Simultaneously generating Brillouin microlaser and second harmonic within a lithium niobate microdisk

We report the simultaneous generation of second-harmonic generation (SHG) and Brillouin microlaser in a high-quality thin-film lithium niobate (TFLN) microdisk resonator. The microdisk is fabricated with ultrahigh-Q factor of 4X10(6) by photolithography-assisted chemo-mechanical etching, enabling significant cavity-enhancement effect for boosting nonlinear frequency conversion. Under 1559.632 nm pumping, Brillouin microlaser is demonstrated in the microdisk with Stokes Brillouin shift of 10 GHz, a low threshold of 1.81 mW, and a fundamental linewidth of 254.365 Hz. Meanwhile, efficient SHG is observed at 779.816 nm with an absolute conversion efficiency of 3.8% at pump level of 3.028 mW. The coexistence of these two nonlinear processes is enabled by the simultaneous confinement of the light and acoustic fileds for effect coupling in the microdisk, which enhances both optomechanical and second-order nonlinear interactions. This research provides new possibilities for integrated multi-frequency laser sources and multifunctional nonlinear photonic devices.

ElimPCL: Eliminating Noise Accumulation with Progressive Curriculum Labeling for Source-Free Domain Adaptation

Source-Free Domain Adaptation (SFDA) aims to train a target model without source data, and the key is to generate pseudo-labels using a pre-trained source model. However, we observe that the source model often produces highly uncertain pseudo-labels for hard samples, particularly those heavily affected by domain shifts, leading to these noisy pseudo-labels being introduced even before adaptation and further reinforced through parameter updates. Additionally, they continuously influence neighbor samples through propagation in the feature space. To eliminate the issue of noise accumulation, we propose a novel Progressive Curriculum Labeling (ElimPCL) method, which iteratively filters trustworthy pseudo-labeled samples based on prototype consistency to exclude high-noise samples from training. Furthermore, a Dual MixUP technique is designed in the feature space to enhance the separability of hard samples, thereby mitigating the interference of noisy samples on their neighbors.Extensive experiments validate the effectiveness of ElimPCL, achieving up to a 3.4% improvement on challenging tasks compared to state-of-the-art methods.

Constraints on Velocity and Spin Dependent Exotic Interaction at the Millimeter Scale with a Diamagnetic-levitated Force Sensor

Light bosons, beyond the standard model and as prominent candidates for dark matter, can mediate velocity and spin dependent exotic interaction between electron spins and nucleons. At short ranges, it remains an open challenge to test this exotic interaction with high precision. Here, we present a method based on diamagnetic-levitated force sensor to detect the exotic interaction at the millimeter scale. Improved constraints for the coupling $g_A^e g_V^N$ are established, within the force range spanning from 0.15 mm to 1.5 mm. And the constraint $|g_A^e g_V^N| \leq 4.39 \times10^{-26}$ at $λ$ = 0.5 mm at the $95 \%$ confidence level, significantly surpasses previous results by more than three orders of magnitude. The diamagnetic levitation force measurement system developed here can also be repurposed to probe other exotic spin-dependent interactions, such as the exotic spin-spin interaction. This system provides a platform for the exploration of dark matter.

Distributed Forgetting-factor Regret-based Online Optimization over Undirected Connected Networks

The evaluation of final-iteration tracking performance is a formidable obstacle in distributed online optimization algorithms. To address this issue, this paper proposes a novel evaluation metric named distributed forgetting-factor regret (DFFR). It incorporates a weight into the loss function at each iteration, which progressively reduces the weights of historical loss functions while enabling dynamic weights allocation across optimization horizon. Furthermore, we develop two distributed online optimization algorithms based on DFFR over undirected connected networks: the Distributed Online Gradient-free Algorithm for bandit-feedback problems and the Distributed Online Projection-free Algorithm for high-dimensional problems. Through theoretical analysis, we derive the upper bounds of DFFR for both algorithms and further prove that under mild conditions, DFFR either converges to zero or maintains a tight upper bound as iterations approach infinity. Experimental simulation demonstrates the effectiveness of the algorithms and the superior performance of DFFR.

