Fusion modules and amenability of coideals of compact and discrete quantum groups

We give a definition of an amenable fusion module over a fusion algebra. A notion of relative integrability for the `coduals' of coideals of compact quantum groups was recently introduced in the joint work of de Commer and Dzokou Talla. We use this property to construct an analogue of the quasi-regular representation. Then, we characterize a certain coamenability property of quasi-regular representations with amenability of their associated fusion modules. Afterwards, we obtain a duality result that generalizes Tomatsu's theorem for this coamenability property and an amenability property of their `codual' coideals (under an additional assumption). As an example, we apply this result to show the fusion modules associated to certain non-standard Podle\'s spheres are amenable.

Yetter-Drinfel'd algebras and coideals of Weak Hopf $C^*$-Algebras

We characterize braided commutative Yetter-Drinfeld $C^*$-algebras over weak Hopf $C^*$-algebras in categorical terms. Using this, we then study quotient type coideal subalgebras of a given weak Hopf $C^*$-algebra $\mathcal G$ and coideal subalgebras invariant with respect to the adjoint action of $\mathcal G$. Finally, as an example, we explicitly describe quotient type coideal subalgebras of the weak Hopf $C^*$-algebras associated with Tambara-Yamagami categories.

Classifying (Weak) Coideal Subalgebras of Weak Hopf C*-Algebras

We develop a general approach to the problem of classification of weak coideal C*-subalgebras of weak Hopf C*-algebras. As an example, we consider weak Hopf C*-algebras and their weak coideal C*-subalgebras associated with Tambara Yamagami categories.

The Tambara-Yamagami categories and 3-manifold invariants

We prove that if two Tambara-Yamagami categories TY(A,χ,ν) and TY(A',χ',ν') give rise to the same state sum invariants of 3-manifolds and the order of one of the groups A, A' is odd, then ν=ν' and there is a group isomorphism A\approx A' carrying χto χ'. The proof is based on an explicit computation of the state sum invariants for the lens spaces of type (k,1).

A locally compact quantum group of triangular matrices

We construct a one parameter deformation of the group of $2\times 2$ upper triangular matrices with determinant 1 using the twisting construction. An interesting feature of this new example of a locally compact quantum group is that the Haar measure is deformed in a non-trivial way. Also, we give a complete description of the dual $\cs$-algebra and the dual comultiplication.

Twisting and Rieffel's deformation of locally compact quantum groups. Deformation of the Haar measure

We develop the twisting construction for locally compact quantum groups. A new feature, in contrast to the previous work of M. Enock and the second author, is a non-trivial deformation of the Haar measure. Then we construct Rieffel's deformation of locally compact quantum groups and show that it is dual to the twisting. This allows to give new interesting concrete examples of locally compact quantum groups, in particular, deformations of the classical $az+b$ group and of the Woronowicz' quantum $az+b$ group.

On Low-Dimensional Locally Compact Quantum Groups

Continuing our research on extensions of locally compact quantum groups, we give a classification of all cocycle matched pairs of Lie algebras in small dimensions and prove that all of them can be exponentiated to cocycle matched pairs of Lie groups. Hence, all of them give rise to locally compact quantum groups by the cocycle bicrossed product construction. We also clarify the notion of an extension of locally compact quantum groups by relating it to the concept of a closed normal quantum subgroup and the quotient construction. Finally, we describe the infinitesimal objects of locally compact quantum quantum groups with 2 and 3 generators - Hopf *-algebras and Lie bialgebras.

Extensions of locally compact quantum groups and the bicrossed product construction

In the framework of locally compact quantum groups, we study cocycle actions. We develop the cocycle bicrossed product construction, starting from a matched pair of locally compact quantum groups. We define exact sequences and establish a one-to-one correspondence between cocycle bicrossed products and cleft extensions. In this way, we obtain new examples of locally compact quantum groups.

Finite Quantum Groupoids and Their Applications

We give a survey of the theory of finite quantum groupoids (weak Hopf algebras), including foundations of the theory and applications to finite depth subfactors, dynamical deformations of quantum groups, and invariants of knots and 3-manifolds.

A Galois correspondence for II_1 factors and quantum groupoids

We establish a Galois correspondence for finite quantum groupoid actions on II_1 factors and show that every finite index and finite depth subfactor is an intermediate subalgebra of a quantum groupoid crossed product. Moreover, any such a subfactor is completely and canonically determined by a quantum groupoid and its coideal *-subalgebra. This allows to express the bimodule category of a subfactor in terms of the representation category of a corresponding quantum groupoid and the principal graph as the Bratteli diagram of an inclusion of certain C^*-algebras related to it.
