Computing finite Weyl groupoids

We present algorithms to compute generalized root systems of Nichols algebras of diagonal type and of contragredient Lie superalgebras. As a consequence, we obtain an algorithm to compute the Lyndon words in the Kharchenko PBW basis associated to each positive root, along with their corresponding hyperwords. This data is essential for obtaining a minimal presentation of Nichols algebras of diagonal type with a finite root system.

Incremental SAT-Based Enumeration of Solutions to the Yang-Baxter Equation

We tackle the problem of enumerating set-theoretic solutions to the Yang-Baxter equation. This equation originates from statistical and quantum mechanics, but also has applications in knot theory, cryptography, quantum computation and group theory. Non-degenerate, involutive solutions have been enumerated for sets up to size 10 using constraint programming with partial static symmetry breaking; for general non-involutive solutions, a similar approach was used to enumerate solutions for sets up to size 8. In this paper, we use and extend the SAT Modulo Symmetries framework (SMS), to expand the boundaries for which solutions are known. The SMS framework relies on a minimality check; we present two solutions to this, one that stays close to the original one designed for enumerating graphs and a new incremental, SAT-based approach. With our new method, we can reproduce previously known results much faster and also report on results for sizes that have remained out of reach so far. This is an extended version of a paper to appear in the proceedings of the 31st International Conference on Tools and Algorithms for the Construction and Analysis of Systems.

Skew braces: a brief survey

Our primary focus is on the theory of skew braces, specifically exploring their connection with combinatorial solutions to the Yang-Baxter equation. Skew braces have recently emerged as intriguing algebraic structures, and their link to the Yang-Baxter equation adds further depth and significance to their study. Throughout this article, we place particular emphasis on various problems and conjectures that arise within this field. These open questions serve to stimulate further research and investigation, as we strive to enhance our understanding of skew braces and their role in the study of the Yang-Baxter equation.

Isoclinism of skew braces

We define isoclinism of skew braces and present several applications. We study some properties of skew braces that are invariant under isoclinism. For example, we prove that right nilpotency is an isoclinism invariant. This result has application in the theory of set-theoretic solutions to the Yang-Baxter equation. We define isoclinic solutions and study multipermutation solutions under isoclinism.

On computing finite index subgroups of PSL(2,Z)

We present a method to compute finite index subgroups of $PSL_2(\mathbb{Z})$. Our strategy follows Kulkarni's ideas, the main contribution being a recursive method to compute bivalent trees and their automorphism group. As a concrete application, we compute all subgroups of index up to 20. We then use this database to produce tables with several arithmetical properties.

Combinatorial solutions to the reflection equation

We use ring-theoretic methods and methods from the theory of skew braces to produce set-theoretic solutions to the reflection equation. We also use set-theoretic solutions to construct solutions to the parameter-dependent reflection equation.

Quantum invariants via Hopf algebras and solutions to the Yang-Baxter equation

The fundamental problem of knot theory is to know whether two knots are equivalent or not. As a tool to prove that two knots are different, mathematicians have developed various invariants. Knots invariants are just functions that can be computed from the knot and depend only on the topology of the knot. Here we describe quantum invariants, a powerful family of invariants related to the celebrated Yang-Baxter equation.

Skew left braces of nilpotent type

We study series of left ideals of skew left braces that are analogs of upper central series of groups. These concepts allow us to define left and right nilpotent skew left braces. Several results related to these concepts are proved and applications to infinite left braces are given. Indecomposable solutions of the Yang-Baxter equation are explored using the structure of skew left braces.

Problems on skew left braces

Braces were introduced by Rump as a generalization of Jacobson radical rings. It turns out that braces allow us to use ring-theoretic and group-theoretic methods for studying involutive solutions to the Yang-Baxter equation. If braces are replaced by skew braces, then one can use similar methods for studying not necessarily involutive solutions. Here we collect problems related to (skew) braces and set-theoretic solutions to the Yang-Baxter equation.

Doubly transitive groups and cyclic quandles

We prove that for n>2 there exists a quandle of cyclic type of size n if and only if n is a power of a prime number. This establishes a conjecture of S. Kamada, H. Tamaru and K. Wada. As a corollary, every finite quandle of cyclic type is an Alexander quandle. We also prove that finite doubly transitive quandles are of cyclic type. This establishes a conjecture of H. Tamaru.

Frobenius property for fusion categories of small integral dimension

Let k be an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero. In this paper we prove that fusion categories of Frobenius-Perron dimensions 84 and 90 are of Frobenius type. Combining this with previous results in the literature, we obtain that every weakly integral fusion category of Frobenius-Perron dimension less than 120 is of Frobenius type.
