Reconstructing Higgs boson properties from the LHC and Tevatron data

We perform a phenomenological fit to all ATLAS, CMS, CDF and D0 Higgs boson data available after Moriond 2012. We allow all Higgs boson branching fractions, its couplings to standard model particles, as well as to an hypothetical invisible sector to vary freely, and determine their current favourite values. The standard model Higgs boson with a mass 125 GeV correctly predicts the average observed rate and provides an acceptable global fit to data. However, better fits are obtained by non-standard scenarios that reproduce anomalies in the present data (more γγ and less WW signals than expected), such as modified rates of loop processes or partial fermiophobia. We find that present data disfavours Higgs boson invisible decays. We consider implications for the standard model, for supersymmetric and fermiophobic Higgs bosons, for dark matter models, for warped extra-dimensions.

Symmetryless Dark Matter

It is appealing to stabilize dark matter by the same discrete symmetry that is used to explain the structure of quark and lepton mass matrices. However, to generate the observed fermion mixing patterns, any flavor symmetry must necessarily be broken, rendering dark matter unstable. We study singlet, doublet and triplet SU(2) multiplets of both scalar and fermion dark matter candidates and enumerate the conditions under which no d < 6 dark matter decay operators are generated even in the case if the flavor symmetry is broken to nothing. We show that the VEVs of flavon scalars transforming as higher multiplets (e.g. triplets) of the flavor group must be at the electroweak scale. The most economical way for that is to use SM Higgs boson(s) as flavons. Such models can be tested by the LHC experiments. This scenario requires the existence of additional Froggatt-Nielsen scalars that generate hierarchies in Yukawa couplings. We study the conditions under which large and small flavor breaking parameters can coexist without destabilizing the dark matter.

Direct detection and CMB constraints on light DM scenario of top quark asymmetry and dijet excess at Tevatron

We study in detail the model by Isidori and Kamenik that is claimed to explain the top quark forward-backward asymmetry at Tevatron, provide GeV-scale dark matter (DM), and possibly improve the agreement between data and theory in Tevatron W+jj events. We compute the DM thermal relic density, the spin-independent DM-nucleon scattering cross section, and the cosmic microwave background constraints on both Dirac and Majorana neutralino DM in the parameter space that explains the top asymmetry. A stable light neutralino is not allowed unless the local DM density is 3-4 times smaller than expected, in which case Dirac DM with mass around 3 GeV may be possible, to be tested by the Planck mission. The model predicts a too broad excess in the dijet distribution and a strong modification of the missing E_T distribution in W+jj events.

New Solution for Neutrino Masses and Leptogenesis in Adjoint SU(5)

We investigate baryogenesis via leptogenesis and generation of neutrino masses and mixings through the Type I plus Type III seesaw plus an one-loop mechanism in the context of Renormalizable Adjoint SU(5) theory. One light neutrino remains massless, because the contributions of three heavy Majorana fermions ρ_0, ρ_3 and ρ_8 to the neutrino mass matrix are not linearly independent. However none of these heavy fermions is decoupled from the generation of neutrino masses. This opens a new range in parameter space for successful leptogenesis, in particular, allows for inverted hierarchy of the neutrino masses.

Dark Matter and Electroweak Symmetry Breaking from $SO(10)$

We consider a minimal model of GUT scalar dark matter (DM) stabilized by the discrete gauge matter parity $P_{X}$ that arises from breaking of $SO(10)$. The dark sector comprises the complex singlet $S$ and the inert doublet $H_{2}$. GUT scale parameters are evaluated to the electroweak scale via Renormalization Group Equations (RGEs). Experimental and theoretical constraints limit the DM mass to the 80 GeV to 2 TeV range. The EW symmetry breaking is radiative and can occur via RGE running and 1-loop matching corrections from integrating out DM. Because the next-to-lightest scalar is almost degenerate with DM, it gives a background free displaced decay vertex at the LHC.

Dark Matter as the signal of Grand Unification

We argue that the existence of Dark Matter (DM) is a possible consequence of GUT symmetry breaking. In GUTs like SO(10), discrete Z_2 matter parity (-1)^{3(B-L)} survives despite of broken B-L, and group theory uniquely determines that the only possible Z_2-odd matter multiplets belong to representation 16. We construct the minimal non-SUSY SO(10) model containing one scalar 16 for DM and study its predictions below M_{G}. We find that EWSB occurs radiatively due to DM couplings to the SM Higgs boson. For thermal relic DM the mass range M_{DM}\sim (0.1-1) TeV is predicted by model perturbativity up to M_{G}. For M_{DM}\sim (1) TeV to explain the observed cosmic ray anomalies with DM decays, there exists a lower bound on the spin-independent direct detection cross section within the reach of planned experiments.

Matter parity as the origin of scalar Dark Matter

We extend the concept of matter parity $P_M=(-1)^{3(B-L)}$ to non-supersymmetric theories and argue that $P_M$ is the natural explanation to the existence of Dark Matter of the Universe. We show that the non-supersymmetric Dark Matter must be contained in scalar 16 representation(s) of $SO(10),$ thus the unique low energy Dark Matter candidates are $P_M$-odd complex scalar singlet(s) $S$ and inert scalar doublet(s) $H_2.$ We have calculated the thermal relic Dark Matter abundance of the model and shown that its minimal form may be testable at LHC via the SM Higgs boson decays $H_1\to DM DM.$ The PAMELA anomaly can be explained with the decays $DM\to νl W$ induced via seesaw-like operator which is additionally suppressed by Planck scale. Because the SM fermions are odd under matter parity too, the DM sector is just our scalar relative.

Muon Anomalous Magnetic Moment and Lepton Flavor Violating Tau Decay in Unparticle Physics

We study effects of unparticle physics on muon g-2 and LFV tau decay processes. LFV interactions between the Standard Model sector and unparticles can explain the difference of experimental value of muon g-2 from the Standard Model prediction. While the same couplings generate LFV tau decay, we found that LFV coupling can be of O(0.1 ... 1) without conflict with experimental bounds of LFV tau decay if the scaling dimension of unparticle operator d_{U} > 1.6.

Emanations of Dark Matter: Muon Anomalous Magnetic Moment, Radiative Neutrino Mass, and Novel Leptogenesis at the TeV Scale

The evidence for dark matter signals a new class of particles at the TeV scale, which may manifest themselves indirectly through loop effects. In a simple model we show that these loop effects may be responsible for the enhanced muon anomalous magnetic moment, for the neutrino mass, as well as for leptogenesis in a novel way. This scenario can be verified at LHC experiments.

Running of Low-Energy Neutrino Masses, Mixing Angles and CP Violation

We calculate the running of low-energy neutrino parameters from the bottom up, parameterizing the unknown seesaw parameters in terms of the dominance matrix $R$. We find significant running only if the $R$ matrix is non-trivial and the light-neutrino masses are moderately degenerate. If the light-neutrino masses are very hierarchical, the quark-lepton complementarity relation $θ_c + θ_{12} = π/4$ is quite stable, but $θ_{13,23}$ may run beyond their likely future experimental errors. The running of the oscillation phase $δ$ is enhanced by the smallness of $θ_{13}$, and jumps in the mixing angles occur in cases where the light-neutrino mass eigenstates cross.
