Execution and Other Details for New Space Experiment Proposed for General Relativity

Following two dictums roadmap of Einstein (one, for incorporation of maximum of empirical facts, and the other, on long continued experimental verifications for perfecting a scientific theory) for future generations to make his General Relativity Theory (GRT) evolve to perfection, it is necessary to experimentally confirm his concept on General relativistic nature of speed of light, c, which relates to the variation of c under the influence of gravitational field, and whose experimental confirmation is long overdue. This paper gives the Execution and some Additional Details for the Space Experiment Proposed for GRT, so that any of the Space research organizations (viz., NASA, ESA, ASI, ISRO, etc.) would conduct this low cost experiment, during Space missions to Mercury, Venus, or the sun, or may choose to conduct it as an independent space mission as the cost may be brought down by sending micro satellites using the launch sharing facility of any other lending country. Even an advanced country may conduct this experiment at low cost by sending a micro satellite (called a co-passenger satellite) by arranging with the Space research organization of any lending country, which is sending a primary satellite for a space mission to any of the desired locations. At present, even a small country interested in making a historic contribution for making GRT of Einstein evolve, but not having a Space research organization, may contract with an experienced organization, or hire the services of an experienced project director who * can organize the planning, procurement, and launching of a micro satellite carrying the laser device, from launch pad of another country (adopting the piggy back launching method), and * can guide (else, can hire the services of a Principal Investigator, from some renowned institute) remote operation of the laser device for a few days.

Unexplored Aspect of Velocity of light

In the post-Maxwellian era, sensing that the tide of discoveries in electromagnetim indicated a decline of the mechanical view, Einstein replaced Newton's three absolutes -- space, time and mass, with a single one, the velocity of light. The magnitude of the velocity of light was first determined and proven to be finite independently by Ole Romer and Bradley in the eighteenth century. In the nineteenth century, Fizeau carried out the first successful measurement of the speed of light using an earthbound apparatus. Thereafter, many earthbound experiments were conducted for its determination till 1983, when its magnitude was frozen at a fixed value after it was determined up to an accuracy level of a fraction of a meter per second. Einstein considered the speed of light derived from terrestrial experiments, to be the limiting speed of all natural phenomena. Einstein stated in connection with his general relativity theory that light rays could curve only when the velocity of propagation of light varies with position. Experiments have been conducted to prove the phenomenon of light deflection to higher and higher accuracy levels, but none so far to determine the speed of light at locations closer to the sun. To verify some essential aspects of general relativity, NASA had commendably planned many costly experiments. Hence, NASA can now be expected to expeditiously plan and execute the low cost experiment proposed here, so as to conclusively verify the effect of the solar gravitational field on the speed of light, as regards the important predictions of Einstein's theory of gravitation and of its remodeled form -- the Remodeled Relativity Theory, which retained and incorporated only experimentally proven concepts and principles.

Remodeled Relativity Theory

This remodeled form of Einstein's relativity theories retains and incorporates only experimentally proven principles. It is based on a generalized law for spinning and rotational motions, which is in fact the conservation law of momentum vector direction, and can be successfully used for the precision computation of planetary and lunar orbits. The most fundamental principles of the remodeled relativity theory are the conservation laws of energy and momentum. Based on experience of relativity experiments, we adopted the principles that energy level is the underlying cause for relativistic effects, and that mass is expressed by the relativistic energy equation from Einstein. From space age ephemeris generation experience and following nature's way to conserve energy and momentum, we found reason to replace the concept of "relativity of all frames" with that of "nature's preferred frame", which helped us to escape Einstein's dilemma till 1912, when he concluded that 'there is no way of escape from the consequence of non-Euclidean geometry, if all frames are permissible'. Einstein formulated gtr as a law for all frames, but physicists and astronomers have continued to adopt one or other 'ad-hoc' approach not in full conformity with the basic tenets of gtr/str. Based on above principles, a comprehensive remodeling led to this theory that uses Euclidean space to consistently and successfully simulate numerically the results of all the "well-established" tests of gtr (as in our earlier papers), and for the precise calculation of relativistic effects observed in case of the GPS applications, and other tests of str. It combined the essential essence of gtr/str, and the experience of relativity experiments, and has been shown to avoid the inadequacies of the former.
