LHAASO-WCDA observed a $\sim$ 5 days TeV-delayed flaring event in blazar 1ES 1959+650

We report a day-scale hard lag between GeV and TeV $\gamma$-ray emission from the HBL 1ES~1959+650 in early 2024. Since the LHAASO-WCDA real-time monitoring system began operation in late 2023, multiple TeV flares from this source have been triggered, including the 1st trigger flare on 2024 February 9. A Bayesian-block analysis of the WCDA light curve identifies three TeV flares in 2024. For the second triggered flare, a discrete cross-correlation analysis reveals a $>3\,\sigma$ correlation (relative to uncorrelated red-noise simulations) at a time delay of $\Delta t = 5.0_{-2.1}^{+2.1}$ days, with the TeV emission lagging the GeV. Time-resolved spectroscopy shows that this flare has the softest TeV spectrum among these flares (intrinsic spectral index $\Gamma=3.16\pm0.18$), while the 1st trigger flare is harder ($\Gamma=2.48\pm0.21$). The observed five-day hard lag is difficult to reconcile with a purely cooling-driven temporal ordering and is consistent with scenarios in which particle energization and/or transport may contribute to the evolution. However, the current data do not uniquely identify the underlying mechanism.

Measurement of Branching Fraction and Transition Magnetic Moment of the Hyperon Dalitz Decay $\Sigma^0 \rightarrow \Lambda e^+e^-$

Based on a data sample of 10 billion $J/\psi$ events collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII collider, the Dalitz decay $\Sigma^0 \rightarrow \Lambda e^+e^-$ is studied experimentally for the first time. The $\Sigma^0$ hyperons are produced through the process $J/\psi \rightarrow \Sigma^0\bar{\Sigma}^0$ and analyzed using a double-tag method. The absolute branching fraction is measured to be $\mathcal{B}(\Sigma^0 \rightarrow \Lambda e^+e^-) = (6.34 \pm 0.25_{\rm stat.} \pm 0.23_{\rm syst.}) \times 10^{-3}$. This result shows a $2\sigma$ discrepancy from the theoretical calculation quoted in the PDG, where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. In addition to the branching fraction, the transition magnetic moment $\mu$ is determined to be $(1.74 \pm 0.03_{\rm stat.} \pm 0.09_{\rm syst.})\,\mu_N$, where $\mu_N=e/(2m_p)$ represents the nucleon magnetic moment, providing valuable insight into the intrinsic structure of the $\Sigma^0$ hyperon.

Anisotropic Particle Transport from a Pulsar Wind Nebula Revealed by Einstein Probe and LHAASO

Pulsar wind nebulae (PWNe) are major cosmic ray accelerators, yet the mechanisms transporting high-energy particles into the interstellar medium remain elusive. Building on the LHAASO discovery of an ultra-high-energy (UHE) $\gamma$-ray source near the bow-shock PWN powered by the pulsar PSR J1740+1000, we present a joint Einstein Probe (EP) and LHAASO study of this system. EP observations reveal an extended X-ray tail far exceeding the structure previously seen by XMM-Newton. Updated LHAASO observations show that the $\gamma$-ray emission is elongated, with its major axis aligned with the extended X-ray tail revealed by EP. This is the first detection of an X-ray pulsar tail associated with a spatially coincident extended UHE $\gamma$-ray emission. The X-ray and $\gamma$-ray spectrum can be well explained with a single population of relativistic electrons via synchrotron and inverse Compton radiation, respectively, removing the need for particle re-acceleration during propagation. The results unambiguously show that electrons/positrons above 100 TeV are escaping from the PWN. Instead of the immediate, isotropic diffusion into ambient interstellar medium that is typically assumed, these particles are transported anisotropically over at least $\sim$10 pc, either guided by the background magnetic field or carried by an advective outflow.

The Extended Ultrahigh-energy Gamma-Ray Emission in the Vicinity of PSR J2238+5903

We present a comprehensive analysis of the recently discovered TeV gamma-ray source, LHAASO J2238+5900. Based on data collected from the LHAASO, our fitting results suggest that the source is significantly extended with an angular extension of 0.54{\deg} \pm 0.01{\deg} and is spatially coincident with the pulsar PSR J2238+5903. Its spectrum is characterized by a power-law with a cutoff at 41.0\pm 3.5 TeV. Additionally, the source exhibits a significant signal of 7.9\sigma above 100 TeV, implying that it is a PeVatron candidate. While the gamma-ray emission is consistent with a pulsar wind nebula (PWN) scenario, the relatively large extension size also allows for a halo interpretation, potentially caused by electron-positron pairs escaping from the PWN.