T-MAC: CPU Renaissance via Table Lookup for Low-Bit LLM Deployment on Edge

The deployment of Large Language Models (LLMs) on edge devices is increasingly important to enhance on-device intelligence. Weight quantization is crucial for reducing the memory footprint of LLMs on devices. However, low-bit LLMs necessitate mixed precision matrix multiplication (mpGEMM) of low precision weights and high precision activations during inference. Existing systems, lacking native support for mpGEMM, resort to dequantize weights for high precision computation. Such an indirect way can lead to a significant inference overhead. In this paper, we introduce T-MAC, an innovative lookup table(LUT)-based method designed for efficient low-bit LLM (i.e., weight-quantized LLM) inference on CPUs. T-MAC directly supports mpGEMM without dequantization, while simultaneously eliminating multiplications and reducing additions required. Specifically, T-MAC transforms the traditional data-type-centric multiplication to bit-wise table lookup, and enables a unified and scalable mpGEMM solution. Our LUT-based kernels scale linearly to the weight bit-width. Evaluated on low-bit Llama and BitNet models, T-MAC demonstrates up to 4x increase in throughput and 70% reduction in energy consumption compared to llama.cpp. For BitNet-b1.58-3B, T-MAC delivers a token generation throughput of 30 tokens/s with a single core and 71 tokens/s with eight cores on M2-Ultra, and 11 tokens/s on lower-end devices like Raspberry Pi 5, which significantly exceeds the adult average reading speed. T-MAC with LUT-based computing paradigm, paves the way for the practical deployment of low-bit LLMs on resource-constrained edge devices without compromising computational efficiency. The system is open-sourced at https://github.com/microsoft/T-MAC .

Design of an Expression Recognition Solution Based on the Global Channel-Spatial Attention Mechanism and Proportional Criterion Fusion

Facial expression recognition is a challenging classification task that holds broad application prospects in the field of human-computer interaction. This paper aims to introduce the method we will adopt in the 8th Affective and Behavioral Analysis in the Wild (ABAW) Competition, which will be held during the Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition (CVPR) in 2025.First of all, we apply the frequency masking technique and the method of extracting data at equal time intervals to conduct targeted processing on the original videos. Then, based on the residual hybrid convolutional neural network and the multi-branch convolutional neural network respectively, we design feature extraction models for image and audio sequences. In particular, we propose a global channel-spatial attention mechanism to enhance the features initially extracted from both the audio and image modalities respectively. Finally, we adopt a decision fusion strategy based on the proportional criterion to fuse the classification results of the two single modalities, obtain an emotion probability vector, and output the final emotional classification. We also design a coarse - fine granularity loss function to optimize the performance of the entire network, which effectively improves the accuracy of facial expression recognition. In the facial expression recognition task of the 8th ABAW Competition, our method ranked third on the official validation set. This result fully confirms the effectiveness and competitiveness of the method we have proposed.

ISLS: IoT-Based Smart Lighting System for Improving Energy Conservation in Office Buildings

With the Internet of Things (IoT) fostering seamless device-to-human and device-to-device interactions, the domain of intelligent lighting systems have evolved beyond simple occupancy and daylight sensing towards autonomous monitoring and control of power consumption and illuminance levels. To this regard, this paper proposes a new do-it-yourself (DIY) IoT-based method of smart lighting system featuring an illuminance control algorithm. The design involves the integration of occupancy and presence sensors alongside a communication module, to enable real-time wireless interaction and remote monitoring of the system parameters from any location through an end-user application. A constrained optimization problem was formulated to determine the optimal dimming vector for achieving target illuminance at minimal power consumption. The simplex algorithm was used to solve this problem, and the system's performance was validated through both MATLAB simulations and real-world prototype testing in an indoor office environment. The obtained experimental results demonstrate substantial power savings across multiple user occupancy scenarios, achieving reductions of approx. 80%, 48%, and 26% for one, two, and four user settings, respectively, in comparison to traditional basic lighting installation systems.

Robust Dataset Distillation by Matching Adversarial Trajectories

Dataset distillation synthesizes compact datasets that enable models to achieve performance comparable to training on the original large-scale datasets. However, existing distillation methods overlook the robustness of the model, resulting in models that are vulnerable to adversarial attacks when trained on distilled data. To address this limitation, we introduce the task of ``robust dataset distillation", a novel paradigm that embeds adversarial robustness into the synthetic datasets during the distillation process. We propose Matching Adversarial Trajectories (MAT), a method that integrates adversarial training into trajectory-based dataset distillation. MAT incorporates adversarial samples during trajectory generation to obtain robust training trajectories, which are then used to guide the distillation process. As experimentally demonstrated, even through natural training on our distilled dataset, models can achieve enhanced adversarial robustness while maintaining competitive accuracy compared to existing distillation methods. Our work highlights robust dataset distillation as a new and important research direction and provides a strong baseline for future research to bridge the gap between efficient training and adversarial robustness.

