Inflationary Krylov complexity

In this work, we have systematically investigated the Krylov complexity of curvature perturbation for the modified dispersion relation in inflation, using the algorithm in closed system and open system. Our analysis could be applied to the most inflationary models. Following the Lanczos algorithm, we find the very early universe is an infinite, many-body, and maximal chaotic system. Our numerics shows that the Lanczos coefficient and Lyapunov index of the standard dispersion relation are mainly determined by the scale factor. As for the modified case, it is nearly determined by the momentum. In a method of the closed system, we discover that the Krylov complexity will show irregular oscillation before the horizon exits. The modified case will present faster growth after the horizon exists. Since the whole universe is an open system, the approach of an open system is more realistic and reliable. Then, we construct the exact wave function which is very robust only requiring the Lanczos coefficient proportional to $n$ (main quantum number). Based on it, we find the Krylov complexity and Krylov entropy could nicely recover in the case of a closed system under the weak dissipative approximation, in which our analysis shows that the evolution of Krylov complexity will not be the same with the original situation. We also find the inflationary period is a strong dissipative system. Meanwhile, our numerics clearly shows the Krylov complexity will grow during the whole inflationary period. But for the small scales, there will be a peak after the horizon exits. Our analysis reveals that the dramatic change in background (inflation) will significantly impact the evolution of Krylov complexity. Since the curvature perturbation will transit from the quantum level to the classical level.

Cosmological complexity of the modified dispersion relation

Complexity will be more and more essential in high-energy physics. It is naturally extended into the very early universe. Considering the universe as a quantum chaotic system, the curvature perturbation of the scalar field is identified with the two-mode squeezed state. By solving the Schr$\ddot{o}$dinger equation, one can obtain the numerical solutions of the angle parameter and squeezing parameter. The solution of the squeezing parameter mainly determines the evolution of complexity. Our numeric indicates that the complexity of the modified dispersion relation will have a non-linear pattern after the horizon exits. Meanwhile, its corresponding Lyapunov index is also larger compared with the standard case. During the inflationary period, the complexity will irregularly oscillate and its scrambling time is also shorter compared with the standard case. Since the modified dispersion relation can be dubbed as the consequences of various frameworks of quantum gravity, it could be applicable to these frameworks. Finally, one can expect the framework of quantum gravity will lead to the fruitful evolution of complexity, which guides us in distinguishing various inflationary models.

Can wormholes and black holes be distinguished by magnification?

The magnification effect of wormholes and black holes has been extensively researched. It is crucial to provide a finite distance analysis to understand this magnification phenomenon better. In this article, the rotational Simpson-Visser metric (RSV) is chosen as the focus of research. By calculating the deflection of light in RSV metric, we determine the resulting magnification effect, then applied the RSV metric to specific examples such as the Ellis-Bronnikov wormhole, Schwarzschild black hole, and Kerr black hole (or wormhole) to analyze the magnification. We find that Ellis-Bronnikov wormhole only has single magnification peaks, while Kerr black hole has one to three magnification peaks. In addition, the article's findings suggest that the lensing effect of the Central Black Hole of the Milky Way Galaxy exhibits magnification of multiple peaks. However, it should be noted that these effects are not observable from Earth.

Microlensing effects of wormholes associated to blackhole spacetimes

In this paper, we investigate the microlensing effects of wormholes associated to black hole spacetimes. Specifically, we work on three typical wormholes (WH): Schwarzschild WH, Kerr WH, and RN WH, as well as their blackhole correspondences. We evaluate the deflection angle upon the second order under weak field approximation using Gauss-Bonnet theorem. Then, we study their magnification with numerics. We find that a Kerr WH could lead to multi peaks in the magnification with certain parameters in the prograde case, while a Kerr BH predicts one peak. Therefore, the multi-peak feature of can be used to distinguish the Kerr WH from other compact objects. We also find that the magnification of RN BH will be one peak compared to RN WH, in which the magnification of RN WH is negative in some situations. For other cases, the behavior of magnification from wormholes and their corresponding blackholes is similar. Our result may shed new light on exploring compact objects through the microlensing effect.