First double-differential measurement of pionless charged-current muon neutrino interactions using kinematic imbalance observables on carbon and oxygen with the T2K experiment

We report the first measurement of muon-neutrino charged-current cross section as a function of kinematic imbalance (KI) observables on oxygen with no pions and at least one proton in the final state, using the T2K ND280 detector. The cross section is extracted simultaneously for carbon and oxygen targets and double-differentially as a function of several KI observables, providing new insight into the modeling of nuclear effects. This joint measurement offers direct sensitivity to the correlations between two targets, a key ingredient for reducing systematic uncertainties in neutrino oscillation experiments that employ multiple target nuclei, such as T2K and Hyper-Kamiokande. Comparisons with predictions from widely used neutrino event generators show that none of the models fully describe the data across all regions of measured phase space. These results highlight possible directions where improvements in neutrino-nucleus interaction modeling are needed for current and future neutrino oscillation experiments.

Signal selection and model-independent extraction of pionless charged-current muon neutrino cross section using double-differential kinematic imbalance observables on carbon and oxygen with the T2K experiment

We present the first joint measurement of muon neutrino CC$0\pi Np$ interactions on carbon and oxygen targets, in two double-differential kinematic imbalance (KI) observable spaces, $\delta p_{T}$-$\delta \alpha_{T}$ and $p_{N}$-$\cos\theta_{\mu}$. The measurement employs the ND280 detector of the T2K experiment and includes a detailed description of the event selection used to define signal and control regions, the evaluation of systematic uncertainties, and the signal extraction procedure, together with validation studies supporting a robust cross-section measurement. The results of this analysis indicate that current neutrino-nucleus interaction models do not adequately describe the data, and demonstrate the strong discriminating power of KI observables. This measurement highlights the need for improved theoretical nuclear modeling within neutrino interaction generators to achieve increased precision in neutrino oscillation measurements.

Search for an isoscalar partner of the $Z_c(3900)$ in $e^+e^-\to\pi^+\pi^-\eta J/\psi$

Using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 20.3 fb$^{-1}$ collected at center-of-mass energies from 4.18 to 4.95 GeV with the BESIII detector, we observe the process $e^+e^-\to\pi^+\pi^-\eta J/\psi$ with a statistical significance of $6.0 \sigma$, including systematic uncertainties. The isoscalar partner of the $Z_c(3900)$, denoted $X(3900)$, is searched for in the $\eta J/\psi$ final state, and no significant signal is observed. The upper limits on the product of the Born cross section $\sigma^{\rm Born}[e^{+}e^{-}\to\pi^{+}\pi^{-} X(3900)$] and the branching fraction $\mathcal{B}[X(3900)\to\eta J/\psi]$ are given with various assumptions for the mass and width of the $X(3900)$.

Extreme PeV accelerator associated with GRS 1915+105

Microquasars, binary systems featuring relativistic jets, have emerged as sources for particle acceleration beyond PeV energies. We present a study of the broadband $\gamma$-ray emission from one of the most prominent Galactic microquasars GRS 1915+105 based on data accumulated by LHAASO and Fermi-LAT over 4 and 17 years, respectively. A joint analysis of LHAASO-WCDA and LHAASO-KM2A data reveals extended $\gamma$-ray emission whose centroid appears significantly shifted, by ~ 0.13{\deg}, from the binary system and its jets. The spectral energy distribution is well described by a curved spectrum with progressive steepening that can be described by a log-parabola function with no evidence for a sharp cutoff, consistent with parent particles reaching multi-PeV energies and an extreme acceleration efficiency approaching the limit set by the available potential drop across the source. Several features, most notably the shift of the emission and single-power-law spectrum down to GeV band, favor radiation by cosmic rays accelerated in the source interacting with the dense ambient medium. Our spectral modeling implies that at least a few percent of the jet mechanical power is transferred to protons, whose maximum energy reaches beyond 5 PeV. These results strengthen the case for microquasars as exceptionally efficient accelerators in our Galaxy.