Interactive Multimodal Fusion with Temporal Modeling

This paper presents our method for the estimation of valence-arousal (VA) in the 8th Affective Behavior Analysis in-the-Wild (ABAW) competition. Our approach integrates visual and audio information through a multimodal framework. The visual branch uses a pre-trained ResNet model to extract spatial features from facial images. The audio branches employ pre-trained VGG models to extract VGGish and LogMel features from speech signals. These features undergo temporal modeling using Temporal Convolutional Networks (TCNs). We then apply cross-modal attention mechanisms, where visual features interact with audio features through query-key-value attention structures. Finally, the features are concatenated and passed through a regression layer to predict valence and arousal. Our method achieves competitive performance on the Aff-Wild2 dataset, demonstrating effective multimodal fusion for VA estimation in-the-wild.

Anomalous Meets Topological Hall Effect in Cr2Ge2Te6 Heterostructures

Introducing topologically protected skyrmions in graphene holds significant importance for developing high-speed, low-energy spintronic devices. Here, we present a centrosymmetric ferromagnetic graphene/trilayer Cr2Ge2Te6/graphene heterostructure, demonstrating the anomalous and topological Hall effect due to the magnetic proximity effect. Through gate voltage control, we effectively tune the emergence and size of skyrmions. Micromagnetic simulations reveal the formation of skyrmions and antiskyrmions, which respond differently to external magnetic fields, leading to oscillations in the topological Hall signal. Our findings provide a novel pathway for the formation and manipulation of skyrmions in centrosymmetric two-dimensional magnetic systems, offering significant insights for developing topological spintronics.

Analytic two-Loop four-point form factor of the stress-tensor supermultiplet in ${\cal N}=4$ SYM

We compute the two-loop four-point MHV form factor of the stress-tensor supermultiplet in planar ${\cal N}=4$ super Yang-Mills (SYM). This form factor is analogous to the Higgs plus four-gluon amplitudes in the heavy-top limit of QCD when translated to the ${\cal N}=4$ SYM context. We obtain the full $D$-dimensional integrands up to two loops via unitarity-cut methods. Subsequently, we utilize IBP reduction to express the result in terms of a set of uniformly transcendental basis integrals, incorporating the two-loop non-planar five-point one-mass integrals recently given by Abreu et al. [PRL 132 (2024) 14]. We obtain the two-loop finite remainder in the functional form in terms of the pentagon functions. The symbol of our remainder confirms the bootstrap results reported by Dixon et al. [PRL 130 (2023) 11]. We perform various non-trivial checks of our results, including the triple-collinear limit, which recovers the two-loop six-gluon remainder. We also show that the form factor has a directional dual conformal symmetry at the integrand level. Our results are expected to shed further light on the study of antipodal dualities and the computation of Higgs plus four-parton amplitudes in QCD.

Analytic Four-Point Lightlike Form Factors and OPE of Null-Wrapped Polygons

We obtain for the first time the analytic two-loop four-point MHV lightlike form factor of the stress-tensor supermultiplet in planar ${\cal N}=4$ SYM where the momentum $q$ carried by the operator is taken to be massless. Remarkably, we find that the two-loop result can be constrained uniquely by the infrared divergences and the collinear limits using the master-bootstrap method. Moreover, the remainder function depends only on three dual conformal invariant variables, which can be understood from a hidden dual conformal symmetry of the form factor arising in the lightlike limit of $q$. The symbol alphabet of the remainder contains only nine letters, which are closed under the action of the dihedral group $D_4$. Based on the dual description in terms of periodic Wilson lines (null-wrapped polygons), we also consider a new OPE picture for the lightlike form factors and introduce a new form factor transition that corresponds to the three-point lightlike form factor. With the form factor results up to two loops, we make some all-loop predictions using the OPE picture.

Lifts of Brauer characters in characteristic two, II

In 2007, J. P. Cossey conjectured that if $G$ is a finite $p$-solvable group and $φ$ is an irreducible Brauer character of $G$ with vertex $Q$, then the number of lifts of $φ$ is at most $|Q:Q'|$. In this paper we revisited Cossey's conjecture for $p=2$ from the perspective of Navarro vertices and obtained a new way to count the number of lifts of $φ$. Some applications were given.

