Frequency-Division Multiplexing in Magnonic Waveguides

Frequency-division multiplexing is a key functionality for wave-based information processing, enabling multiple information channels to coexist within the same physical medium. Here, we experimentally investigate spin-wave multiplexing in a CoFeB waveguide using all-electrical excitation and detection. Two independently generated microwave signals are simultaneously coupled into the same spin-wave waveguide through inductive antennas and characterized using broadband vector network analyzer measurements. The transmission spectra obtained under single-channel and multiplexed operation exhibit excellent agreement, demonstrating that spin waves with different frequencies and wavelengths propagate simultaneously without measurable interaction in the linear regime. The observation is confirmed using both dual-sweep and sweep-plus-single-tone excitation schemes. A theoretical analysis based on linear superposition and phase-sensitive detection explains the absence of observable inter-channel interference for independent microwave sources. Micromagnetic simulations further confirm that the amplitudes and wavevectors of the individual spin-wave modes remain unchanged during co-propagation, demonstrating the absence of interaction over the entire propagation distance. The results provide direct experimental evidence that independent spin-wave channels can coexist in a single waveguide and support the implementation of frequency-division multiplexing in future magnonic computing and microwave signal-processing architectures.

Switchable Magnonic Crystals Based on Spin Crossover/CrSBr Heterostructures

The progress of magnonics ultimately depends on material platforms that offer precise control of spin waves propagation. Here, we put forward a chemical strategy to create locally tunable magnonic crystals by integrating switchable spin-crossover (SCO) molecules with 2D van der Waals magnets. Specifically, we investigate from first principles a hybrid molecular/2D heterostructure formed by [Fe((3,5-(CH3)2Pz)3BH)2] molecules (Fe-pz) deposited on a single-layer of semiconducting CrSBr. We show that Fe-pz molecules are stable on CrSBr while preserving its SCO bistability, particularly in densely packed molecular arrays. By patterning Fe-pz into periodic stripes separated by pristine CrSBr regions, the interface becomes a magnonic crystal that filters spin waves at selected frequencies. Crucially, light-driven excited spin-state trapping (LIESST) enables LS-HS switching and induces up to ~1.3% local strain in CrSBr, which in turn reshapes the magnonic band structure in a dynamic and reversible manner. These results establish Fe-pz@CrSBr as a switchable platform for on-chip, programmable magnonic devices.

Analysis of First Order Reversal Curves in the Thermal Hysteresis of Spin-crossover Nanoparticles within the Mechanoelastic Model

The recently obtained spin-crossover nanoparticles are possible candidates for applications in the recording media industry as materials for data storage, or as pressure and temperature sensors. For these applications the intermolecular interactions and interactions between spin-crossover nanoparticles are extremely important, as they may be essential factors in triggering the transition between the two stable phases: the high-spin and low-spin ones. In order to find correlations between the distributions in size and interactions and the transition temperatures distribution, we apply the FORC (First Order Reversal Curves) method, using simulations based on a mechanoelastic model applied to 2D triangular lattices composed of molecules linked by springs and embedded in a surfactant. We consider two Gaussian distributions: one of the size of the nanoparticles and one of the elastic interactions between edge spin-crossover molecules and the surfactant molecules. In order to disentangle the kinetic and non-kinetic parts of the FORC distributions, we compare the results obtained for different temperature sweeping rates. We also show that the presence of few larger particles in a distribution centered around much smaller particles dramatically increases the hysteresis width.