Observation of an Altered $a_{0}(980)$ Line shape in $D^{+} \rightarrow \pi^{+}\eta\eta$

Using $20.3~{\rm fb}^{-1}$ of $e^+e^-$ collision data collected with the BESIII detector at $\sqrt{s}=3.773~{\rm GeV}$, we perform the first amplitude analysis of the decay $D^+\to\pi^+\eta\eta$. The intermediate process $D^+\to a_0(980)^+\eta$, $a_0(980)^+\to\pi^+\eta$, is observed as the only significant component in the amplitude analysis, and its branching fraction is measured to be $(3.67\pm0.12_{\rm stat}\pm0.06_{\rm syst})\times10^{-3}$. The $\pi^+\eta$ mass spectrum associated with $a_0(980)^+\eta$ production exhibits a line shape that differs substantially from those observed in $D_{(s)}\to a_0(980)\pi$ and $D^0\to a_0(980)^-e^+\nu_e$ decays. We examine several conventional descriptions of the $a_0(980)$ amplitude, including Flatt\'e, dispersively modified Flatt\'e, $T$-matrix, and $K$-matrix parameterizations. With reference $a_0(980)$ parameters, neither these models nor their extensions including additional small resonant or non-resonant amplitudes reproduce the observed line shape satisfactorily. When the $a_0(980)$ parameters are allowed to float, satisfactory fits can be obtained, but the pole mass is driven well above the $K\bar K$ threshold, inconsistent with the near-threshold character of the $a_0(980)$. The results reveal a tension between fit quality and the physical pole position in conventional direct-production amplitude models.

Constraining Neutrino Interaction Uncertainties for Neutrino Oscillation Measurements at the T2K Experiment

In the context of neutrino oscillation measurements from the T2K experiment, the off-axis near detector ND280 plays a crucial role in constraining the incoming neutrino flux and neutrino-nucleus interaction cross sections. The result is a robust control over systematic uncertainties in the fit of neutrino oscillation parameters to the data at the T2K far detector, Super-Kamiokande. This paper details the methodology and results of these constraints in the context of the latest neutrino oscillation analysis from T2K. It describes how a new neutrino cross-section model and refined flux prediction are parameterized and fit to data in new ND280 event selections. Additionally, this work reports the results of extensive robustness studies, including fits with alternative interaction models, consistency checks against publicly available cross-section measurements, and \textit{p}-value evaluations, to demonstrate the reliability and robustness of our methodology. Finally, we present a sensitivity study demonstrating that the upgraded ND280, with improved acceptance and a lower hadron threshold, may enhance future constraints and further reduce systematic uncertainties in oscillation measurements.

Measurement of the branching fraction of $D_{s}^{*+}\to e^{+}e^{-}D_{s}^{+}$

The branching fraction of the electromagnetic Dalitz decay $D^{*+}_{s}\to e^{+}e^{-}D^{+}_{s}$ is measured with an $e^{+}e^{-}$ collision data sample collected by the BESIII experiment at center-of-mass energies between 4.128 and 4.226 $\mathrm{GeV}$, corresponding to a total integrated luminosity of 7.33 $\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$. The measurement yields the branching fraction ${\mathcal{B}(D^{*+}_{s}\to e^{+}e^{-}D^{+}_{s})=(7.28\pm0.61_{\mathrm{stat}}\pm0.31_{\mathrm{syst}})\times10^{-3}}$. The result is consistent with the previous one, with a 2.5-fold improvement in precision. This provides an important input for constraining the parameters of theoretical models and for determining the absolute branching fractions of $D^{*+}_{s}\to \pi^{0}D^{+}_{s}$ and $D^{*+}_{s}\to \gamma D^{+}_{s}$, measured with a relative method.

