Deformation rigidity of the double Cayley Grassmannian

The double Cayley Grassmannian is a unique smooth equivariant completion with Picard number one of the 14-dimensional exceptional complex Lie group $G_2$, and it parametrizes eight-dimensional isotropic subalgebras of the complexified bi-octonions. We show the rigidity of the double Cayley Grassmannian under Kähler deformations. This means that for any smooth projective family of complex manifolds over a connected base of which one fiber is biholomorphic to the double Cayley Grassmannian, all other fibers are biholomorphic to the double Cayley Grassmannian.

Complete intersection hyperkähler fourfolds with respect to equivariant vector bundles over rational homogeneous varieties of Picard number one

We classify fourfolds with trivial canonical bundle which are zero loci of general global sections of completely reducible equivariant vector bundles over exceptional homogeneous varieties of Picard number one. By computing their Hodge numbers, we see that there exist no hyperkähler fourfolds among them. This implies that a hyperkähler fourfold represented as the zero locus of a general global section of a completely reducible equivariant vector bundle over a rational homogeneous variety of Picard number one is one of the two cases described by Beauville--Donagi and Debarre--Voisin.

Kähler-Einstein metrics on smooth Fano toroidal symmetric varieties of type AIII

The wonderful compactification $X_m$ of a symmetric homogeneous space of type AIII$(2,m)$ for each $m \geq 4$ is Fano, and its blowup $Y_m$ along the unique closed orbit is Fano if $m \geq 5$ and Calabi-Yau if $m = 4$. Using a combinatorial criterion for K-polystability of smooth Fano spherical varieties obtained by Delcroix, we prove that $X_m$ admits a Kähler-Einstein metric for each $m \geq 4$ and $Y_m$ admits a Kähler-Einstein metric if and only if $m = 4, 5$.

Greatest Ricci lower bounds of projective horospherical manifolds of Picard number one

A horospherical variety is a normal $G$-variety such that a connected reductive algebraic group $G$ acts with an open orbit isomorphic to a torus bundle over a rational homogeneous manifold. The projective horospherical manifolds of Picard number one are classified by Pasquier, and it turned out that the automorphism groups of all nonhomogeneous ones are non-reductive, which implies that they admit no Kähler--Einstein metrics. As a numerical measure of the extent to which a Fano manifold is close to be Kähler--Einstein, we compute the greatest Ricci lower bounds of projective horospherical manifolds of Picard number one using the barycenter of each moment polytope with respect to the Duistermaat--Heckman measure based on a recent work of Delcroix and Hultgren. In particular, the greatest Ricci lower bound of the odd symplectic Grassmannian $\text{SGr}(n,2n+1)$ can be arbitrarily close to zero as $n$ grows.

K-stability of Gorenstein Fano group compactifications with rank two

We give a classification of Gorenstein Fano bi-equivariant compactifications of semisimple complex Lie groups with rank two, and determine which of them are equivariant K-stable and admit (singular) Kähler-Einstein metrics. As a consequence, we obtain several explicit examples of K-stable Fano varieties admitting (singular) Kähler-Einstein metrics. We also compute the greatest Ricci lower bounds, equivalently the delta invariants for K-unstable varieties. This gives us three new examples on which each solution of the Kähler-Ricci flow is of type II.

Equivariant Ulrich bundles on exceptional homogeneous varieties

We prove that the only rational homogeneous varieties with Picard number 1 of the exceptional algebraic groups admitting irreducible equivariant Ulrich vector bundles are the Cayley plane $E_6/P_1$ and the $E_7$-adjoint variety $E_7/P_1$. From this result, we see that a general hyperplane section $F_4/P_4$ of the Cayley plane also has an equivariant but non-irreducible Ulrich bundle.

