Fractional heat equations with subcritical absorption having a measure as initial data

We study existence and uniqueness of weak solutions to (F) $\partial\_t u+ (-Δ)^\alphau+h(t, u)=0 $ in $(0,\infty)\times\R^N$,with initial condition $u(0,\cdot)=ν$ in $\R^N$, where $N\ge2$, the operator $(-Δ)^α$is the fractional Laplacian with $α\in(0,1)$, $ν$ isa bounded Radon measure and $h:(0,\infty)\times\R\to\R$ is a continuous function satisfying a subcritical integrability condition.In particular, if $h(t,u)=t^βu^p$ with $β\textgreater{}-1$ and $0 \textless{} p \textless{} p^*\_β:=1+\frac{2α(1+β)}{N}$, we prove that there exists a unique weak solution $u\_k$ to (F) with $ν=kδ\_0$, where $δ\_0$ is the Dirac mass at the origin. We obtain that $u\_k\to\infty$ in $(0,\infty)\times\R^N$ as $k\to\infty$ for $p\in(0,1]$ and the limit of $u\_k$ exists as $k\to\infty$ when $1 \textless{} p \textless{} p^*\_β$, we denote it by $u\_\infty$.When $1+\frac{2α(1+β)}{N+2α}:=p^{**}\_β\textless{} p \textless{} p^*\_β$,$u\_\infty$ is the minimal self-similar solution of $(F)\_\infty$ $\partial\_t u+ (-Δ)^αu+t^βu^p=0 $ in $(0,\infty)\times\R^N$ with the initial condition $u(0,\cdot)=0$ in $\R^N\setminus\{0\}$ and it satisfies $u\_\infty(0,x)=0$ for $x\neq 0$.While if $1\textless{} p \textless{} p^{**}\_β$, then $u\_\infty\equiv U\_p$, where $U\_p$ is the maximal solution of the differential equation $y'+t^βy^p=0$ on $\R\_+$.

Boundary singularities of solutions of semilinear elliptic equations with critical Hardy potentials

We study the boundary behaviour of the of (E) $-\Gd u-\myfrac{\xk }{d^2(x)}u+g(u)=0$, where $0<\xk <\frac{1}{4}$ and $g$ is a continuous nonndecreasing function in a bounded convex domain of $\BBR^N$. We first construct the Martin kernel associated to the the linear operator $\CL_{\xk }=-\Gd-\frac{\xk }{d^2(x)}$ and give a general condition for solving equation (E) with any Radon measure $\gm$ for boundary data. When $g(u)=|u|^{q-1}u$ we show the existence of a critical exponent $q_c=q_c(N,\xk )>1$: when $0 1$ admits a boundary trace which is a positive outer regular Borel measure. When $1<q<q_c$ we prove that to any positive outer regular Borel measure we can associate a positive solutions of ($F$) with this boundary trace.

Wiener criteria for existence of large solutions of quasilinear elliptic equations with absorption

We obtain sufficient conditions expressed in terms of Wiener type tests involving Hausdorff or Bessel capacities for the existence of large solutions to equations (1) $-\Gd_pu+e^{λu}+β=0$ or (2) $-\Gd_pu+λ|u|^{q-1}u+β=0$ in a bounded domain $\Gw$ when $q>p-1>0, λ>0$ and $β\in\mathbb{R}$. We apply our results to equations (3) $-\Gd_pu+a\abs{\nabla u}^{q}+bu^{s}=0$, (4) $\Gd_p u+u^{-γ}=0$ with $10, b\geq 0$ and $(q-p+1)+b(s-p+1)>0$, $γ>0$.

Measure boundary value problem for semilinear elliptic equations with critical Hardy potentials

Let $Ω\subset\BBR^N$ be a bounded $C^2$ domain and $\CL_\gk=-\Gd-\frac{\gk}{d^2}$ the Hardy operator where $d=\dist (.,\prt\Gw)$ and $0<\gk\leq\frac{1}{4}$. Let $\ga_{\pm}=1\pm\sqrt{1-4\gk}$ be the two Hardy exponents, $\gl_\gk$ the first eigenvalue of $\CL_\gk$ with corresponding positive eigenfunction $ϕ_\gk$. If $g$ is a continuous nondecreasing function satisfying $\int_1^\infty(g(s)+|g(-s)|)s^{-2\frac{2N-2+\ga_+}{2N-4+\ga_+}}ds<\infty$, then for any Radon measures $\gn\in \GTM_{ϕ_\gk}(\Gw)$ and $\gm\in \GTM(\prt\Gw)$ there exists a unique weak solution to problem $P_{\gn,\gm}$: $\CL_\gk u+g(u)=\gn$ in $\Gw$, $u=\gm$ on $\prt\Gw$. If $g(r)=|r|^{q-1}u$ ($q>1$) we prove that, in the subcritical range of $q$, a necessary and sufficient condition for solving $P_{0,\gm}$ with $\gm>0$ is that $\gm$ is absolutely continuous with respect to the capacity associated to the Besov space $B^{2-\frac{2+\ga_+}{2q'},q'}(\BBR^{N-1})$. We also characterize the boundary removable sets in terms of this capacity. In the subcritical range of $q$ we classify the isolated singularities of positive solutions.

