Efficiency measurements of GEM GE1/1 chambers in the upgraded CMS Endcap Muon System using 2023 collision data at $\sqrt{s}=13.6$ TeV

The CMS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider employs Gas Electron Multiplier (GEM) detectors, a technology based on gaseous ionization, as one of the muon detectors. The muon spectrometer is being upgraded to handle the increased muon flux in the forward region. This study analyzes muon detection efficiency in the GE1/1 triple-GEM detector, using 2023 proton-proton collision data at $\sqrt{s}=13.6$ TeV. A dataset enriched with muons from Z boson decay, with a total recorded luminosity of 17.8 fb$^{-1}$ has been used for this study. The detection efficiency of 137 GEM detectors are measured using muon trajectories established using other detectors in the tracking and muon systems, without use of the GEM detectors. The average efficiency of 137 GEM detectors is $\sim$93.3$\%$. A subset of 108 detectors that had no shorts were operated at the nominal HV working point with average efficiency of $\sim$96$\%$. Efficiency is found to be unaffected by the number of p-p interactions per bunch crossing (pile-up).

Energy Calibration and Performance of HPGe Detectors in the LEGEND-200 Experiment

This paper describes the energy scale procedures and germanium detectors performance in the LEGEND-200 experiment, a critical component for the first unblinding in the search for neutrinoless double beta decay. We detail the digital signal processing pipeline, the methodologies for peak-shape modeling and energy calibration procedures utilizing weekly $^{228}$Th source calibration runs. The optimized energy reconstruction achieves a combined average resolution of $(2.47 \pm 0.08)$~keV at $Q_{\beta\beta} = 2039$~keV. The weekly variation of calibration peak positions are below 0.05~keV for energies up to 2614.5~keV, showing a high stability of the energy scale over time and across detectors. Furthermore, systematic corrections effectively address residual non-linearities and energy bias in the region of interest.

Cherenkov and scintillation light separation in BGO and BSO crystals coupled to SiPMs for dual-readout electromagnetic calorimetry at future colliders

We report on the separation of Cherenkov and scintillation light in BGO and BSO crystals read out with silicon photomultipliers (SiPMs). The two light components are disentangled on an event-by-event basis by combining optical filtering with waveform template fitting, exploiting their distinct spectral and temporal characteristics. Measurements were carried out using high-energy muon and positron beams at the CERN SPS North Area, demonstrating Cherenkov yields of up to $\sim$150 ph.e./GeV in electromagnetic showers. This work provides the first demonstration of Cherenkov-scintillation separation in BGO and BSO crystals with SiPM readout, supporting the use of this technology as a building block for a dual-readout electromagnetic calorimeter, as foreseen in the IDEA detector concept for a future $e^+e^-$ Higgs factory.