Moduli spaces of Ulrich bundles on the Fano 3-fold $V_5$

We study moduli spaces of Ulrich bundles of rank $r \geq 2$ on the Fano 3-fold $V_5$ of Picard number 1, degree 5 and index 2. We prove that the moduli space of stable Ulrich bundles of rank $r$ on $V_5$ can be identified with a smooth $(r^2+1)$-dimensional open subset of the moduli space of stable quiver representations with dimension vector $(r, r)$ of the Kronecker quiver with 2 vertices and 3 arrows.

Kähler-Einstein metrics on smooth Fano symmetric varieties with Picard number one

Symmetric varieties are normal equivarient open embeddings of symmetric homogeneous spaces, and they are interesting examples of spherical varieties. We prove that all smooth Fano symmetric varieties with Picard number one admit Kähler-Einstein metrics by using a combinatorial criterion for K-stability of Fano spherical varieties obtained by Delcroix. For this purpose, we present their algebraic moment polytopes and compute the barycenter of each moment polytope with respect to the Duistermaat-Heckman measure.

Small toric resolutions of toric varieties of string polytopes with small indices

Let $G$ be a semisimple algebraic group over $\mathbb{C}$. For a reduced word $\bf i$ of the longest element in the Weyl group of $G$ and a dominant integral weight $λ$, one can construct the string polytope $Δ_{\bf i}(λ)$, whose lattice points encode the character of the irreducible representation $V_λ$. The string polytope $Δ_{\bf i}(λ)$ is singular in general and combinatorics of string polytopes heavily depends on the choice of $\mathbf i$. In this paper, we study combinatorics of string polytopes when $G = SL_{n+1}(\mathbb{C})$, and present a sufficient condition on $\mathbf i$ such that the toric variety $X_{Δ_{\mathbf i}(λ)}$ of the string polytope $Δ_{\mathbf i}(λ)$ has a small toric resolution. Indeed, when $\mathbf i$ has small indices and $λ$ is regular, we explicitly construct a small toric resolution of the toric variety $X_{Δ_{\bf i}(λ)}$ using a Bott manifold. Our main theorem implies that a toric variety of any string polytope admits a small toric resolution when $n < 4$. As a byproduct, we show that if $\mathbf i$ has small indices then $Δ_{\mathbf i}(λ)$ is integral for any dominant integral weight $λ$, which in particular implies that the anticanonical limit toric variety $X_{Δ_{\bf i}(λ_P)}$ of a partial flag variety $G/P$ is Gorenstein Fano. Furthermore, we apply our result to symplectic topology of the full flag manifold $G/B$ and obtain a formula of the disk potential of the Lagrangian torus fibration on $G/B$ obtained from a flat toric degeneration of $G/B$ to the toric variety $X_{Δ_{\bf i}(λ)}$.

On the combinatorics of string polytopes

For a reduced word ${\bf i}$ of the longest element in the Weyl group of $\mathrm{SL}_{n+1}(\mathbb{C})$, one can associate the string cone $C_{\bf i}$ which parametrizes the dual canonical bases. In this paper, we classify all ${\bf i}$'s such that $C_{\bf i}$ is simplicial. We also prove that for any regular dominant weight $λ$ of $\mathfrak{sl}_{n+1}(\mathbb{C})$, the corresponding string polytope $Δ_{\bf i}(λ)$ is unimodularly equivalent to the Gelfand-Cetlin polytope associated to $λ$ if and only if $C_{\bf i}$ is simplicial. Thus we completely characterize Gelfand-Cetlin type string polytopes in terms of ${\bf i}$.

Standard Embeddings of Smooth Schubert Varieties in Rational Homogeneous Manifolds of Picard Number 1

Smooth Schubert varieties in rational homogeneous manifolds of Picard number 1 are horospherical varieties. We characterize standard embeddings of smooth Schubert varieties in rational homogeneous manifolds of Picard number 1 by means of varieties of minimal rational tangents. In particular, we mainly consider nonhomogeneous smooth Schubert varieties in symplectic Grassmannians and in the 20-dimensional $F_4$-homogeneous manifold associated to a short simple root.