Measurement of branching fractions of $D^+_s\to K^0_SK^0_S \pi^+\pi^0$ and $D^+_s\to K^0_S K^+\pi^0\pi^0$

By analyzing $e^+e^-$ collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 7.33~fb$^{-1}$ collected with the BESIII detector at center-of-mass energies ranging from 4.128 to 4.226~GeV, we report the observations of the hadronic decays $D^+_s\to K^0_SK^0_S\pi^+\pi^0$ and $D^+_s\to K^0_S K^+\pi^0\pi^0$. Their decay branching fractions are determined to be ${\mathcal B}(D^+_s\to K^0_SK^0_S \pi^+\pi^0)=(4.08\pm0.46_{\rm stat}\pm0.45_{\rm syst})\times 10^{-3}$ and ${\mathcal B}(D^+_s\to K^0_S K^+\pi^0\pi^0)=(3.32\pm0.64_{\rm stat}\pm0.31_{\rm syst})\times 10^{-3}$, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic.

Measurement of the double Dalitz decay $\eta \to e^+e^-e^+e^-$

Using a data sample of $(1.0087 \pm 0.0044) \times {10^{10}}$ $J/{\psi}$ events collected with the BESIII detector, we study the rare double Dalitz decay of $\eta\rightarrow e^+e^-e^+e^-$ through the processes $J/\psi\rightarrow \gamma \eta$ and $J/\psi\rightarrow \gamma \eta' ,\eta' \to \pi^+\pi^-\eta$. Clear $\eta$ signals are observed in the $e^+e^-e^+e^-$ invariant mass spectrum, with statistical significances of 5.9$\sigma$ and 7.8$\sigma$ for the two channels, respectively. By combining both modes, we determine the branching fraction of $\eta\rightarrow e^+ e^- e^+ e^-$ to be $(2.63~\pm~0.34_{\rm stat}~\pm~0.16_{\rm syst}) \times10^{-5}$. The result is consistent with the previous measurements within uncertainties and further constrains physics beyond the standard model.

Ultra-high-energy $\gamma$-ray imprints from PeV particles accelerated by supernova remnants

The quest for the origin of cosmic ray (CRs) is a fundamental issue in astrophysics. Shocks of supernova remnants (SNRs) have been considered as the dominant contributors to Galactic CRs below the spectral knee near $\sim 3$ petaelectronvolt (PeV). Whether SNRs are efficient accelerators of particles beyond PeV energies has long been debated. Here we report observations of very-high-energy $\gamma$-ray emission up to hundreds of TeV from two middle age shell-type SNRs, G150.3$+$4.5 and $\gamma$-Cygni, with the Large High Altitude Air Shower Observatory (LHAASO). Two (or three) distinct morphological/spectral components with convex spectral shapes are observed in both sources, with the low-energy one being more extended than the high-energy one. %Although it is possible that these high-energy components may be driven by powerful pulsars, The likely association of the high-energy component with molecular clouds at similar distances, and the weakness/absence of pulsar wind nebulae (PWNe) inside these SNRs clearly indicate for the first time that the highest energy emission is produced by collision of hadronic CRs up to PeV energies with the clouds. These results are compatible with the classic model prediction that PeV particles accelerated near the end of the free expansion phase of SNR evolution can illuminate nearby molecular clouds (MCs) to produce strong $\gamma$-ray emission.

First energy scan measurement of $e^{+}e^{-}\to K^{+}K^{-}$ around the $\psi(2S)$ resonance

We report the precise energy scan measurement of the cross section lineshape of $\psi(2S)\to K^{+}K^{-}$. The analysis is based on $e^{+}e^{-}$ collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 495~pb$^{-1}$ collected with the BESIII detector at BEPCII. By analyzing the cross section line-shape, we extract the relative phase $\Phi$ between the strong and electromagnetic amplitudes of the $\psi(2S)$ resonance, a fundamental parameter in charmonium physics, based on the assumption that the relative phase between the electromagnetic amplitude of the $\psi(2S)$ resonance and the continuum is zero. Two distinct solutions for the branching fraction $\mathcal{B}$ of $\psi(2S)\to K^{+}K^{-}$ are observed: a constructive interference solution with $\mathcal{B}=(7.49\pm0.41)\times10^{-5}$ and $\Phi=(110.1 \pm6.7)^\circ$, and a destructive interference solution with $\mathcal{B}=(10.94\pm0.48)\times10^{-5}$ and $\Phi=(-106.8\pm5.7)^\circ$. A significant correlation between $\Phi$ and $\mathcal{B}$ is established, demonstrating that interference effects must be taken into account in the $\psi(2S)$ branching fraction measurements. Additionally, the first results for both the $\psi(2S)$ strong form factor, which characterizes the strong coupling between $\psi(2S)$ and $K^{+}K^{-}$, and the energy-dependent electromagnetic form factor of the charged kaon in this energy region are reported.

