A performance study of anomaly detection using entropy method

An experiment to study the entropy method for an anomaly detection system has been performed. The study has been conducted using real data generated from the distributed sensor networks at the Intel Berkeley Research Laboratory. The experimental results were compared with the elliptical method and has been analyzed in two dimensional data sets acquired from temperature and humidity sensors across 52 micro controllers. Using the binary classification to determine the upper and lower boundaries for each series of sensors, it has been shown that the entropy method are able to detect more number of out ranging sensor nodes than the elliptical methods. It can be argued that the better result was mainly due to the lack of elliptical approach which is requiring certain correlation between two sensor series, while in the entropy approach each sensor series is treated independently. This is very important in the current case where both sensor series are not correlated each other.

Equation of State within Gluon Dominated QGP Model in Relativistic Hydrodynamics Approach

The dynamics of Quark-gluon plasma (QGP) as a lump of deconfined free quarks and gluons is elaborated. Based on the first principal we construct the Lagrangian that represents the dynamics of QGP. To induce a hydrodynamics approach, we substitute the gluon fields with flow fields. As a result, the derived equation of Motion (E.O.M) for gluon dominated QGP shows the form that similar to Euler equation, and the energy momentum tensor also represents explicitly the system of ideal fluid. Combining the E.O.M and energy momentum tensor, the pressure and energy density distribution as the equation of states are analytically derived.

Viscosities of Gluon Dominated QGP Model within Relativistic Non-Abelian Hydrodynamics

Based on the first principle calculation, a Lagrangian for the system describing quarks, gluons, and their interactions, is constructed. Ascribed to the existence of dissipative behavior as a consequence of strong interaction within quark-gluon plasma (QGP) matter, auxiliary terms describing viscosities are constituted into the Lagrangian. Through a "kind" of phase transition, gluon field is redefined as a scalar field with four-vector velocity inherently attached. Then, the Lagrangian is elaborated further to produce the energy-momentum tensor of dissipative fluid-like system and the equation of motion (EOM). By imposing the law of energy and momentum conservation, the values of shear and bulk viscosities are analytically calculated. Our result shows that, at the energy level close to hadronization, the bulk viscosity is bigger than shear viscosity. By making use of the conjectured values $η/ s \sim 1 / 4π$ and $ζ/ s \sim 1$, the ratio of bulk to shear viscosity is found to be $ζ/ η> 4 π$.

Viscous Quark-Gluon Plasma Model Through Fluid QCD Approach

A Lagrangian density for viscous quark-gluon plasma has been constructed within the fluid-like QCD framework. Gauge symmetry is preserved for all terms inside the Lagrangian, except for the viscous term. The transition mechanism from point particle field to fluid field, and vice versa, is discussed. The energy momentum tensor that is relevant for the gluonic plasma having the nature of fluid bulk of gluon sea is derived within the model. By imposing conservation law in the energy momentum tensor, shear viscosity appears as extractable from the equation.

Identification of Orchid Species Using Content-Based Flower Image Retrieval

In this paper, we developed the system for recognizing the orchid species by using the images of flower. We used MSRM (Maximal Similarity based on Region Merging) method for segmenting the flower object from the background and extracting the shape feature such as the distance from the edge to the centroid point of the flower, aspect ratio, roundness, moment invariant, fractal dimension and also extract color feature. We used HSV color feature with ignoring the V value. To retrieve the image, we used Support Vector Machine (SVM) method. Orchid is a unique flower. It has a part of flower called lip (labellum) that distinguishes it from other flowers even from other types of orchids. Thus, in this paper, we proposed to do feature extraction not only on flower region but also on lip (labellum) region. The result shows that our proposed method can increase the accuracy value of content based flower image retrieval for orchid species up to $\pm$ 14%. The most dominant feature is Centroid Contour Distance, Moment Invariant and HSV Color. The system accuracy is 85,33% in validation phase and 79,33% in testing phase.

A simple statistical analysis approach for Intrusion Detection System

A novel approach to analyze statistically the network traffic raw data is proposed. The huge amount of raw data of actual network traffic from the Intrusion Detection System is analyzed to determine if a traffic is a normal or harmful one. Using the active ports in each host in a network as sensors, the system continuously monitors the incoming packets, and generates its average behaviors at different time scales including its variances. The average region of behaviors at certain time scale is then being used as the baseline of normal traffic. Deploying the exhaustive search based decission system, the system detects the incoming threats to the whole network under supervision.

Field theory approach in the dynamics of biomatter

A new approach to model the biomatter dynamics based on the field theory is presented. It is shown that some well known tools in field theory can be utilized to describe the physical phenomena in life matters, in particular at elementary biomatters like DNA and proteins. In this approach, the biomatter dynamics are represented as results of interactions among its elementary matters in the form of lagrangian. Starting from the lagrangian would provide stronger underlying theoretical consideration for further extension. Moreover, it also enables us to acquire rich physical observables using statistical mechanics instead of relying on the space-time dynamics from certain equation of motions which is not solvable due to its nonlinearities. Few examples from previous results are given and explained briefly.

Exhaustive Search-based Model for Hybrid Sensor Network

A new model for a cluster of hybrid sensors network with multi sub-clusters is proposed. The model is in particular relevant to the early warning system in a large scale monitoring system in, for example, a nuclear power plant. It mainly addresses to a safety critical system which requires real-time processes with high accuracy. The mathematical model is based on the extended conventional search algorithm with certain interactions among the nearest neighborhood of sensors. It is argued that the model could realize a highly accurate decision support system with less number of parameters. A case of one dimensional interaction function is discussed, and a simple algorithm for the model is also given.

