Spectral analysis of polynomial potentials and its relation with ABJ/M-type theories

We obtain a general class of polynomials for which the Schrodinger operator has a discrete spectrum. This class includes all the scalar potentials in membrane, 5-brane, p-branes, multiple M2 branes, BLG and ABJM theories. We provide a proof of the discreteness of the spectrum of the associated Schrodinger operators. This a a first step in order to analyze BLG and ABJM supersymmetric theories from a non-perturbative point of view.

The discrete spectrum of the D=11 bosonic M5-brane

We prove that the spectrum of the regularized M5-brane in D=11 target space is discrete with eigenvalues extending to infinity. The proof includes the same result for the spectra of regularized bosonic p-branes in general.

Intrinsic Moment of Inertia of Membranes as bounds for the mass gap of Yang-Mills Theories

We obtain the precise condition on the potentials of Yang-Mills theories in 0+1 dimensions and D0 brane quantum mechanics ensuring the discretness of the spectrum. It is given in terms of a moment of inertia of the membrane. From it we obtain a bound for the mass gap of any D+1 Yang-Mills theory in the slow-mode regime. In particular we analyze the physical case D=3. The quantum mechanical behavior of the theories, concerning its spectrum, is determined by harmonic oscillators with frequencies given by the inertial tensor of the membrane. We find a class of quantum mechanic potential polynomials of any degree, with classical instabilities that at quantum level have purely discrete spectrum.

Searching for R-Parity Violation at Run-II of the Tevatron

We present an outlook for possible discovery of supersymmetry with broken R-parity at Run II of the Tevatron. We first present a review of the literature and an update of the experimental bounds. In turn we then discuss the following processes: 1. Resonant slepton production followed by R-parity violating decay, (a) via $LQD^c$ and (b) via $LLE^c$. 2. How to distinguish resonant slepton production from $Z'$ or $W'$ production. 3. Resonant slepton production followed by the decay to neutralino LSP, which decays via $LQD^c$. 4. Resonant stop production followed by the decay to a chargino, which cascades to the neutralino LSP. 5. Gluino pair production followed by the cascade decay to charm squarks which decay directly via $L_1Q_2D^c_1$. 6. Squark pair production followed by the cascade decay to the neutralino LSP which decays via $L_1Q_2D^c_1$. 7. MSSM pair production followed by the cascade decay to the LSP which decays (a) via $LLE^c$, (b) via $LQD^c$, and (c) via $U^cD^cD^c$, respectively. 8. Top quark and top squark decays in spontaneous R-parity violation.

Top-Quark Phenomenology in Models with Bilinearly and Spontaneously Broken R-parity

We study unconventional decays of the top-quark in the framework of SUSY models with spontaneously broken R-parity. In particular we discuss an effective theory which consists of the MSSM plus bilinearly broken R-parity. We demonstrate that the decay modes t -> stau + b and t -> tau + sbottom can have large branching ratios even in scenarios where the tau-neutrino mass is very small. We show that existing Tevatron data already probe the theoretical parameters, with promising prospects for further improvement at the Run 2 of the Tevatron.

R-parity violating decays of the Top-Quark and the Top-Squark at the Tevatron

We study unconventional decays of the top-quark and the top-squark in the framework of SUSY models with broken R-parity. The model under study is the MSSM with an additional bilinear term that breaks R-parity. In this model the top-squark behaves similar to a third generation leptoquark. We demonstrate that existing Tevatron data on the top give rise to restrictions on the SUSY parameter space. In particular, we focus on scenarios where the tau-neutrino mass is smaller than 1 eV. We give an exclusion plot derived from the leptoquark searches at Tevatron.
