Kinetic-Mamba: Mamba-Assisted Predictions of Stiff Chemical Kinetics

Accurate chemical kinetics modeling is essential for combustion simulations, as it governs the evolution of complex reaction pathways and thermochemical states. In this work, we introduce Kinetic-Mamba, a Mamba-based neural operator framework that integrates the expressive power of neural operators with the efficient temporal modeling capabilities of Mamba architectures. The framework comprises three complementary models: (i) a standalone Mamba model that predicts the time evolution of thermochemical state variables from given initial conditions; (ii) a constrained Mamba model that enforces mass conservation while learning the state dynamics; and (iii) a regime-informed architecture employing two standalone Mamba models to capture dynamics across temperature-dependent regimes. We additionally develop a latent Kinetic-Mamba variant that evolves dynamics in a reduced latent space and reconstructs the full state on the physical manifold. The accuracy and robustness of Kinetic-Mamba was evaluated using both time-decomposition and recursive-prediction strategies. We further assess the extrapolation capabilities of the model on varied out-of-distribution datasets. Computational experiments on Syngas and GRI-Mech 3.0 reaction mechanisms demonstrate that our framework achieves high fidelity in predicting complex kinetic behavior using only the initial conditions of the state variables.

Adding a Storage Pool improves 3-PG Tree-ring Simulations

Tree rings provide long-term records of tree growth and climate changes, which makes them ideal benchmarks for forest modeling. Tree-ring information has greatly improved the reliability of 3-PG, which is one of the most commonly used process-based forest growth models. Here we strengthen 3-PGs ability to simulate tree-ring width and carbon stable isotopes ({\delta}13C) by enhancing its descriptions of tree physiology. The major upgrade was adding a carbon storage pool for tree-ring formation using stored carbohydrates. We also incorporated previous modifications (replacing the age modifier with a height modifier) of 3-PG and tested their efficacy in improving tree-ring simulations. We ran the model based on two grand fir (Abies grandis) stands. The updated model greatly improved the simulations for both tree-ring widths and {\delta}13C. The results represent one of the best tree-ring {\delta}13C simulations, which accurately captured the amplitude in annual variations of {\delta}13C. The correlations (R2) between simulations and observations reached 0.50 and 0.73 at two stands respectively. The new model also greatly improved the simulations of raw tree-ring widths and detrended ring-widths index. Because of better descriptions of tree physiology and more accurate simulations of tree rings than the previous model version, the updated 3-PG should provide more reliable simulations than previous 3-PG versions when tree-ring information is used as benchmark in future studies.

Recommender Systems for Software Project Managers

The design of recommendation systems is based on complex information processing and big data interaction. This personalized view has evolved into a hot area in the past decade, where applications might have been proved to help for solving problem in the software development field. Therefore, with the evolvement of Recommendation System in Software Engineering (RSSE), the coordination of software projects with their stakeholders is improving. This experiment examines four open source recommender systems and implemented a customized recommender engine with two industrial-oriented packages: Lenskit and Mahout. Each of the main functions was examined and issues were identified during the experiment.

A Fourier-Chebyshev Spectral Method for Cavitation Computation in Nonlinear Elasticity

A Fourier-Chebyshev spectral method is proposed in this paper for solving the cavitation problem in nonlinear elasticity. The interpolation error for the cavitation solution is analyzed, the elastic energy error estimate for the discrete cavitation solution is obtained, and the convergence of the method is proved. An algorithm combined a gradient type method with a damped quasi-Newton method is applied to solve the discretized nonlinear equilibrium equations. Numerical experiments show that the Fourier-Chebyshev spectral method is efficient and capable of producing accurate numerical cavitation solutions.
