Calderon inverse Problem for the Schrodinger Operator on Riemann Surfaces

On a fixed smooth compact Riemann surface with boundary $(M_0,g)$, we show that the Cauchy data space (or Dirichlet-to-Neumann map $\mc{N}$) of the Schrödinger operator $Δ+V$ with $V\in C^2(M_0)$ determines uniquely the potential $V$. We also discuss briefly the corresponding consequences for potential scattering at 0 frequency on Riemann surfaces with asymptotically Euclidean or asymptotically hyperbolic ends.

Inverse problems with partial data for a Dirac system: a Carleman estimate approach

We prove that the material parameters in a Dirac system with magnetic and electric potentials are uniquely determined by measurements made on a possibly small subset of the boundary. The proof is based on a combination of Carleman estimates for first and second order systems, and involves a reduction of the boundary measurements to the second order case. For this reduction a certain amount of decoupling is required. To effectively make use of the decoupling, the Carleman estimates are established for coefficients which may become singular in the asymptotic limit.

Carleman estimates and inverse problems for Dirac operators

We consider limiting Carleman weights for Dirac operators and prove corresponding Carleman estimates. In particular, we show that limiting Carleman weights for the Laplacian also serve as limiting weights for Dirac operators. As an application we consider the inverse problem of recovering a Lipschitz continuous magnetic field and electric potential from boundary measurements for the Pauli Dirac operator.

Stability Estimates for Coefficients of Magnetic Schrödinger Equation From Full and Partial Boundary Measurements

In this paper we establish a $log log$-type estimate which shows that in dimension $n\geq 3$ the magnetic field and the electric potential of the magnetic Schrödinger equation depends stably on the Dirichlet to Neumann (DN) map even when the boundary measurement is taken only on a subset that is slightly larger than half of the boundary $\partialΩ$. Furthermore, we prove that in the case when the measurement is taken on all of $\partialΩ$ one can establish a better estimate that is of $log$-type. The proofs involve the use of the complex geometric optics (CGO) solutions of the magnetic Schrödinger equation constructed in \cite{sun uhlmann} then follow a similar line of argument as in \cite{alessandrini}. In the partial data estimate we follow the general strategy of \cite{hw} by using the Carleman estimate established in \cite{FKSU} and a continuous dependence result for analytic continuation developed in \cite{vessella}.

Iterations of anti-selfdual Lagrangians and applications to Hamiltonian systems and multiparameter gradient flows

Anti-selfdual Lagrangians on a state space lift to path space provided one adds a suitable selfdual boundary Lagrangian. This process can be iterated by considering the path space as a new state space for the newly obtained anti-selfdual Lagrangian. We give here two applications for these remarkable permanence properties. In the first, we establish for certain convex-concave Hamiltonians ${\cal H}$ on a --possibly infinite dimensional--symplectic space $H^2$, the existence of a solution for the Hamiltonian system $-J\dot u (t)=\partial {\cal H} (u(t))$ that connects in a given time T>0, two Lagrangian submanifolds. Another application deals with the construction of a multiparameter gradient flow for a convex potential. Our methods are based on the new variational calculus for anti-selfdual Lagrangians developed in [4], [5] and [7].

Anti-selfdual Lagrangians II: Unbounded non self-adjoint operators and evolution equations

This paper is a continuation of [13], where new variational principles were introduced based on the concept of anti-selfdual (ASD) Lagrangians. We continue here the program of using these Lagrangians to provide variational formulations and resolutions to various basic equations and evolutions which do not normally fit in the Euler-Lagrange framework. In particular, we consider stationary equations of the form $ -Au\in \partial ϕ(u)$ as well as i dissipative evolutions of the form $-\dot{u}(t)-A_t u(t)+ωu(t) \in \partial ϕ(t, u(t))$ were $ϕ$ is a convex potential on an infinite dimensional space. In this paper, the emphasis is on the cases where the differential operators involved are not necessarily bounded, hence completing the results established in [13] for bounded linear operators. Our main applications deal with various nonlinear boundary value problems and parabolic initial value equations governed by the transport operator with or without a diffusion term.