Search for the radiative decays $D^0\to \gamma \bar K_1(1270)^0$ and $D^+\to \gamma K_1(1270)^+$

A search for the radiative decays $D^0\to \gamma \bar K_1(1270)^0$ and $D^+\to \gamma K_1(1270)^+$ is conducted using $20.3~\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$ of $e^+e^-$ annihilation data collected at the center-of-mass energy $\sqrt{s}=3.773$ GeV by the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII collider. No significant signals are observed, and upper limits on the branching fractions of $D^0\to \gamma \bar K_1(1270)^0$ and $D^+\to \gamma K_1(1270)^+$ at 90\% confidence level are determined to be $7.7\times10^{-4}$ and $3.9\times10^{-5}$, respectively. This represents the first test of the Vector Meson Dominance mechanism in the radiative decays of charmed mesons to axial-vector mesons.

Amplitude Analysis of Singly Cabibbo-Suppressed Decay $\Lambda^{+}_{c}\to p K^{+} K^{-}$

Using a sample of $e^{+}e^{-}$ annihilation data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 4.4 $\rm{fb}^{-1}$ collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider and produced at center-of-mass energies from $4600$ to $4698~\rm{MeV}$, an amplitude analysis is performed of the singly Cabibbo-suppressed decay $\Lambda^{+}_{c}\to pK^{+}K^{-}$. The branching fractions of $\Lambda^{+}_{c}\to p\phi(1020)$, $pf_{0}(980)$, $\Lambda(1405)K^{+}$, and $\Lambda(1670)K^{+}$ are measured, where the latter two modes are decays that are observed for the first time. At the same time, with the detection efficiency based on the results of the amplitude analysis, the branching fraction of $\Lambda^{+}_{c}\to pK^{+}K^{-}$ is updated to be $(9.94\pm0.65_{\text{stat.}}\pm0.50_{\text{syst.}})\times10^{-4}$, which is consistent with the current world average value within one standard deviation. The result supersedes the previous BESIII measurement with precision improved by approximately a factor of 1.5.

Multi-channel joint analysis of the exotic charmonium-like state $T_{c\bar{c}}(4020)$

This paper reports the first multi-channel joint analysis to identify the properties of the exotic charmonium-like state $T_{c\bar{c}}(4020)$ via the electron-positron annihilation process $e^{+}e^{-}\to\pi^{+}T_{c\bar{c}}(4020)^{-}+c.c$. A partial wave analysis is performed simultaneously in three decay channels $T_{c\bar{c}}(4020)^{-}\to {D}^{*0}D^{*-}$, $\pi^{-}J/\psi$, and $\pi^{-}h_{c}$, based on data samples taken at $\sqrt{s}=4.395$ and $4.416\,\mathrm{GeV}$ with an integrated luminosity of $1598.9\,\mathrm{pb}^{-1}$ collected with the BESIII detector operating on the BEPCII collider. For the first time, the spin-parity of the $T_{c\bar{c}}(4020)^{-}$ is determined to be $J^{P}=1^{+}$ with a significance $11.7\sigma$. Pole positions are extracted on the Riemann sheets with three branch points in the complex energy plane. Furthermore, the relative branching fractions are obtained as $\mathcal{B}[T_{c\bar{c}}(4020)^{-}\to\pi^{-}J/\psi]/\mathcal{B}[T_{c\bar{c}}(4020)^{-}\to{D}^{*0}D^{*-}]=(3.6\pm0.6\pm1.6)\times10^{-3}$ and $\mathcal{B}[T_{c\bar{c}}(4020)^{-}\to\pi^{-}h_{c}]/\mathcal{B}[T_{c\bar{c}}(4020)^{-}\to{D}^{*0}D^{*-}]=(8.9\pm1.3\pm2.3)\times10^{-2}$, where the first uncertainties are statistical, and the second are systematic.