The Correlation between Structural Capital and Innovation in Indonesian Manufacturing Industry

The statistical relationship between structural capital and innovation in Indonesian manufacturing industries is presented. The correlation is constructed using recent survey data on the contribution of structural capital to the innovation processes in the industries. The correlation is represented quantitatively using the recently developed Intellectual Capital and Innovation (ICI) index involving all components of intellectual capital and its role to enable innovation in a manufacturing industry. However, the paper is focused only on the contribution of structural capital component. Using the available data it is shown that the correlation is highly depending on the scale and characteristics of each manufacture. It is also argued that the ICI index is able to quantitatively prove the dominant components in innovation processes for each class of manufacturing industries.

Dynamics of DNA Bubble in Viscous Medium

The damping effect to the DNA bubble is investigated within the Peyrard-Bishop model. In the continuum limit, the dynamics of the bubble of DNA is described by the damped nonlinear Schrodinger equation and studied by means of variational method. It is shown that the propagation of solitary wave pattern is not vanishing in a non-viscous system. Inversely, the solitary wave vanishes soon as the viscous force is introduced.

The thermal denaturation of Peyrard-Bishop model with an external potential

The impact of various types of external potentials to the Peyrard-Bishop DNA denaturation is investigated through statistical mechanics approach. The partition function is obtained using transfer integral method, and further the stretching of hydrogen bond is calculated using time independent perturbation method. It is shown that all types of external potentials accelerate the denaturation processes at lower temperature. In particular, it is argued that the Gaussian potential with infinitesimal width reproduces a constant force at one end of DNA sequence as already done in some previous works.

Near-brane SU(6) origin Higgs in Scherk-Schwarz breaking of five-dimensional SU(6) GUT

The symmetry breaking of five-dimensional SU(6) GUT is realized by Scherk-Schwarz mechanisms through trivial and pseudo nontrivial orbifold S1/Z2 breakings to produce dimensional deconstruction 5D SU(6) \rightarrow4D SU(6). The latter also induces near-brane weakly-coupled SU(6) Baby Higgs to further break the symmetry into SU(3)C \otimes SU(3)H \otimes U(1)C. The model successfully provides a scenario of the origin of (Little) Higgs from GUT scale, produces the (intermediate and light) Higgs boson with the most preferred range and establishes coupling unification and compactification scale correctly.

Macroscopic simulation for the internal dynamics of nano processes in ball mills

Numerical simulation for comminution processes inside the vial of ball mills are performed using Monte Carlo method. The internal dynamics is represented by recently developed model based on hamiltonian involving the impact and surrounding electromagnetic potentials. The paper is focused on investigating the behaviors of normalized macroscopic pressure, $P/{P_0}$, in term of system temperature and the milled powder mass. The results provide theoretical justification that high efficiency is expected at low system temperature region. It is argued that keeping the system temperature as low as possible is crucial to prevent agglomeration which is a severe obstacle for further comminution processes.

Nonlinear conformation of secondary protein folding

A model to describe the mechanism of conformational dynamics in secondary protein based on matter interactions is proposed. The approach deploys the lagrangian method by imposing certain symmetry breaking. The protein backbone is initially assumed to be nonlinear and represented by the Sine-Gordon equation, while the nonlinear external bosonic sources is represented by $ϕ^4$ interaction. It is argued that the nonlinear source induces the folding pathway in a different way than the previous work with initially linear backbone. Also, the nonlinearity of protein backbone decreases the folding speed.

Modeling the interactions of biomatter and biofluid

The internal motions of biomatter immersed in biofluid are investigated. The interactions between the fragments of biomatter and its surrounding biofluid are modeled using field theory. In the model, the biomatter is coupled to the gauge field representing the biofluid. It is shown that at non-relativistic limit various equation of motions, from the well-known Sine-Gordon equation to the simultaneous nonlinear equations, can be reproduced within a single framework.

The statistical properties of protein folding in the ϕ^4 theory

The statistical properties of protein folding within the ϕ^4 model are investigated. The calculation is performed using statistical mechanics and path integral method. In particular, the evolution of heat capacity in term of temperature is given for various levels of the nonlinearity of source and the strength of interaction between protein backbone and nonlinear source. It is found that the nonlinear source contributes constructively to the specific heat especially at higher temperature when it is weakly interacting with the protein backbone. This indicates increasing energy absorption as the intensity of nonlinear sources are getting greater. The simulation of protein folding dynamics within the model is also refined.

Dynamics of DNA breathing in the Peyrard-Bishop model with damping and external force

The impact of damping effect and external forces to the DNA breathing is investigated within the Peyrard-Bishop model. In in the continuum limit, the dynamics of the breathing of DNA is described by the forced-damped nonlinear Schrodinger equation and studied by means of variational method. The analytical solutions are obtained for special cases. It is shown that the breather propagation is decelerated in the presence of damping factor without the external force, while the envelope velocity and the amplitude increase significantly with the presence of external force. It is particularly found that the higher harmonic terms are enhanced when the periodic force is applied. It is finally argued that the external force accelerates the DNA breathing.

Gluon matter plasma in the compact star core within fluid QCD model

The structure of compact star core filled by gluon matter plasma is investigated within the fluid-like QCD framework. The energy momentum tensor, density and pressure relevant for gluonic plasma having the nature of fluid bulk of gluon sea are derived within the model. It is shown that the model provides a new equation of state for perfect fluid with only a single parameter of fluid distribution ϕ(x). The results are applied to construct the equation of state describing the gluonic plasma dominated compact star core. The equations of pressure and density distribution are solved analytically for small compact star core radius. The phase transition of plasma near the core surface is also discussed.
