Precision Imaging of the Pion Emission Source in Heavy-Ion Collisions via a Global Rest Frame Analysis

Conventional imaging of pion emission sources, conducted in the center-of-mass frame of individual pion pairs (CMFP), suffers from frame-dependent kinematic distortions that bias the reconstructed source morphology. This method introduces spurious correlations due to the relative boost between the CMFP and the true source rest frame (CMFS), leading to systematic image distortions with a pronounced non-Gaussian tail. We present a transformative approach by performing correlation analysis directly in the global source rest frame (CMFS), the physically meaningful reference frame of the collision fireball. This paradigm shift eliminates kinematic contamination inherent in conventional CMFP-based imaging. The resulting source image shows a dramatic suppression of the non-Gaussian artifact and achieves significantly better agreement with pristine model source functions. Our technique offers a more direct and uncontaminated probe of the intrinsic source geometry, overcoming the limitations of prior methods. It provides a clearer and more accurate determination of the spacetime properties of the nuclear collision fireball, marking a significant advancement in the field.

Strong decays of excited $ 2^+ $ charmed mesons

The new charmed resonance $ D_2^*(3000) $ was observed by the LHCb Collaboration in $ B $ decays. In this paper, by assigning it as four possible excited states of the $ 2^+ $ family, we use the instantaneous Bethe-Salpeter method to calculate their Okubo-Zweig-Iizuka-allowed two-body strong decays. The results of $ 1^3F_2 $ and $ 3^3P_2 $ states deviate from the present experimental observation while $ 2^3P_2 $ and $ 2^3F_2 $ are in the error range. Our study also reveals that the widths of these states depend strongly on the masses. Due to the large uncertainties and different mass input, variable models get inconsistent conclusions at the moment. The analysis in this work can provide essential assistance for future measurements and investigations.

CP violation in non-leptonic $B_c$ decays to excited final states

We study the CP violation in two-body nonleptonic decays of $B_c$ meson. We concentrate on the decay channels which contain at least one excited heavy meson in the final states. Specifically, the following channels are considered: $B_c\to c\bar c(2S, 2P)+\bar cq(1S, 1P)$, $B_c\to c\bar c(1S)+\bar cq(2S, 2P)$, $B_c\to c\bar c(1P)+\bar cq(2S)$, $B_c\to c\bar c(1D)+\bar cq(1S, 1P)$, and $B_c\to c\bar c(3S)+\bar cq(1S)$. The improved Bethe-Salpeter method is applied to calculate the hadronic transition matrix element. Our results show that some decay modes have large branching ratios, which is of the order of $10^{-3}$. The CP violation effect in $B_c \rightarrow η_c(1S)+D(2S)$, $B_c \rightarrow η_c(1S)+D_0^{*}(2P)$, and $B_c \rightarrow J/ψ+D^{*}(2S)$ are most likely to be found. If the detection precision of the CP asymmetry in such channels can reach the $3σ$ level, at least $10^7$ $B_c$ events are needed.

The effect of single-particle space-momentum angle distribution on two-pion HBT correlation in relativistic heavy-ion collisions by using a multiphase transport model

With the string melting version of a multiphase transport(AMPT) model, we analyze the transverse momentum dependence of HBT radius $R_{\rm s}$ and the single-pion transverse angle distribution in central Au+Au collisions at $\sqrt{S_{NN}}=19.6, 27, 39, 62.4, 200$ GeV. And base on a series of functions, a numerical connection between these two phenomena has been built. We can estimate the single-pion transverse angle distribution from the HBT analysis.

The weak $B$, $B_s$ and $B_c$ decays to radially excited states

Recently, many new excited states of heavy mesons, especially the radially excited states, are discovered. The study of the production processes of these states from the ground b-flavored mesons is of interest. In this paper, we use the improved Bethe-Salpeter method to study the semi-leptonic and non-leptonic decays of $B$, $B_s$, and $B_c$ mesons, where the final states are focused on the radial excited $2S$ and $3S$ states. We find that many channels have branching ratios up to $10^{-4}$, which are within the detection accuracy of current experiments.

The effect of single-particle space-momentum angle distribution on two-pion HBT correlation in high-energy heavy-ion collisions

Using several source models, we analyze the transverse momentum dependence of HBT radii in the relativistic heavy-ion collisions. The results indicate that the single-particle space-momentum angle distribution plays an important role in the transverse momentum dependence of HBT radii. In a cylinder source, we use several formulas to describe the transverse momentum dependence of HBT radii and the single-particle space-momentum angle distribution. We also make a numerical connection between them in the transverse plane.

Analysis of the image of pion-emitting sources in source center of mass frame

In this paper, we try a method to extract the image of pion-emitting source function in the center-of-mass frame of source (CMFS). We choose the identical pion pairs according to the difference of their energy and use these pion pairs to build the correlation function. The purpose is to reduce the effect of $\triangle E \triangle t$, thus the corresponding imaging result can tend to the real source function. We examine the effect of this method by comparing its results with real source functions extracted from models directly.

Methods for analysis of two-particle rapidity correlation function in high-energy heavy-ion collisions

Two-particle rapidity (or pseudorapidity) correlation function $C(y_1, y_2)$ was used in analysing fluctuation of particle density distribution in rapidity in high-energy heavy-ion collisions. In our research, we argue that for a centrality window, some additional correlation may be caused by a centrality span, when the mean two- and single-particle densities over a centrality window are used directly in the calculation , just like $\left / \left[\left \left \right]$. We concentrate on removing the influence of collision-centrality span on correlation function, and two calculation methods are raised. In one method, correlation coefficients are considered to be the ratios of probabilities (not the particle density). In the other method, a relative multiplicity is introduced to unity the events of different centralities. For testing the methods, {\sc ampt} model is used and a toy granular model is built to simulate the fluctuation of particle density in rapidity.

