at strong coupling. The Wilson loop in the N=2* super-Yang-Mills theory and the Hoppe model are used to illustrate our methods.

Integrable Holographic Defect CFTs

We review a class of integrable, supersymmetric defect conformal field theories which have holographic duals in the form of probe brane models. Our main examples are defect versions of N=4 SYM and ABJM theory, both involving a domain wall with Nahm pole boundary conditions, and the case of a 't Hooft line embedded in N=4 SYM. The field theory defect respectively the probe D-brane can be described as an integrable boundary state of the integrable system underlying the AdS/CFT correspondence.

Large-N Principal Chiral Model in Arbitrary External Fields

We report the explicit solution for the vacuum state of the two-dimensional $SU(N)$ Principal Chiral Model at large-$N$ for an arbitrary set of chemical potentials and any interaction strength, a unique result of such kind for an asymptotically free QFT. The solution matches one-loop perturbative calculation at weak coupling, and in the opposite strong-coupling regime exhibits an emergent spacial dimension from the continuum limit of the $SU(N)$ Dynkin diagram.

't Hooft loops and integrability

We consider the defect CFT defined by a 't Hooft line embedded in N=4 super Yang-Mills theory. By explicitly quantizing around the given background we exactly reproduce a prediction from S-duality for the correlators between the 't Hooft line and chiral primaries in the bulk and pave the way for higher loop analyses for non-protected operators. Furthermore, we demonstrate at the leading perturbative order that correlators between the 't Hooft line and non-protected bulk operators can be efficiently computed using integrability. As a byproduct we find new integrable overlaps in sl(2) spin chains in different representations.

Integrable domain walls in ABJM theory

One-point functions of local operators are studied, at weak and strong coupling, for the ABJM theory in the presence of a 1/2 BPS domain wall. In the underlying quantum spin chain the domain wall is represented by a boundary state which we show is integrable yielding a compact determinant formula for one-point functions of generic operators.

Duality Relations for Overlaps of Integrable Boundary States in AdS/dCFT

The encoding of all possible sets of Bethe equations for a spin chain with SU(N|M) symmetry into a QQ-system calls for an expression of spin chain overlaps entirely in terms of Q-functions. We take a significant step towards deriving such a universal formula in the case of overlaps between Bethe eigenstates and integrable boundary states, of relevance for AdS/dCFT, by determining the transformation properties of the overlaps under fermionic as well as bosonic dualities which allows us to move between any two descriptions of the spin chain encoded in the QQ-system. An important part of our analysis involves introducing a suitable regularization for singular Bethe root configurations.

String integrability of defect CFT and dynamical reflection matrices

The D3-D5 probe-brane system is holographically dual to a defect CFT which is known to be integrable. The evidence comes mainly from the study of correlation functions at weak coupling. In the present work we shed light on the emergence of integrability on the string theory side. We do so by constructing the double row transfer matrix which is conserved when the appropriate boundary conditions are imposed. The corresponding reflection matrix turns out to be dynamical and depends both on the spectral parameter and the string embedding coordinates.

Overlaps and Fermionic Dualities for Integrable Super Spin Chains

The psu(2,2|4) integrable super spin chain underlying the AdS/CFT correspondence has integrable boundary states which describe set-ups where k D3-branes get dissolved in a probe D5-brane. Overlaps between Bethe eigenstates and these boundary states encode the one-point functions of conformal operators and are expressed in terms of the superdeterminant of the Gaudin matrix that in turn depends on the Dynkin diagram of the symmetry algebra. The different possible Dynkin diagrams of super Lie algebras are related via fermionic dualities and we determine how overlap formulae transform under these dualities. As an application we show how to consistently move between overlap formulae obtained for k=1 from different Dynkin diagrams.
