Link Floer homology, nonformality, and the Borromean rings

Our main result is a computation of the full link Floer complex of the Borromean rings. The Borromean rings are well known to be an L-space link. We prove that the full link Floer complex is not a free-resolution of its homology, in contrast to the situation for L-space knots, plumbed L-space links, and two-component L-space links. We also describe the link involution of the Borromean rings, up to a minor ambiguity. The proof goes by way of studying some general techniques about $A_\infty$-deformations of L-space link Floer complexes. Our techniques give a simple criterion for when an L-space link must have formal link Floer complex, which reproves the existing formality results for one- and two-component L-space links.

A note on real Heegaard Floer homology and localization

We prove the existence of a localization spectral sequence for the hat variant of Guth and Manolescu's recent construction of real Heegaard Floer homology, and apply it to branched double covers and strongly invertible knots. Our construction applies to real Lagrangian Floer homology in exact symplectic manifolds equipped with anti-symplectic involutions more generally, and may be of independent interest to symplectic geometers.

The link surgery formula and equivariant surgeries

We prove an equivariant version of the Heegaard Floer link surgery formula. As a special case, this gives an equivariant knot surgery formula for equivariant knots in $S^3$. Our proof goes by way of a naturality theorem for certain bordered modules described by the last author. As a sample application, we prove the kernel of the forgetful map from the equivariant homology cobordism group to the homology cobordism group contains a $\Z^\infty$-summand.

A note on cables and the involutive concordance invariants

We prove a formula for the involutive concordance invariants of the cabled knots in terms of that of the companion knot and the pattern knot. As a consequence, we show that any iterated cable of a knot with parameters of the form (odd,1) is not smoothly slice as long as either of the involutive concordance invariants of the knot is nonzero. Our formula also gives new bounds for the unknotting number of a cabled knot, which are sometimes stronger than other known bounds coming from knot Floer homology.

Symplectic annular Khovanov homology and fixed point localizations

We introduce a new version of symplectic annular Khovanov homology and establish spectral sequences from (i) the symplectic annular Khovanov homology of a knot to the link Floer homology of the lift of the annular axis in the double branched cover; (ii) the symplectic Khovanov homology of a two-periodic knot to the symplectic annular Khovanov homology of its quotient; and (iii) the symplectic Khovanov homology of a strongly invertible knot to the cone of the axis-moving map between the symplectic annular Khovanov homology of the two resolutions of its quotient.

A note on the involutive invariants of splices

A natural family of potentially 2-torsion elements in the integer homology cobordism group consists of splices of knots with their mirrors. We show that such 3-manifolds have locally trivial involutive Floer homology. We show some related families of splices also have locally trivial involutive Floer homology. Our arguments show that many gauge theoretic invariants also vanish on these 3-manifolds.

An involutive dual knot surgery formula

We prove an involutive analog of the dual knot surgery formula of Eftekhary and Hedden-Levine. We also compute a small model for the local equivalence class of the involutive dual knot complex.

Naturality and functoriality in involutive Heegaard Floer homology

We prove first-order naturality of involutive Heegaard Floer homology, and furthermore construct well-defined maps on involutive Heegaard Floer homology associated to cobordisms between three-manifolds. We also prove analogous naturality and functoriality results for involutive Floer theory for knots and links. The proof relies on the doubling model for the involution, as well as several variations.

A note on PL-disks and rationally slice knots

We give infinitely many examples of manifold-knot pairs (Y, J) such that Y bounds an integer homology ball, J does not bound a non-locally-flat PL-disk in any integer homology ball, but J does bound a smoothly embedded disk in a rational homology ball. The proof relies on formal properties of involutive Heegaard Floer homology.

Bordered Floer homology and contact structures

We introduce a contact invariant in the bordered sutured Heegaard Floer homology of a three-manifold with boundary. The input for the invariant is a contact manifold $(M, \xi, \mathcal{F})$ whose convex boundary is equipped with a signed singular foliation $\mathcal{F}$ closely related to the characteristic foliation. Such a manifold admits a family of foliated open book decompositions classified by a Giroux Correspondence, as described in earlier work of Licata and V\'ertesi. We use a special class of foliated open books to construct admissible bordered sutured Heegaard diagrams and identify well-defined classes $c_D$ and $c_A$ in the corresponding bordered sutured modules. Foliated open books exhibit user-friendly gluing behavior, and we show that the pairing on invariants induced by gluing compatible foliated open books recovers the Heegaard Floer contact invariant for closed contact manifolds. We also consider a natural map associated to forgetting the foliation $\mathcal{F}$ in favor of the dividing set, and show that it maps the bordered sutured invariant to the contact invariant of a sutured manifold defined by Honda-Kazez-Mati\'{c}.

Surgery exact triangles in involutive Heegaard Floer homology

We establish a surgery exact triangle for involutive Heegaard Floer homology by using a doubling model of the involution. We use this exact triangle to give an involutive version of Ozsv\'ath-Szab\'o's mapping cone formula for knot surgery. As an application, we use this surgery formula to give examples of integer homology spheres that are not homology cobordant to any linear combination of Seifert fibered spaces.

Rank inequalities for the Heegaard Floer homology of branched covers

Given a double cover between 3-manifolds branched along a nullhomologous link, we establish an inequality between the dimensions of their Heegaard Floer homologies. We discuss the relationship with the L-space conjecture and give some other topological applications, as well as an analogous result for sutured Floer homology.

Correction to the paper "A flexible construction of equivariant Floer homology and applications"

We correct a mistake regarding almost complex structures on Hilbert schemes of points in surfaces in arXiv:1510.02449. The error does not affect the main results of the paper, and only affects the proofs of invariance of equivariant symplectic Khovanov homology and reduced symplectic Khovanov homology. We give an alternate proof of the invariance of equivariant symplectic Khovanov homology.

Applications of involutive Heegaard Floer homology

We use Heegaard Floer homology to define an invariant of homology cobordism. This invariant is isomorphic to a summand of the reduced Heegaard Floer homology of a rational homology sphere equipped with a spin structure and is analogous to Stoffregen's connected Seiberg-Witten Floer homology. We use this invariant to study the structure of the homology cobordism group and, along the way, compute the involutive correction terms for certain families of three-manifolds.

Involutive bordered Floer homology

We give a bordered extension of involutive HF-hat and use it to give an algorithm to compute involutive HF-hat for general 3-manifolds. We also explain how the mapping class group action on HF-hat can be computed using bordered Floer homology. As applications, we prove that involutive HF-hat satisfies a surgery exact triangle and compute HFI-hat of the branched double covers of all 10-crossing knots.
