On Integrable Structures on Non-compact Boundaries in Three-Dimensional Gravity

We study three-dimensional Einstein gravity with negative cosmological constant on non-compact spatial boundaries within the Chern-Simons formulation. Using an exact fluid/gravity correspondence, we derive a closed radial flow equation for the quasi-local stress tensor and show that it realizes the holographic $\sqrt{T\bar T}$ deformation at finite cutoff. We further develop the inverse-scattering description of the boundary dynamics, identifying the gravitational interpretation of the associated spectral data and analyzing the finite-cutoff deformation of soliton solutions. Although the boundary evolution is governed by an integrable bi-Hamiltonian hierarchy, we show that the radial flow itself is not Hamiltonian with respect to the canonical Poisson structure. Our results establish a unified framework connecting integrability, quasi-local gravitational observables, inverse scattering, and finite-cutoff holography on non-compact boundaries.

Holographic warped CFTs from General Relativity on AdS$_3$

We introduce a new set of boundary conditions for three-dimensional Einstein gravity with negative cosmological constant. The canonical generators plainly realize the semidirect sum of Virasoro and $u(1)$ Kac-Moody algebras in its standard form, without the need of additional redefinitions of the global charges. We show that requiring Euclidean BTZ and thermal AdS$_3$ to be diffeomorphic precisely induces the warped modular $S$-transformation of the chemical potentials. The corresponding warped Cardy formula then exactly reproduces the Bekenstein-Hawking entropy, where the ground state is identified as Euclidean AdS$_3$. An explicit comparison with the boundary conditions of Brown-Henneaux and Compere-Song-Strominger is also addressed.

1/c deformations of AdS$_3$ boundary conditions and the Dym hierarchy

This work introduces a novel family of boundary conditions for AdS$_3$ General Relativity, constructed through a polynomial expansion in negative integer powers of the Brown-Henneaux central charge. The associated dynamics is governed by the Dym hierarchy of integrable equations. It is shown that the infinite set of Dym conserved charges generates an abelian asymptotic symmetry group. Additionally, these boundary conditions encompass black hole solutions, whose thermodynamic properties are examined.

Reverse stealth construction and its thermodynamic imprints

We study a class of solutions within the context of modified gravity theories, characterized by a non-trivial field that does not generate any back-reaction on the metric. These stealth configurations are effectively defined by the stealth conditions, which correspond to a vanishing stress-energy tensor. In this work, we introduce a novel approach to constructing this class of solutions. In contrast to the standard procedure, the starting point requires satisfying the stealth conditions for a given ansatz independently of the gravitational dynamics. This approach simultaneously determines the non-trivial field and the geometries capable of supporting it as a stealth configuration. Consequently, a gravity model can accommodate a stealth field only if its vacuum solution falls within the geometries permissible under stealth conditions. By applying this reverse procedure in the non-minimal $Rϕ^2$ coupling, we recover all previously known stealth configurations and present new solutions. Although it seems intuitive to assume that this ``gravitationally undetectable'' scalar field leaves no physical traces, it remarkably reveals thermodynamic imprints, as its presence screens the black hole mass and modifies the entropy according to the first law.

DC conductance and memory in 3D gravity

Transport properties are investigated in the two-dimensional dual dynamics of AdS$_{3}$ gravity. By providing boundary conditions that deform the ADM lapse and shift functions, we construct a lower dimensional model comprising two copies of chiral boson excitations with anisotropic scaling symmetry. Using bosonization, an electric current is identified. By means of the Kubo formula, we find a DC conductance depending on the level of the theory and the dynamical exponents. The bulk realization of the linear response is related to a type of gravitational memory emerging in the context of near-horizon boundary conditions. The process is adiabatic and represents a permanent spacetime deformation parametrized by anisotropic chiral bosons through a large gauge transformation.

Phase transitions of black strings in dynamical Chern-Simons modified gravity

We study conserved charges and thermodynamics of analytic rotating anti-de Sitter black holes with extended horizon topology -- also known as black strings -- in dynamical Chern-Simons modified gravity. The solution is supported by a scalar field with an axionic profile that depends linearly on the coordinate that spans the string. We compute conserved charges by making use of the renormalized boundary stress-energy tensor. Then, by adopting the Noether-Wald formalism, we compute the black string entropy and obtain its area law. Indeed, the reduced Euclidean Hamiltonian approach shows that these methods yield a consistent first law of thermodynamics. Additionally, we derive a Smarr formula using a radial conservation law associated to the scale invariance of the reduced action and obtain a Cardy formula for the black string. A first-order phase transition takes place at a critical temperature between the ground state and the black string, above which the black string is the thermodynamically favored configuration.

Integrable Systems and Spacetime Dynamics

It is shown that the Ablowitz-Kaup-Newell-Segur (AKNS) integrable hierarchy can be obtained as the dynamical equations of three-dimensional General Relativity with a negative cosmological constant. This geometrization of the AKNS system is possible through the construction of novel boundary conditions for the gravitational field. These are invariant under an asymptotic symmetry group characterized by an infinite set of AKNS commuting conserved charges. Gravitational configurations are studied by means of $SL(2,\mathbb{R})$ conjugacy classes. Conical singularities and black hole solutions are included in the boundary conditions.
