Pseudotoric structures and special Lagrangian torus fibrations on certain flag varieties

We construct pseudotoric structures (à la Tyurin) on the two-step flag variety $F\ell_{1, n-1; n}$, and explain a general relation between pseudotoric structures and special Lagrangian torus fibrations, the latter of which are important in the study of SYZ mirror symmetry. As an application, we speculate how our constructions can explain the number of terms in the superpotential of Rietsch's Landau-Ginzburg mirror.

Open Gromov-Witten invariants and mirror maps for semi-Fano toric manifolds

We prove that for a compact toric manifold whose anti-canonical divisor is numerically effective, the Lagrangian Floer superpotential defined by Fukaya-Oh-Ohto-Ono is equal to the superpotential written down by using the toric mirror map under a convergence assumption. This gives a method to compute open Gromov-Witten invariants using mirror symmetry.

Scattering diagrams from asymptotic analysis on Maurer-Cartan equations

Let $\check{X}_0$ be a semi-flat Calabi-Yau manifold equipped with a Lagrangian torus fibration $\check{p}:\check{X}_0 \rightarrow B_0$. We investigate the asymptotic behavior of Maurer-Cartan solutions of the Kodaira-Spencer deformation theory on $\check{X}_0$ by expanding them into Fourier series along fibres of $\check{p}$ over a contractible open subset $U\subset B_0$, following a program set forth by Fukaya in 2005. We prove that semi-classical limits (i.e. leading order terms in asymptotic expansions) of the Fourier modes of a specific class of Maurer-Cartan solutions naturally give rise to consistent scattering diagrams, which are tropical combinatorial objects that have played a crucial role in works of Kontsevich-Soibelman and Gross-Siebert on the reconstruction problem in mirror symmetry.

SYZ transforms for immersed Lagrangian multi-sections

In this paper, we study the geometry of the SYZ transform on a semi-flat Lagrangian torus fibration. Our starting point is an investigation on the relation between Lagrangian surgery of a pair of straight lines in a symplectic 2-torus and extension of holomorphic vector bundles over the mirror elliptic curve, via the SYZ transform for immersed Lagrangian multi-sections. This study leads us to a new notion of equivalence between objects in the immersed Fukaya category of a general compact symplectic manifold $(M, ω)$, under which the immersed Floer cohomology is invariant; in particular, this provides an answer to a question of Akaho-Joyce. Furthermore, if $M$ admits a Lagrangian torus fibration over an integral affine manifold, we prove, under some additional assumptions, that this new equivalence is mirror to isomorphism between holomorphic vector bundles over the dual torus fibration via the SYZ transform.

On the jumping phenomenon of $\dim_{\mathbb{C}}H^q(\mathcal{X}_t,\mathcal{E}_t)$

Let $X$ be a compact complex manifold and $E$ be a holomorphic vector bundle on $X$. Given a deformation $(\mathcal{X},\mathcal{E})$ of the pair $(X,E)$ over a small polydisk $B$ centered at the origin, we study the jumping phenomenon of the cohomology groups $\dim_{\mathbb{C}}H^q(\mathcal{X}_t,\mathcal{E}_t)$ near $t = 0$. Generalizing previous results of X. Ye for the tangent bundle $E = T_{\mathcal{X}_t}$ and exterior powers of the cotangent bundle $E = Ω^p_{\mathcal{X}_t}$, we show that there are precisely two cohomological obstructions to the stability of $\dim_{\mathbb{C}}H^q(\mathcal{X}_t,\mathcal{E}_t)$, which can be expressed explicitly in terms of the Maurer-Cartan element associated to the deformation $(\mathcal{X},\mathcal{E})$. As an application, we study the jumping phenomenon of the dimension of the cohomology group $H^1(\mathcal{X}_t,\text{End}(T_{\mathcal{X}_t}))$ which is related to a question raised by physicists.

Quasimap SYZ for toric Calabi-Yau manifolds

In this note, we study the SYZ mirror construction for a toric Calabi-Yau manifold using instanton corrections coming from Woodward's quasimap Floer theory instead of Fukaya-Oh-Ohta-Ono's Lagrangian Floer theory. We show that the resulting SYZ mirror coincides with the one written down via physical means (as expected).

BV quantization of the Rozansky-Witten model

We investigate the perturbative aspects of Rozansky-Witten's 3d $σ$-model using Costello's approach to the Batalin-Vilkovisky (BV) formalism. We show that the BV quantization (in Costello's sense) of the model, which produces a perturbative quantum field theory, can be obtained via the configuration space method of regularization due to Kontsevich and Axelrod-Singer. We also study the factorization algebra structure for quantum observables following Costello-Gwilliam. In particular, we show that the cohomology of local quantum observables on a genus $g$ handle body is given by $H^*(X,(\wedge^*T_X)^{\otimes g})$ (where $X$ is the target manifold), and prove that the partition function reproduces the Rozansky-Witten invariants.

Homological mirror symmetry for local Calabi-Yau manifolds via SYZ

This is a write-up of the author's talk in the conference "Algebraic Geometry in East Asia 2016" held at the University of Tokyo in January 2016. We give a survey on a series of papers of the author and his collaborators Daniel Pomerleano and Kazushi Ueda where we show how Strominger-Yau-Zaslow (SYZ) transforms can be applied to understand the geometry of Kontsevich's homological mirror symmetry (HMS) conjecture for certain local Calabi-Yau manifolds.

