On adding a variable to a Frobenius manifold and generalizations

Let π: V \rightarrow M be a (real or holomorphic) vector bundle whose base has an almost Frobenius structure (\circ_{M},e_{M}, g_{M}) and typical fiber has the structure of a Frobenius algebra (\circ_{V},e_{V},g_{V}). Using a connection D on the bundle V and a morphism α: V \rightarrow TM, we construct an almost Frobenius structure (\circ,e_{V},g) on the manifold V and we study when it is Frobenius. We describe all (real) positive-definite Frobenius structures on V, obtained in this way, when M is a semisimple Frobenius manifold with non-vanishing rotation coefficients. In the holomorphic setting we add a real structure k_{M} on M and a real structure k_{V} on the fibers of πand we study when an induced real structure on the manifold V, together with the almost Frobenius structure (\circ, e_{V}, g), satisfy the tt*-equations. Along the way, we prove various properties of adding variables to a Frobenius manifold, in connection with Legendre transformations and tt*-geometry.

Invariant generalized complex structures on Lie groups

We describe a class (called regular) of invariant generalized complex structures on a real semisimple Lie group G. The problem reduces to the description of admissible pairs (\gk, ω), where \gk is an appropriate regular subalgebra of the complex Lie algebra \gg^{C} associated to G and ωis a closed 2-form on \gk, such that a non-degeneracy condition holds. In the case when G is a semisimple Lie group of inner type (in particular, when G is compact) a classification of regular generalized complex structures on G is given. We show that any invariant generalized complex structure on a compact semisimple Lie group G is regular, provided that an additional natural condition holds. In the case when G is a semisimple Lie group of outer type, we describe the subalgebras \gk in terms of appropriate root subsystems of a root system of \gg^{C} and we construct a large class of admissible pairs (\gk ,ω) (hence, regular generalized complex structures on G).

A prolongation of the conformal-Killing operator on quaternionic-Kahler manifolds

A 2-form on a quaternionic-Kahler manifold (M, g) is called compatible (with the quaternionic structure) if it is a section of the direct sum bundle S^2(H) \oplus S^2(E). We construct a connection D on S^2(H) \oplus S^2(E)\oplus TM, which is a prolongation of the conformal-Killing operator acting on compatible 2-forms. We show that D is flat if and only if the quaternionic-Weyl tensor of (M,g) is zero. Consequences of this result are developed. We construct a skew-symmetric multiplication on the space of conformal-Killing 2-forms on (M,g) and we study its properties in connection with the subspace of compatible conformal-Killing 2-forms.

The conformal-Killing equation on G2 and Spin7 structures

Let M be a 7-manifold with a G2-structure defined by ϕ\inΩ^{3}_{+}(M). We prove that ϕ is conformal-Killing with respect to the associated metric g(ϕ) if and only if the G2-structure is nearly parallel. Let M be an 8-manifold with a Spin7-structure defined by ψ\inΩ^{4}_{+}(M). We prove that ψ is conformal-Killing with respect to the associated metric g(ψ) if and only if the Spin7-structure is parallel.

Dubrovin's duality for $F$-manifolds with eventual identities

A vector field E on an F-manifold (M, o, e) is an eventual identity if it is invertible and the multiplication X*Y := X o Y o E^{-1} defines a new F-manifold structure on M. We give a characterization of such eventual identities, this being a problem raised by Manin. We develop a duality between F-manifolds with eventual identities and we show that is compatible with the local irreducible decomposition of F-manifolds and preserves the class of Riemannian F-manifolds. We find necessary and sufficient conditions on the eventual identity which insure that harmonic Higgs bundles and DChk-structures are preserved by our duality. We use eventual identities to construct compatible pair of metrics.

Quaternionic connections, induced holomorphic structures and a vanishing theorem

We classify the holomorphic structures of the tangent vertical bundle T of the twistor fibration of a quaternionic manifold (M,Q) of dimension bigger than four. In particular, we show that any self-dual quaternionic connection on (M, Q) induces an holomorphic structure on T. We prove that the positive tensor powers of T have no global holomorphic sections, when (M,Q) is compact and admits a compatible quaternionic-Kahler metric of negative (respectively, zero) scalar curvature and the holomorphic structure of T is induced by a closed (respectively, closed but not exact) quaternionic connection.

About the geometry of almost para-quaternionic manifolds

We provide a general criteria for the integrability of the almost para-quaternionic structure of an almost para-quaternionic manifold (M,P) of dimension bigger or equal to eight, in terms of the integrability of two or three sections of the defining rank three vector bundle P. We relate it with the integrability of the canonical almost complex structure of the twistor space and to the integrability of the canonical almost para-complex structure of the reflector space of (M,P). We show that (M, P) has plenty of locally defined, compatible, complex and para-complex structures, provided that P is para-quaternionic.

The Bochner-flat cone of a CR manifold

We construct a Kahler structure (which we call a generalised Kahler cone) on an open subset of the cone of a strongly pseudo-convex CR manifold endowed with a 1-parameter family of compatible Sasaki structures. We determine those generalised Kahler cones which are Bochner-flat and we study their local geometry. We prove that any Bochner-flat Kahler manifold of complex dimension bigger than two is locally isomorphic to a generalised Kahler cone.

Sasaki--Weyl connections on CR manifolds

We introduce and study the notion of Sasaki--Weyl manifold, which is a natural generalization of the notion of Sasaki manifold. We construct a reduction of Sasaki--Weyl manifolds and we show that it commutes with several reductions already existing in the literature.

Conformally flat pencils of metrics, Frobenius structures and a modified Saito construction

The structure of a Frobenius manifold encodes the geometry associated with a flat pencil of metrics. However, as shown in the authors' earlier work, much of the structure comes from the compatibility properties of the pencil rather than from the flatness of the pencil itself. In this paper conformally flat pencils of metrics are studied and examples, based on a modification of the Saito construction, are studied.

Compatible metrics on a manifold and non-local bi-Hamiltonian structures

Given a flat metric one may generate a local Hamiltonian structure via the fundamental result of Dubrovin and Novikov. More generally, a flat pencil of metrics will generate a local bi-Hamiltonian structure, and with additional quasi-homogeneity conditions one obtains the structure of a Frobenius manifold. With appropriate curvature conditions one may define a curved pencil of compatible metrics and these give rise to an associated non-local bi-Hamiltonian structure. Specific examples include the F-manifolds of Hertling and Manin equipped with an invariant metric. In this paper the geometry supporting such compatible metrics is studied and interpreted in terms of a multiplication on the cotangent bundle. With additional quasi-homogeneity assumptions one arrives at a so-called weak $\F$-manifold - a curved version of a Frobenius manifold (which is not, in general, an F-manifold). A submanifold theory is also developed.

The Penrose transform for compactly supported cohomology

We present a version of the Penrose transform which relates compactly supported cohomology on a complex or CR manifold Z to kernels and cokernels of differential operators on a parameter space X of compact complex submanifolds of Z.
