Vacuum Energy Accretion and Primordial Black Holes in Brans-Dicke theory

In this paper, we investigate the evolution of primordial black hole (PBH) in vacuum-dominated era within Brans-Dicke cosmology. We consider the accretion of vacuum energy by PBHs and found that vacuum energy accretion efficiency should be less than 0.61. We also study the evaporation of PBHs where we conclude that larger the value of accretion efficiency longer live the PBHs. We also find that PBHs evaporate at a quicker rate in Brans-Dicke theory compared with Standard Cosmology.

Phantom energy accretion and primordial black holes evolution in Brans-Dicke theory

In this work, we study the evolution of primordial black holes within the context of Brans-Dicke theory by considering the presence of a dark energy component with a super-negative equation of state called phantom energy as a background. Besides Hawking evaporation, here we consider two type of accretions - radiation accretion and phantom energy accretion. We found that radiation accretion increases the lifetime of primordial black holes whereas phantom accretion decreases the lifespan of primordial black holes. Investigating the competition between the radiation accretion and phantom accretion, we got that there is an instant during the matter-dominated era beyond which phantom accretion dominates radiation accretion. So the primordial black holes which are formed in the later part of radiation dominated era and in matter dominated era are evaporated at a quicker rate than the Hawking evaporation. But for presently evaporating primordial black holes, radiation accretion and Hawking evaporation terms are dominant over phantom accretion term and hence presently evaporating primordial black holes are not much affected by phantom accretion.

Gravitating magnetic monopole in Vaidya geometry

A magnetic-monopole solution of a non-Abelian gauge theory as proposed by 't Hooft and Polyakov is studied in the Vaidya spacetime. We find that the solutions of Einstein equations generates a geometry of the Bonnor-Vaidya corresponding to magnetically charged null fluid with Higgs field contributing a cosmological term. In the absence of the scalar fields the corresponding Wu-Yang solution of the gauge theory still generates the Bonnor-Vaidya geometry, but with no cosmological term.

Astrophysical constraints on primordial black holes in Brans-Dicke theory

We consider cosmological evolution in Brans-Dicke theory with a population of primordial black holes. Hawking radiation from the primordial black holes impacts various astrophysical processes during the evolution of the Universe. The accretion of radiation by the black holes in the radiation dominated era may be effective in imparting them a longer lifetime. We present a detailed study of how this affects various standard astrophysical constraints coming from the evaporation of primordial black holes. We analyze constraints from the present density of the Universe, the present photon spectrum, the distortion of the cosmic microwave background spectrum and also from processes affecting light element abundances after nucleosynthesis. We find that the constraints on the initial primordial black hole mass fractions are tightened with increased accretion efficiency.

Effect of accretion on primordial black holes in Brans-Dicke theory

We consider the effect of accretion of radiation in the early universe on primordial black holes in Brans-Dicke theory. The rate of growth of a primordial black hole due to accretion of radiation in Brans-Dicke theory is considerably smaller than the rate of growth of the cosmological horizon, thus making available sufficient radiation density for the black hole to accrete causally. We show that accretion of radiation by Brans-Dicke black holes overrides the effect of Hawking evaporation during the radiation dominated era. The subsequent evaporation of the black holes in later eras is further modified due to the variable gravitational ``constant'', and they could survive up to longer times compared to the case of standard cosmology. We estimate the impact of accretion on modification of the constraint on their initial mass fraction obtained from the $γ$-ray background limit from presently evaporating primordial black holes.

Evolution of primordial black holes in Jordan-Brans-Dicke cosmology

We consider the evolution of primordial black holes in a generalyzed Jordan-Brans-Dicke cosmological model where both the Brans-Dicke scalar field and its coupling to gravity are dynamical functions determined from the evolution equations. The evaporation rate for the black holes changes compared to that in standard cosmology. We show that accretion of radiation can proceed effectively in the radiation dominated era. The black hole lifetime shortens for low initial mass, but increases for high initial mass, and is thus considerably modified compared to the case of standard cosmology. We derive a cut-off value for the initial black hole mass, below which primordial black holes evaporate out in the radiation dominated era, and above which they survive beyond the present era.

Spacetime Dependent Lagrangians and Electrogravity Duality

We apply the spacetime dependent lagrangian formalism [1] to the action in general relativity. We obtain a Barriola-Vilenkin type monopole solution by exploiting theelectrogravity duality of the vacuum Einstein equations and using a modified definition of empty space. An {\it upper bound} is obtained on the monopole mass ${\tt M}$, ${\tt M}\leq e^{(1-α)/α}/(1-α)^{2}{\tt G}$ where $α= 2k $ is the global monopole charge. Keywords: global monopole, electrogravity duality, holographic principle. PACS: 11.15.-q, 11.27.+d, 14.80.Hv, 04.

Gravitational Waves in Generalised Brans-Dicke Theory

We have solved cosmological gravitational Wave(GW)equation in the frame work of Generalised Brans-Dicke(GBD) theory for all epochs of the Universe. The solutions are expressed in terms of the present value of the Brans-Dicke coupling parameter $ω(ϕ)$.It is seen that the solutions represent travelling growing modes for negative values of $ω_{0}$ for all epochs of the Universe.

Finite Temperature Study of Nuclear Matter in SU(2) Chiral Sigma Model

We study here the equation of state of symmetric nuclear matter at finite temperatures using a modified SU(2) Chiral Sigma model. The effect of temperature on effective mass, pressure, entropy and binding energy is discussed. The liquid-gas phase transition is investigated and the critical values of temperature, density and pressure are calculated.

SU(2) Chiral Sigma Model Study of Phase Transition in Hybrid Stars

We use a modified SU(2) chiral sigma model to study nuclear matter component and simple bag model for quark matter constituting a neutron star. We also study the phase transition of nuclear matter to quark matter with the mixed phase characterized by two conserved charges in the interior of highly dense neutron stars. Stable solutions of Tolman-Oppenheimer-Volkoff equations representing hybrid stars are obtained with a maximum mass of 1.67$M_{\odot}$ and radius around 8.9 km.

Does CPT violation affect the B_d meson life times and decay asymmetries?

We study indirect CPT violating effects in B_d meson decays and mixing, taking into account the recent constraints on the CPT violating parameters from the Belle collaboration. The life time difference of the B_d meson mass eigenstates, expected to be negligible in the standard model and many of its CPT conserving extensions, could be sizeable (\sim a few percent of the total width) due to breakdown of this fundamental symmetry. The time evolution of the direct CP violating asymmetries in one amplitude dominated processes (inclusive semileptonic B_d decays, in particular) turn out to be particularly sensitive to this effect.

Massive compact dwarf stars and C-field

The effect of C-field in high density matter has been studied. We find that the negative energy and negative pressure of the C-field helps in formation of massive compact stable neutron stars of mass $\sim$ 0.5 solar mass which is in the range of 0.01 to 1.0 solar mass of recently observed dwarf stars.