Boundary trace of positive solutions of supercritical semilinear elliptic equations in dihedral domains

We study the generalized boundary value problem for (E)\; $-Δu+|u|^{q-1}u=0$ in a dihedral domain $\Gw$, when $q>1$ is supercritical. The value of the critical exponent can take only a finite number of values depending on the geometry of $\Gw$. When $\gm$ is a bounded Borel measure in a k-wedge, we give necessary and sufficient conditions in order it be the boundary value of a solution of (E). We also give conditions which ensure that a boundary compact subset is removable. These conditions are expressed in terms of Bessel capacities $B_{s,q'}$ in $\BBR^{N-k}$ where $s$ depends on the characteristics of the wedge. This allows us to describe the boundary trace of a positive solution of (E)

Local and global properties of solutions of quasilinear Hamilton-Jacobi equations

We study some properties of the solutions of (E) $\;-\Gd_p u+|\nabla u|^q=0$ in a domain $\Gw \sbs \BBR^N$, mostly when $p\geq q>p-1$. We give a universal priori estimate of the gradient of the solutions with respect to the distance to the boundary. We give a full classification of the isolated singularities of the positive solutions of (E), a partial classification of isolated singularities of the negative solutions. We prove a general removability result in expressed in terms of some Bessel capacity of the removable set. We extend our estimates to equations on complete non compact manifolds satisfying a lower bound estimate on the Ricci curvature, and derive some Liouville type theorems.

Quasilinear and Hessian type equations with exponential reaction and measure data

We prove existence results concerning equations of the type $-Δ_pu=P(u)+μ$ for $p>1$ and $F_k[-u]=P(u)+μ$ with $1\leq k<\frac{N}{2}$ in a bounded domain $Ω$ or the whole $\mathbb{R}^N$, where $μ$ is a positive Radon measure and $P(u)\sim e^{au^β}$ with $a>0$ and $β\geq 1$. Sufficient conditions for existence are expressed in terms of the fractional maximal potential of $μ$. Two-sided estimates on the solutions are obtained in terms of some precise Wolff potentials of $μ$. Necessary conditions are obtained in terms of Orlicz capacities. We also establish existence results for a general Wolff potential equation under the form $u={\bf W}_{α,p}^R[P(u)]+f$ in $\mathbb{R}^N$, where $0

Classification of positive solutions of heat equation with supercritical absorption

Let $q\geq 1+\frac{2}{N}$. We prove that any positive solution of (E) $\prt_t u-\xD u+u^q=0$ in $\mathbb{R}^N\times(0,\infty)$ admits an initial trace which is a nonnegative Borel measure, outer regular with respect to the fine topology associated to the Bessel capacity $C_{\frac{2}{q},q'}$ in $\BBR^N$ ($q'=q/q-1)$) and absolutely continuous with respect to this capacity. If $ν$ is a nonnegative Borel measure in $\BBR^N$ with the above properties we construct a positive solution $u$ of (E) with initial trace $\gn$ and we prove that this solution is the unique $\gs$-moderate solution of (E) with such an initial trace. Finally we prove that every positive solution of (E) is $\gs$-moderate.

Weak and strong singular solutions of semilinear fractional elliptic equations

Let $p\in(0,\frac{N}{N-2α})$, $α\in(0,1)$ and $Ω\subset \R^N$ be a bounded $C^2$ domain containing $0$. If $δ_0$ is the Dirac measure at $0$ and $k>0$, we prove that the weakly singular solution $u_k$ of $(E_k)$ $ (-Δ)^αu+u^p=kδ_0 $ in $Ω$ which vanishes in $Ω^c$, is a classical solution of $(E_*)$ $ (-Δ)^αu+u^p=0 $ in $Ω\setminus\{0\}$ with the same outer data. When $\frac{2α}{N-2α}\leq 1+\frac{2α}{N}$, $p\in(0, 1+\frac{2α}{N}]$ we show that the $u_k$ converges to $\infty$ in whole $Ω$ when $k\to\infty$, while, for $p\in(1+\frac{2α}N,\frac{N}{N-2α})$, the limit of the $u_k$ is a strongly singular solution of $(E_*)$. The same result holds in the case $1+\frac{2α}{N}<\frac{2α}{N-2α}$ excepted if $\frac{2α}{N}

Semilinear fractional elliptic equations with gradient nonlinearity involving measures

We study the existence of solutions to the fractional elliptic equation (E1) $(-Δ)^αu+εg(|\nabla u|)=ν$ in a bounded regular domain $Ω$ of $\R^N (N\ge2)$, subject to the condition (E2) $u=0$ in $Ω^c$, where $ε=1$ or $-1$, $(-Δ)^α$ denotes the fractional Laplacian with $α\in(1/2,1)$, $ν$ is a Radon measure and $g:\R_+\mapsto\R_+$ is a continuous function. We prove the existence of weak solutions for problem (E1)-(E2) when $g$ is subcritical. Furthermore, the asymptotic behavior and uniqueness of solutions are described when $ν$ is Dirac mass, $g(s)=s^p$, $p\geq 1$ and $ε=1$.