Lagrangian sections on mirrors of toric Calabi-Yau 3-folds

We construct Lagrangian sections of a Lagrangian torus fibration on a 3-dimensional conic bundle, which are SYZ dual to holomorphic line bundles over the mirror toric Calabi-Yau 3-fold. We then demonstrate a ring isomorphism between the wrapped Floer cohomology of the zero-section and the regular functions on the mirror toric Calabi-Yau 3-fold. Furthermore, we show that in the case when the Calabi-Yau 3-fold is affine space, the zero section generates the wrapped Fukaya category of the mirror conic bundle. This allows us to complete the proof of one direction of homological mirror symmetry for toric Calabi-Yau orbifold quotients of the form $\mathbb{C}^3/\Check{G}$. We finish by describing some elementary applications of our computations to symplectic topology.

Open Gromov-Witten invariants, mirror maps, and Seidel representations for toric manifolds

Let $X$ be a compact toric Kähler manifold with $-K_X$ nef. Let $L\subset X$ be a regular fiber of the moment map of the Hamiltonian torus action on $X$. Fukaya-Oh-Ohta-Ono defined open Gromov-Witten (GW) invariants of $X$ as virtual counts of holomorphic discs with Lagrangian boundary condition $L$. We prove a formula which equates such open GW invariants with closed GW invariants of certain $X$-bundles over $\mathbb{P}^1$ used to construct the Seidel representations for $X$. We apply this formula and degeneration techniques to explicitly calculate all these open GW invariants. This yields a formula for the disc potential of $X$, an enumerative meaning of mirror maps, and a description of the inverse of the ring isomorphism of Fukaya-Oh-Ohta-Ono.

A differential-geometric approach to deformations of pairs $(X,E)$

This article gives an exposition of the deformation theory for pairs $(X, E)$, where $X$ is a compact complex manifold and $E$ is a holomorphic vector bundle over $X$, adapting an analytic viewpoint à la Kodaira-Spencer. By introducing and exploiting an auxiliary differential operator, we derive the Maurer--Cartan equation and differential graded Lie algebra (DGLA) governing the deformation problem, and express them in terms of differential-geometric notions such as the connection and curvature of $E$, obtaining a chain level refinement of the classical results that the tangent space and obstruction space of the moduli problem are respectively given by the first and second cohomology groups of the Atiyah extension of $E$ over $X$. As an application, we give examples where deformations of pairs are unobstructed.

Gross fibrations, SYZ mirror symmetry, and open Gromov-Witten invariants for toric Calabi-Yau orbifolds

For a toric Calabi-Yau (CY) orbifold $\mathcal{X}$ whose underlying toric variety is semi-projective, we construct and study a non-toric Lagrangian torus fibration on $\mathcal{X}$, which we call the Gross fibration. We apply the Strominger-Yau-Zaslow (SYZ) recipe to the Gross fibration of $\mathcal{X}$ to construct its mirror with the instanton corrections coming from genus 0 open orbifold Gromov-Witten (GW) invariants, which are virtual counts of holomorphic orbi-disks in $\mathcal{X}$ bounded by fibers of the Gross fibration. We explicitly evaluate all these invariants by first proving an open/closed equality and then employing the toric mirror theorem for suitable toric (partial) compactifications of $\mathcal{X}$. Our calculations are then applied to (1) prove a conjecture of Gross-Siebert on a relation between genus 0 open orbifold GW invariants and mirror maps of $\mathcal{X}$ -- this is called the open mirror theorem, which leads to an enumerative meaning of mirror maps, and (2) demonstrate how open (orbifold) GW invariants for toric CY orbifolds change under toric crepant resolutions -- an open analogue of Ruan's crepant resolution conjecture.

A Frölicher-type inequality for generalized complex manifolds

We prove a Frölicher-type inequality for a compact generalized complex manifold $M$, and show that the equality holds if and only if $M$ satisfies the generalized $\partial\bar{\partial}$-Lemma. In particular, this gives a unified proof of analogous results in the complex and symplectic cases.

Lagrangian Floer superpotentials and crepant resolutions for toric orbifolds

We investigate the relationship between the Lagrangian Floer superpotentials for a toric orbifold and its toric crepant resolutions. More specifically, we study an open string version of the crepant resolution conjecture (CRC) which states that the Lagrangian Floer superpotential of a Gorenstein toric orbifold $\mathcal{X}$ and that of its toric crepant resolution $Y$ coincide after analytic continuation of quantum parameters and a change of variables. Relating this conjecture with the closed CRC, we find that the change of variable formula which appears in closed CRC can be explained by relations between open (orbifold) Gromov-Witten invariants. We also discover a geometric explanation (in terms of virtual counting of stable orbi-discs) for the specialization of quantum parameters to roots of unity which appears in Y. Ruan's original CRC ["The cohomology ring of crepant resolutions of orbifolds", Gromov-Witten theory of spin curves and orbifolds, 117-126, Contemp. Math., 403, Amer. Math. Soc., Providence, RI, 2006]. We prove the open CRC for the weighted projective spaces $\mathcal{X}=\mathbb{P}(1,\ldots,1,n)$ using an equality between open and closed orbifold Gromov-Witten invariants. Along the way, we also prove an open mirror theorem for these toric orbifolds.
