Iorio's "high-precision measurement" of frame-dragging with the Mars Global Surveyor

In two analyses of orbital data from the Mars Global Surveyor spacecraft, Iorio [1,2] has claimed confirmation of the frame-dragging effect predicted by general relativity. Initially to an accuracy of 6%, and now 0.5%, exceeding the expected accuracy of NASA's Gravity Probe B. It is shown his results come from misinterpreting the MGS data and then altering a key time period.

Gravitation Without Curved Space-time

A quantum-mechanical theory of gravitation is presented, where the motion of particles is based on the optics of de Broglie waves. Here the large-scale geometry of the universe is inherently flat, and its age is not constrained to < 13 Gyr. While this theory agrees with the standard experimental tests of Einstein's general relativity, it predicts a different second-order deflection of light, and measurement of the Lense-Thirring effect in the upcoming NASA experiment Gravity Probe B.

Galactic Nuclei and Jets in Wave Gravity

"Wave gravity" refers to a quantum-mechanical gravity theory introduced in two previous papers [1,2]. Although based on the optics of de Broglie waves instead of curved space-time, it agrees with the standard tests of general relativity. As in that theory, galactic nuclei are dark objects where gravity prevents the escape of most radiation. In this case, collapse is counteracted by rising internal pressure and black hole singularities don't occur. Unlike black holes, these nuclei can have internal magnetic fields, and high-energy plasma can escape along magnetic field lines closely aligned with the gravitational field direction. This allows a different model of jets from active galactic nuclei, where jets can arise without direct fueling by accretion disks. It also offers a new basis for the tight correlation observed [13] between the masses of galactic nuclei and their hosts.

Equations of Motion in a Quantum-mechanical Theory of Gravity

An earlier paper [1] presented a gravity theory based on the optics of de Broglie waves rather than curved space-time. While the universe's geometry is flat, it agrees with the standard tests of general relativity. A second paper [2] showed that, unlike general relativity, it agrees with Doppler tracking signals from the Pioneer 10 and 11 space probes. There a gravitational acceleration equation plays an important role, accounting for the relative motions of Earth and the probes. Here it's shown that equation also describes Mercury's orbit.

Origin of the Blueshift in Signals from Pioneer 10 and 11

A previous paper [1] introduced a quantum-mechanical theory of gravity, and showed it agrees with the standard experimental tests of general relativity. Doppler tracking signals returned by the Pioneer 10 and 11 space probes offer an additional test. Analysis by Anderson, Laing, Lau, Liu, Neito and Turyshev [2] finds a persistent blueshift, equivalent to an extra acceleration of the probes toward the Sun. While unexplained by general relativity or prevailing cosmology, it's shown this effect is predicted by the quantum-mechanical alternative.
