Sub-Randers metrics

We introduce a new class of sub-Finsler metrics, called sub-Randers metrics, obtained by adding a one-form $\beta \in \Gamma(\mathcal{D}^*)$ to a sub-Riemannian metric $a$ on a bracket-generating distribution $\mathcal{D} \subset TM$. We define a sub-Randers manifold as a triple $(M, \mathcal{D}, F)$, where $M$ is an $n$-dimensional smooth manifold and $F(v) = \sqrt{a(v,v)} + \beta(v)$, the condition $\|\beta\|_a < 1$ ensures positive definiteness and convexity. Explicit equations for sub-Randers normal geodesics are derived, and we show that normal geodesics depend on $\beta$ while abnormal geodesics are determined solely by the bracket-generating distribution $\mathcal{D}$. Furthermore, we show that Zermelo navigation on $\mathcal{D}$ naturally generates sub-Randers normal geodesics. Finally, we prove a Hopf-Rinow type theorem which guarantees the existence of minimizing geodesics despite asymmetry, generalizing classical results to the sub-Randers setting.

Sub-Finsler geometry and nonholonomic mechanics

We discuss a variational approach to the length functional and its relation to sub-Hamiltonian equations on sub-Finsler manifolds. Then, we introduce the notion of the nonholonomic sub-Finslerian structure and prove that the distributions are geodesically invariant concerning the Barthel non-linear connection. We provide necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of the curves that are abnormal extremals; likewise, we provide necessary and sufficient conditions for normal extremals to be the motion of a free nonholonomic mechanical system, and vice versa. Moreover, we show that a coordinate-free approach for a free particle is a comparison between the solutions of the nonholonomic mechanical problem and the solutions of the Vakonomic dynamical problem for the nonholonomic sub-Finslerian structure. In addition, we provide an example of the nonholonomic sub-Finslerian structure. Finally, we show that the sub-Laplacian measures the curvature of the nonholonomic sub-Finslerian structure.

Hopf-Rinow Theorem of sub-Finslerian geometry

The sub-Finslerian geometry means that the metric $F$ is defined only on a given subbundle of the tangent bundle, called a horizontal bundle. In the paper, a version of the Hopf-Rinow theorem is proved in the case of sub-Finslerian manifolds, which relates the properties of completeness, geodesically completeness, and compactness. The sub-Finsler bundle, the exponential map and the Legendre transformation are deeply involved in this investigation.

A note on the distributions in quantum mechanical systems

In this paper, we study the distributions and the affine distributions of the quantum mechanical system. Also, we discuss the controllability of the quantum mechanical system with the related question concerning the minimum time needed to steer a quantum system from a unitary evolution $U(0)=I$ of the unitary propagator to a desired unitary propagator $U_f$. Furthermore, the paper introduces a description of a $\mathfrak{k} \oplus \mathfrak{p}$ sub-Finsler manifold with its geodesics, which equivalents to the problem of driving the quantum mechanical system from an arbitrary initial state $U(0)=I$ to the target state $U_f$, some illustrative examples are included. We prove that the Lie group $G$ on a Finsler symmetric manifold $G/K$ can be decomposed into $KAK$.

Certain properties of contra-T*12-continuous functions

The concept of contra function was introduced by Dontchev [2], in this work, we use the notion of T*12-open to study a new class of function called a contra-T*12-continuous function as a generalization of contra-continuous.

On $\mathcal{B}$-Open Sets

The aim of this paper is to define and study $\mathcal{B}$-open sets and related properties. A $\mathcal{B}$-open set is, roughly speaking, a generalization of a $b$-open set, which is in turn a generalization of a pre-open set and a semi-open set. Using $\mathcal{B}$-open sets, we introduce a number of concepts such as $\mathcal{B}$-dense, $\mathcal{B}$-Frechet, contra-$\mathcal{B}$-closed graph and contra-$\mathcal{B}$-continuity. Also, we define a bi-operator topological space $(X, τ, T_1, T_2)$ which involves two operators $T_1$ and $T_2$, which are used to define $\mathcal{B}$-open sets.

On the class of weakly almost contra-T*-continuous functions

The aim of this paper is to introduce and investigate a new class of functions called weakly almost contra-$T^*$-continuity which is defined as a function from an operator topological space $(X, τ, T)$ into an arbitrary topological space $(Y, δ)$. Furthermore, some new characterizations, several basic propositions are proved and some relevant counterexamples are provided.

On non-positive curvature properties of the Hilbert metric

In this paper, we consider different types of non-positive curvature properties of the Hilbert metric of a convex domain in R^n. First, we survey the relationships among the concepts and prove that in the case of Hilbert metric some of them are equivalent. Furthermore, we show some condition which implies the rigidity feature: if the Hilbert metric is Berwald, i.e., its Finslerian Chern connection reduces to a linear one, then the domain is an ellipsoid and the metric is Riemannian.