A Label-Free High-Precision Residual Moveout Picking Method for Travel Time Tomography based on Deep Learning

Residual moveout (RMO) provides critical information for travel time tomography. The current industry-standard method for fitting RMO involves scanning high-order polynomial equations. However, this analytical approach does not accurately capture local saltation, leading to low iteration efficiency in tomographic inversion. Supervised learning-based image segmentation methods for picking can effectively capture local variations; however, they encounter challenges such as a scarcity of reliable training samples and the high complexity of post-processing. To address these issues, this study proposes a deep learning-based cascade picking method. It distinguishes accurate and robust RMOs using a segmentation network and a post-processing technique based on trend regression. Additionally, a data synthesis method is introduced, enabling the segmentation network to be trained on synthetic datasets for effective picking in field data. Furthermore, a set of metrics is proposed to quantify the quality of automatically picked RMOs. Experimental results based on both model and real data demonstrate that, compared to semblance-based methods, our approach achieves greater picking density and accuracy.

Search for Double Beta Decay of $^{136}$Xe to the $0^+_1$ Excited State of $^{136}$Ba with PandaX-4T

We perform a search of double beta decay of $^{136}$Xe to the excited state, $0^+_1$, of $^{136}$Ba (2$νββ$-0$_1^+$), using the dual-phase xenon detector of PandaX-4T with the first 94.9-day commissioning data. The multi-site events are reconstructed up to the MeV energy scale, which helps to improve the background model significantly. The background contribution from the stainless steel platform outside PandaX-4T cryostat is evaluated for the first time. No significant evidence for 2$νββ$-$0_1^+$ is observed, resulting in a lower limit on half-life of $7.5 \times 10^{22}$ yr at the 90% confidence level. This is the first experimental limit on such a rare decay in a natural xenon-based detector.

Beyond Existance: Fulfill 3D Reconstructed Scenes with Pseudo Details

The emergence of 3D Gaussian Splatting (3D-GS) has significantly advanced 3D reconstruction by providing high fidelity and fast training speeds across various scenarios. While recent efforts have mainly focused on improving model structures to compress data volume or reduce artifacts during zoom-in and zoom-out operations, they often overlook an underlying issue: training sampling deficiency. In zoomed-in views, Gaussian primitives can appear unregulated and distorted due to their dilation limitations and the insufficient availability of scale-specific training samples. Consequently, incorporating pseudo-details that ensure the completeness and alignment of the scene becomes essential. In this paper, we introduce a new training method that integrates diffusion models and multi-scale training using pseudo-ground-truth data. This approach not only notably mitigates the dilation and zoomed-in artifacts but also enriches reconstructed scenes with precise details out of existing scenarios. Our method achieves state-of-the-art performance across various benchmarks and extends the capabilities of 3D reconstruction beyond training datasets.

Search for MeV-Scale Axionlike Particles and Dark Photons with PandaX-4T

Axionlike particles (ALPs) and dark photons (DPs) are viable dark matter particle candidates. We have searched for possible ALP/DP signals in the PandaX-4T liquid xenon detector using 440 kg$\cdot$yr of data. A binned likelihood fit is constructed to search for possible mono-energetic peaks induced by the absorption processes between ALPs/DPs and atomic electrons of xenon. A detailed temporal model of decays associated with xenon isotopes is introduced to constrain the number of background events. No signal excess over background expectations is observed, and we have established the most stringent exclusion limits for most ALP/DP masses across the range of 150 keV/$c^2$ to 1 MeV/$c^2$. The improvement is particularly significant within the mass range of \text{150-400}~keV/$c^2$, with the average factor of 3.5 compared to previous results.

Bootstrap-GS: Self-Supervised Augmentation for High-Fidelity Gaussian Splatting

Recent advancements in 3D Gaussian Splatting (3D-GS) have established new benchmarks for rendering quality and efficiency in 3D reconstruction. However, 3D-GS faces critical limitations when generating novel views that significantly deviate from those encountered during training. Moreover, issues such as dilation and aliasing arise during zoom operations. These challenges stem from a fundamental issue: training sampling deficiency. In this paper, we introduce a bootstrapping framework to address this problem. Our approach synthesizes pseudo-ground truth from novel views that align with the limited training set and reintegrates these synthesized views into the training pipeline. Experimental results demonstrate that our bootstrapping technique not only reduces artifacts but also improves quantitative metrics. Furthermore, our technique is highly adaptable, allowing various Gaussian-based method to benefit from its integration.
