Bounded Weyl pseudodifferential operators in Fock space

We aim at constructing an analog of the Weyl calculus in an infinite dimensional setting, in which the usual configuration and phase spaces are ultimately replaced by infinite dimensional measure spaces, the so-called abstract Wiener spaces. The Hilbert space on which the operators act can be seen as a Fock space or, equivalently, as a space of square integrable functions on the configuration space. The construction is not straightforward and needs to split the configuration space into two factors, of which the first one is finite dimensional. Then one defines, for a convenient symbol $F$, a hybrid calculus, acting on the finite dimensional factor as a Weyl operator and on the other one as an anti-Wick operator, defined thanks to an infinite dimensional Segal-Bargmann transformation. One can establish bounds on the hybrid operators. These bounds enable us to prove the convergence of any sequence of hybrid operators associated with an increasing sequence of finite dimensional factors. Their common limit is the Weyl operator $OP_h^{weyl}(F)$, the analog of Calderón-Vaillancourt Theorem being a consequence of the upper mentionned bounds as well.

Hyperfine splitting in non-relativistic QED: uniqueness of the dressed hydrogen atom ground state

We consider a free hydrogen atom composed of a spin-1/2 nucleus and a spin-1/2 electron in the standard model of non-relativistic QED. We study the Pauli-Fierz Hamiltonian associated with this system at a fixed total momentum. For small enough values of the fine-structure constant, we prove that the ground state is unique. This result reflects the hyperfine structure of the hydrogen atom ground state.

On the Infrared Problem for the Dressed Non-Relativistic Electron in a Magnetic Field

We consider a non-relativistic electron interacting with a classical magnetic field pointing along the $x_3$-axis and with a quantized electromagnetic field. The system is translation invariant in the $x_3$-direction and we consider the reduced Hamiltonian $H(P_3)$ associated with the total momentum $P_3$ along the $x_3$-axis. For a fixed momentum $P_3$ sufficiently small, we prove that $H(P_3)$ has a ground state in the Fock representation if and only if $E'(P_3)=0$, where $P_3 \mapsto E'(P_3)$ is the derivative of the map $P_3 \mapsto E(P_3) = \inf σ(H(P_3))$. If $E'(P_3) \neq 0$, we obtain the existence of a ground state in a non-Fock representation. This result holds for sufficiently small values of the coupling constant.

Decay of Quantum Correlations in a Lattice by Heat Kernel Methods

We prove some estimations of the correlation of two local observables in quantum spin systems (with Schrödinger equations) at large temperature. For that, we describe the heat kernel of the Hamiltonian for a finite subset of the lattice, allowing the dimension to tend to infinity. This is an improved version of an earlier unpublished manuscript.

A mathematical model for the Fermi weak interactions

We consider a mathematical model of the Fermi theory of weak interactions as patterned according to the well-known current-current coupling of quantum electrodynamics. We focuss on the example of the decay of the muons into electrons, positrons and neutrinos but other examples are considered in the same way. We prove that the Hamiltonian describing this model has a ground state in the fermionic Fock space for a sufficiently small coupling constant. Furthermore we determine the absolutely continuous spectrum of the Hamiltonian and by commutator estimates we prove that the spectrum is absolutely continuous away from a small neighborhood of the thresholds of the free Hamiltonian. For all these results we do not use any infrared cutoff or infrared regularization even if fermions with zero mass are involved.

The dressed mobile atoms and ions

We consider free atoms and ions in $\R^3$ interacting with the quantized electromagnetic field. Because of the translation invariance we consider the reduced hamiltonian associated with the total momentum. After introducing an ultraviolet cutoff we prove that the reduced hamiltonian for atoms has a ground state if the coupling constant and the total momentum are sufficiently small. In the case of ions an extra infrared regularization is needed. We also consider the case of the hydrogen atom in a constant magnetic field. Finally we determine the absolutely continuous spectrum of the reduced hamiltonian.