Microlensing effect of charged spherically symmetric wormhole

We systematically investigate the microlensing effect of charged spherically symmetric wormhole, where the light source is remote from the throat. Remarkably, there will be at most three images by considering the charge part. We study all situations including three images, two images, and one image, respectively. The numerical result shows that the range of total magnification is from $10^5$ to $10^{-2}$ depending on various metrics. In the case of three images, there will be two maximal values of magnification (a peak, and a gentle peak) when the contribution via mass is much less than that of charge. However, we cannot distinguish the case that forms three images or only one image as the total magnification is of order $10^5$. Finally, our theoretical investigation could shed new light on exploring the wormhole with the microlensing effect.

The primordial black hole from running curvaton

In light of our previous work \cite{Liu:2019xhn}, we investigate the possibility of the formation of a primordial black hole in the second inflationary process induced by the oscillation of curvaton. By adopting the instability of the Mathieu equation, one could utilize the $δ$ function to fully describe the power spectrum. Due to the running of curvaton mass, we can simulate the value of abundance of primordial black holes nearly covering all of the mass ranges, in which we have given three special cases. One case could account for the dark matter in some sense since the abundance of a primordial black hole is about $75\%$. At late times, the relic of exponential potential could be approximated to a constant of the order of cosmological constant dubbed as a role of dark energy. Thus, our model could unify dark energy and dark matter from the perspective of phenomenology. Finally, it sheds new light on exploring Higgs physics.

Complexity of non-trivial sound speed in inflation

In this paper, we study the impact of non-trivial sound on the evolution of cosmological complexity in inflationary period. The vacuum state of curvature perturbation could be treated as squeezed states with two modes, characterized by the two most essential parameters: angle parameter $ϕ_k$ and squeezing parameter $r_k$. Through $Schr\ddot{o}dinger$ equation, one can obtain the corresponding evolution equation of $ϕ_k$ and $r_k$. Subsequently, the quantum circuit complexity between a squeezed vacuum state and squeezed states are evaluated in scalar curvature perturbation with a type of non-trivial sound speed. Our results reveal that the evolution of complexity at early times shows the rapid solution comparing with $c_S=1$, in which we implement the resonant sound speed with various values of $ξ$. In these cases, it shows that the scrambling time will be lagged with non-vanishing $ξ$. Further, our methodology sheds a new way of distinguishing various cosmological models.

Non-minimally coupled curvaton

We investigate two-field inflationary models in which scalar cosmological pertubations are generated via a spectator field nonminimally coupled to gravity, with the particular emphasis on curvaton scenarios. The principal advantage of these models is in the possibility to tune the spectator spectral index via the nonminimal coupling. Our models naturally yield red spectrum of the adiabatic perturbation demanded by observations. We study how the nonminimal coupling affects the spectrum of the curvature perturbation generated in the curvaton scenarios. In particular we find that for small, negative nonminimal couplings the spectral index gets a contribution that is negative and linear in the nonminimal coupling. Since in this way the curvature spectrum becomes redder, some of curvaton scenarios can be saved, which would otherwise be ruled out. In the power law inflation we find that a large nonminimal coupling is excluded since it gives the principal slow roll parameter that is of the order of unity. Finally, we point out that nonminimal coupling can affect the postinflationary growth of the spectator perturbation, and in this way the effectiveness of the curvaton mechanism.

Cosmological Complexity in K-essence

We calculate the cosmological complexity under the framework of scalar curvature perturbations for a K-essence model with constant potential. In particular, the squeezed quantum states are defined by acting a two-mode squeezed operator which is characterized by squeezing parameters $r_k$ and $ϕ_k$ on vacuum state. The evolution of these squeezing parameters are governed by the $Schr\ddot{o}dinger$ equation, in which the Hamiltonian operator is derived from the cosmological perturbative action. With aid of the solutions of $r_k$ and $ϕ_k$, one can calculate the quantum circuit complexity between unsqueezed vacuum state and squeezed quantum states via the wave-function approach. One advantage of K-essence is that it allows us to explore the effects of varied sound speeds on evolution of cosmological complexity. Besides, this model also provides a way for us to distinguish the different cosmological phases by extracting some basic informations, like the scrambling time and Lyapunov exponent etc, from the evolution of cosmological complexity.