Quasilinear elliptic Hamilton-Jacobi equations on complete manifolds

Let (M^n,g) be a n-dimensional complete, non-compact and connected Riemannian manifold, with Ricci tensor Ricc_g and sectional curvature Sec_g. Assume Ricc_g\geq (1-n)B^2, and either p>2 and Sec_g(x)=o(dist^2(x,a)) when dist^2(x,a)\to\infty for a\in M, or 1 p-1> 0, any C^1 solution of (E) -\Gd_pu+\abs{\nabla u}^q=0 on M satisfies \abs{\nabla u(x)}\leq c_{n,p,q}B^{\frac{1}{q+1-p}} for some constant c_{n,p,q}>0. As a consequence there exists c_{n,p}>0 such that any positive p-harmonic function v on M satisfies v(a)e^{-c_{n,p}B\dist (x,a)}\leq v(x)\leq v(a)e^{c_{n,p}B\dist (x,a)} for any (a,x)\in M\times M.

Semilinear fractional elliptic equations involving measures

We study the existence of weak solutions of (E) $ (-Δ)^αu+g(u)=ν$ in a bounded regular domain $Ω$ in $\R^N (N\ge2)$ which vanish on $\R^N\setminusΩ$, where $(-Δ)^α$ denotes the fractional Laplacian with $α\in(0,1)$, $ν$ is a Radon measure and $g$ is a nondecreasing function satisfying some extra hypothesis. When $g$ satisfies a subcritical integrability condition, we prove the existence and uniqueness of a weak solution for problem (E) for any measure. In the case where $ν$ is Dirac measure, we characterize the asymptotic behavior of the solution. When $g(r)=|r|^{k-1}r$ with $k$ supercritical, we show that a condition of absolute continuity of the measure with respect to some Bessel capacity is a necessary and sufficient condition in order (E) to be solved.

Remarks on some quasilinear equations with gradient terms and measure data

Let $Ω\subset \mathbb{R}^{N}$ be a smooth bounded domain, $H$ a Caratheodory function defined in $Ω\times \mathbb{R\times R}^{N},$ and $μ$ a bounded Radon measure in $Ω.$ We study the problem% \begin{equation*} -Δ_{p}u+H(x,u,\nabla u)=μ\quad \text{in}Ω,\qquad u=0\quad \text{on}\partial Ω, \end{equation*} where $Δ_{p}$ is the $p$-Laplacian ($p>1$)$,$ and we emphasize the case $H(x,u,\nabla u)=\pm \left\| \nabla u\right\| ^{q}$ ($q>0$). We obtain an existence result under subcritical growth assumptions on $H,$ we give necessary conditions of existence in terms of capacity properties, and we prove removability results of eventual singularities. In the supercritical case, when $μ\geqq 0$ and $H$ is an absorption term, i.e. $% H\geqq 0,$ we give two sufficient conditions for existence of a nonnegative solution.

Singular solutions of fractional elliptic equations with absorption

The aim of this paper is to study the singular solutions to fractional elliptic equations with absorption $$ \left\{\arraycolsep=1pt \begin{array}{lll} (-Δ)^αu+|u|^{p-1}u=0,\quad & \rm{in}\quadΩ\setminus\{0\},\\[2mm] u=0,\quad & \rm{in}\quad \R^N\setminusΩ,\\[2mm] \lim_{x\to 0}u(x)=+\infty, \end{array} \right. $$ where $p>0$, $Ω$ is an open, bounded and smooth domain of $\R^N\ (N\ge2)$ with $0\inΩ$. We analyze the existence, nonexistence, uniqueness and asymptotic behavior of the solutions.

Quasilinear Lane-Emden equations with absorption and measure data

We study the existence of solutions to the equation $-\Gd_pu+g(x,u)=μ$ when $g(x,.)$ is a nondecreasing function and $\gm$ a measure. We characterize the good measures, i.e. the ones for which the problem as a renormalized solution. We study particularly the cases where $g(x,u)=\abs x^β\abs u^{q-1}u$ and $g(x,u)=\abs x^τ\rm{sgn}(u)(e^{τ\abs u^λ}-1)$. The results state that a measure is good if it is absolutely continuous with respect to an appropriate Lorentz-Bessel capacities.

Initial value problems for diffusion equations with singular potential

Let $V$ be a nonnegative locally bounded function defined in $Q_\infty:=\BBR^n\times(0,\infty)$. We study under what conditions on $V$ and on a Radon measure $\gm$ in $\mathbb{R}^d$ does it exist a function which satisfies $\partial_t u-\xD u+ Vu=0$ in $Q_\infty$ and $u(.,0)=\xm$. We prove the existence of a subcritical case in which any measure is admissible and a supercritical case where capacitary conditions are needed. We obtain a general representation theorem of positive solutions when $t V(x,t)$ is bounded and we prove the existence of an initial trace in the class of outer regular Borel measures.