Differential flow correlations in relativistic heavy-ion collisions

A systematic analysis of correlations between different orders of $p_T$-differential flow is presented, including mode coupling effects in flow vectors, correlations between flow angles (a.k.a. event-plane correlations), and correlations between flow magnitudes, all of which were previously studied with integrated flows. We find that the mode coupling effects among differential flows largely mirror those among the corresponding integrated flows, except at small transverse momenta where mode coupling contributions are small. For the fourth- and fifth-order flow vectors $V_4$ and $V_5$ we argue that the event plane correlations can be understood as the ratio between the mode coupling contributions to these flows and and the flow magnitudes. We also find that for $V_4$ and $V_5$ the linear response contribution scales linearly with the corresponding cumulant-defined eccentricities but not with the standard eccentricities.

Extracting temperature and transverse flow by fitting transverse mass spectra and HBT radii together

Single particle transverse mass spectra and HBT radii of identical pion and identical kaon are analyzed with a blast-wave parametrization under the assumptions local thermal equilibrium and transverse expansion. Under the assumptions, temperature parameter $T$ and transverse expansion rapidity $ρ$ are sensitive to the shapes of transverse mass $m_\text T$ spectrum and HBT radius $R_\text{s}(K_\text T)$. Negative and positive correlations between $T$ and $ρ$ are observed by fitting $m_\text{T}$ spectrum and HBT radius $R_\text s (K_\text T)$, respectively. For a Monte Carlo simulation using the blast-wave function, $T$ and $ρ$ are extracted by fitting $m_T$ spectra and HBT radii together utilizing a combined optimization function $χ^2$. With this method, $T$ and $ρ$ of the Monte Carlo sources can be extracted. Using this method for A Multi-Phase Transport model (AMPT) at RHIC energy, the differences of $T$ and $ρ$ between pion and kaon are observed obviously, and the tendencies of $T$ and $ρ$ vs collision energy $\sqrt{s_\text{NN}}$ are similar with the results extracted directly from the AMPT model.

Neutrino Physics with JUNO

The Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory (JUNO), a 20 kton multi-purpose underground liquid scintillator detector, was proposed with the determination of the neutrino mass hierarchy as a primary physics goal. It is also capable of observing neutrinos from terrestrial and extra-terrestrial sources, including supernova burst neutrinos, diffuse supernova neutrino background, geoneutrinos, atmospheric neutrinos, solar neutrinos, as well as exotic searches such as nucleon decays, dark matter, sterile neutrinos, etc. We present the physics motivations and the anticipated performance of the JUNO detector for various proposed measurements. By detecting reactor antineutrinos from two power plants at 53-km distance, JUNO will determine the neutrino mass hierarchy at a 3-4 sigma significance with six years of running. The measurement of antineutrino spectrum will also lead to the precise determination of three out of the six oscillation parameters to an accuracy of better than 1\%. Neutrino burst from a typical core-collapse supernova at 10 kpc would lead to ~5000 inverse-beta-decay events and ~2000 all-flavor neutrino-proton elastic scattering events in JUNO. Detection of DSNB would provide valuable information on the cosmic star-formation rate and the average core-collapsed neutrino energy spectrum. Geo-neutrinos can be detected in JUNO with a rate of ~400 events per year, significantly improving the statistics of existing geoneutrino samples. The JUNO detector is sensitive to several exotic searches, e.g. proton decay via the $p\to K^++\barν$ decay channel. The JUNO detector will provide a unique facility to address many outstanding crucial questions in particle and astrophysics. It holds the great potential for further advancing our quest to understanding the fundamental properties of neutrinos, one of the building blocks of our Universe.

Elliptic and Triangular Flow of Identified Particles from the AMPT Model at RHIC Energies

The elliptic flow ($v_{2}$) at $\sqrt{s_{\rm NN}} = $ 11.5, 39, and 200 GeV and triangular flow ($v_{3}$) at $\sqrt{s_{\rm NN}} = $ 200 GeV of identified particles ($π^{\pm}, K^{\pm}, K^{0}_{S}, p, \bar{p}, ϕ, Λ$ and $\barΛ$) from 0\%--80\% central Au+Au collisions are analyzed using a multiphase transport (AMPT) model. It is shown that the experimental results from the $η$-sub event plane method can be reproduced with a parton scattering cross section between 1.5 and 3 mb. We also studied the differential and integrated $v_{2}/v_{3}$ ratios and conclude that they are anti-corrected with the parton scattering cross section.

Imaging of granular sources in high energy heavy ion collisions

We investigate the source imaging for a granular pion-emitting source model in high energy heavy ion collisions. The two-pion source functions of the granular sources exhibit a two-tiered structure. Using a parametrized formula of granular two-pion source function, we examine the two-tiered structure of the source functions for the imaging data of Au+Au collisions at Alternating Gradient Synchrotron (AGS) and Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC). We find that the imaging technique introduced by Brown and Danielewicz is suitable for probing the granular structure of the sources. Our data-fitting results indicate that there is not visible granularity for the sources at AGS energies. However, the data for the RHIC collisions with the selections of $40 < {\rm centrality} < 90%$ and $0.20<k_{\rm T}<0.36$ GeV/c are better described by the model with granular emission than that of one Gaussian. The model with granular source has more parameters than the simple Gaussian, hence can describe more complicated shapes.