Revised $f_{\rm NL}$ parameter in Curvaton Scenario

We revise the Non-Gaussianity of canonical curvaton scenario with a generalized $δN$ formalism, in which it could handle the generic potentials. In various curvaton models, the energy density is dominant in different period including the secondary inflation of curvaton, matter domination and radiation domination. Our method could unify to deal with these periods since the non-linearity parameter $f_{\rm NL}$ associated with Non-Gaussianity is a function of equation of state $w$. We firstly investigate the most simple curvaton scenario, namely the chaotic curvaton with quadratic potential. Our study shows that most parameter space satisfies with observational constraints. And our formula will nicely recover the well-known value of $f_{\rm NL}$ in the absence of non-linear evolution. From the micro origin of curvaton, we also investigate the Pseudo-Nambu-Goldstone curvaton. Our result clearly indicates that the second short inflationary process for Pseudo-Nambu-Goldstone curvaton is ruled out in light of observations. Finally, our method sheds a new way for investigating the Non-Gaussianity of curvaton mechanism, espeically for exploring the Non-Gaussianity in MSSM curvaton model.

The running curvaton

Inspired by \cite{Jiang:2018uce}, we propose a similar curvaton mechanism whose realization occurs in preheating process, in which the effective mass is running (its potential consists of coupling part and exponential part whose contribution is subdominant comparing to the coupling part). The production of curvaton contains the cases of narrow resonance and broad resonances whose criteria comes via the spectral index of curvaton. Since the inflationary potential is chaotic inflation (quadratic potential), it could smoothly transit into the preheating process. Once the entropy perturbation transferred into curvature perturbation, we will use $δN$ formalism to investigate its validity. By neglecting the contribution of exponential potential of curvaton, we calculate power spectrum $P_ζ$ and non linear Non-Gaussian parameter $f_{NL}$. Our calculation analytically shows that these two observables are independent of potential of inflaton. Finally, as the curvaton almost decay (inflaton field vanishes), the exponential potential will be approaching a constant of order of cosmological constant, which may play a role of dark energy.

Analysis of $R^p$ inflationary model as $p\geqslant 2$

We study the $R^p$ inflationary model of [Muller:1989rp] for $p>2$ using the result of Ref. [Motohashi:2014tra]. After reproducing the observable quantities: the power spectral index $n_s$, its corresponding running $α=\frac{dn_s}{d\ln(k)}$ and the tensor to scalar ration $r$ in terms of e-folding number $N$ and $p$, we show that $R^p$ inflation model is still alive as $p$ is from $2$ to $2.02$. In this range, our calculation confirms that $n_s$ and $r$ agree with observations and $α$ is of order $10^{-4}$ which needs more precise observational constraints. We find that, as the value of $p$ increases, all $n_s$, $r$ and $|α|$ decrease. However, the precise interdependence between these observables is such that this class of models can in principle be tested by the next generation of dedicated satellite CMB probes.

Inflation in an effective gravitational model & asymptotic safety

We consider an inflationary model motivated by quantum effects of gravitational and matter fields near the Planck scale. Our Lagrangian is a re-summed version of the effective Lagrangian recently obtained by Demmel, Saueressig and Zanusso~\cite{Demmel:2015oqa} in the context of gravity as an asymptotically safe theory. It represents a refined Starobinsky model, ${\cal L}_{\rm eff}=M_{\rm P}^2 R/2 + (a/2)R^2/[1+b\ln(R/μ^2)]$, where $R$ is the Ricci scalar, $a$ and $b$ are constants and $μ$ is an energy scale. By implementing the COBE normalisation and the Planck constraint on the scalar spectrum, we show that increasing $b$ leads to an increased value of both the scalar spectral index $n_s$ and the tensor-to-scalar ratio $r$. Requiring $n_s$ to be consistent with the Planck collaboration upper limit, we find that $r$ can be as large as $r\simeq 0.01$, the value possibly measurable by Stage IV CMB ground experiments and certainly from future dedicated space missions. The predicted running of the scalar spectral index $α=d n_s/d\ln(k)$ is still of the order $-5\times 10^{-4}$ (as in the Starobinsky model), about one order of magnitude smaller than the current observational bound.

Gravitational microlensing in Verlinde's emergent gravity

We propose gravitational microlensing as a way of testing the emergent gravity theory recently proposed by Eric Verlinde~\cite{Verlinde:2016toy}. We consider two limiting cases: the dark mass of maximally anisotropic pressures (Case I) and of isotropic pressures (Case II). Our analysis of perihelion advancement of a planet shows that only Case I yields a viable theory. In this case the metric outside a star of mass $M_*$ can be modeled by that of a point-like global monopole whose mass is $M_*$ and a deficit angle $Δ= \sqrt{(2GH_0M_*)/(3c^3)}$, where $H_0$ is the Hubble rate and $G$ the Newton constant. This deficit angle can be used to test the theory since light exhibits additional bending around stars given by, $α_D\approx -πΔ/2$. This angle is independent on the distance from the star and it affects equally light and massive particles. The effect is too small to be measurable today, but should be within reach of the next generation of high resolution telescopes. Finally we note that the advancement of periastron of a planet orbiting around a star or black hole, which equals $πΔ$ per period, can be also used to test the theory.

Charm-strange baryon strong decays in a chiral quark model

The strong decays of charm-strange baryons up to N=2 shell are studied in a chiral quark model. The theoretical predictions for the well determined charm-strange baryons, $Ξ_c^*(2645)$, $Ξ_c(2790)$ and $Ξ_c(2815)$, are in good agreement with the experimental data. This model is also extended to analyze the strong decays of the other newly observed charm-strange baryons $Ξ_c(2930)$, $Ξ_c(2980)$, $Ξ_c(3055)$, $Ξ_c(3080)$ and $Ξ_c(3123)$. Our predictions are given as follows. (i) $Ξ_c(2930)$ might be the first $P$-wave excitation of $Ξ_c'$ with $J^P=1/2^-$, favors the $|Ξ_c'\ ^2P_λ1/2^->$ or $|Ξ_c'\ ^4P_λ1/2^->$ state. (ii) $Ξ_c(2980)$ might correspond to two overlapping $P$-wave states $|Ξ_c'\ ^2P_ρ1/2^->$ and $|Ξ_c'\ ^2P_ρ3/2^->$, respectively. The $Ξ_c(2980)$ observed in the $Λ_c^+\bar{K}π$ final state is most likely to be the $|Ξ_c'\ ^2P_ρ1/2^->$ state, while the narrower resonance with a mass $m\simeq 2.97$ GeV observed in the $Ξ_c^*(2645)π$ channel favors to be assigned to the $|Ξ_c'\ ^2P_ρ3/2^->$ state. (iii) $Ξ_c(3080)$ favors to be classified as the $|Ξ_c\ S_{ρρ} 1/2^+>$ state, i.e., the first radial excitation (2S) of $Ξ_c$. (iv) $Ξ_c(3055)$ is most likely to be the first $D$-wave excitation of $Ξ_c$ with $J^P=3/2^+$, favors the $|Ξ_c\ ^2D_{λλ} 3/2^+>$ state. (v) $Ξ_c(3123)$ might be assigned to the $|Ξ_c'\ ^4D_{λλ} 3/2^+>$, $|Ξ_c'\ ^4D_{λλ} 5/2^+>$, or $|Ξ_c\ ^2D_{ρρ} 5/2^+>$ state. As a by-product, we calculate the strong decays of the bottom baryons $Σ_b^{\pm}$, $Σ_b^{*\pm}$ and $Ξ_b^*$, which are in good agreement with the recent observations as well.
