Mixed-Parabolicity and Mixed-Liouville Property for Products of Riemannian Manifolds

Let $p_1,p_2\in(1,\infty)$ and $M=M_1\times M_2$ be the product of two geodesically complete Riemannian manifolds. In this paper, the authors first develop an anisotropic potential-theoretic framework adapted to the Green operator $G^M$ and the mixed-norm Lebesgue space $L^{p_2}(L^{p_1})(M)$, and then demonstrate that the classical equivalence among \emph{parabolicity}, \emph{Green function integrability}, and \emph{Liouville property} persists in this genuinely anisotropic setting. More precisely, the authors establish the following equivalence: $M$ is $L^{p_2}(L^{p_1})$-parabolic if and only if the Green function $G^M(x;\,\cdot\,)$ fails to belong to $L^{p_2'}(L^{p_1'})(M \setminus B(x,\,r))$, which is in turn equivalent to the $L^{p_2'}(L^{p_1'})$-Liouville property, where $p_i'$ denotes the conjugate exponent of $p_i$. Under a weak radial Harnack-type inequality -- in particular, under Li--Yau heat kernel estimates, and hence for products of manifolds with nonnegative Ricci curvature -- these conditions are further equivalent to the divergence of the nonlinear mixed-potential $\mathcal{G}_{p_1,p_2}(f)$ for every nonzero nonnegative $f\in {\mathcal C}_c^\infty(M)$. A key feature of this anisotropic theory is its sensitivity to the geometry of each factor \(M_i\), rather than merely to that of the total manifold \(M\). In contrast to the isotropic case, where parabolicity and the classical Liouville property holds on \(\mathbb{R}^n\) precisely when \(n \le 2\), the anisotropic setting exhibits a refined threshold: the \(L^{p_2}(L^{p_1})\)-parabolicity and the \(L^{p_2'}(L^{p_1'})\)-Liouville property holds on \(\mathbb{R}^{n_1} \times \mathbb{R}^{n_2}\) if and only if $ D_{\mathrm{eff}} := \frac{n_1}{p_1} + \frac{n_2}{p_2} \le 2. $ This effective dimension $D_{\mathrm{eff}}$ captures the anisotropic interplay between the exponents \(p_1, p_2\) and the geometries of \(M_1, M_2\).

Nontrivial nonnegative weak solutions to fractional $p$-Laplace inequalities

For the nonlocal quasilinear fractional $p$-Laplace operator $(-Δ)^s_p$ with $s\in (0,1)$ and $p\in(1,\infty)$, we investigate the nonexistence and existence of nontrivial nonnegative solutions $u$ in the local fractional Sobolev space $W_{\rm loc}^{s,p}(\mathbb R^n)$ that satisfies the inequality $(-Δ)^s_p u\ge u^q$ weakly in $\mathbb R^n$, where $q\in(0,\infty)$. The approach taken in this paper is mainly based on some delicate analysis of the fundamental solutions to the fractional $p$-Laplace operator $(-Δ)^s_p$.

Functional Calculus on BMO-type Spaces of Bourgain, Brezis and Mironescu

A nonlinear superposition operator $T_g$ related to a Borel measurable function $g:\ {\mathbb C}\to {\mathbb C}$ is defined via $T_g(f):=g\circ f$ for any complex-valued function $f$ on ${\mathbb R^n}$. This article is devoted to investigating the mapping properties of $T_g$ on a new BMO type space recently introduced by Bourgain, Brezis and Mironescu [J. Eur. Math. Soc. (JEMS) 17 (2015), 2083-2101], as well as its VMO and CMO type subspaces. Some sufficient and necessary conditions for the inclusion result and the continuity property of $T_g$ on these spaces are obtained.

Intrinsic nature of the Stein-Weiss $H^1$-inequality

This paper explores the intrinsic nature of the celebrated Stein-Weiss $H^1$-inequality $$ \|I_s u\|_{L^\frac{n}{n-s}}\lesssim \|u\|_{L^1}+\|\vec{R}u\|_{L^{1}}=\|u\|_{H^1} $$ through the tracing and duality laws based on Riesz's singular integral operator $I_s$. We discover that $f\in I_s\big([\mathring{H}^{s,1}_{-}]^\ast\big)$ if and only if $\exists\ \vec{g}=(g_1,...,g_n)\in \big(L^\infty\big)^n$ such that $f=\vec{R}\cdot\vec{g}=\sum_{j=1}^n R_jg_j$ in $\mathrm{BMO}$ (the John-Nirenberg space introduced in their 1961 {\it Comm. Pure Appl. Math.} paper \cite{JN}) where $\vec{R}=(R_1,...,R_n)$ is the vector-valued Riesz transform - this characterizes the Riesz transform part $\vec{R}\cdot\big(L^\infty\big)^n$ of Fefferman-Stein's decomposition (established in their 1972 {\it Acta Math} paper \cite{FS}) for $\mathrm{BMO}=L^\infty+\vec{R}\cdot\big(L^\infty\big)^n$ and yet indicates that $I_s\big([\mathring{H}^{s,1}_-]^\ast\big)$ is indeed a solution to Bourgain-Brezis' problem under $n\ge 2$: ``What are the function spaces $X, W^{1,n}\subset X\subset \mathrm{BMO}$, such that every $F\in X$ has a decomposition $F=\sum_{j=1}^n R_j Y_j$ where $Y_j\in L^\infty$?" (posed in their 2003 {\it J. Amer. Math. Soc.} paper \cite{BB}).

New Calderón Reproducing Formulae with Exponential Decay on Spaces of Homogeneous Type

Assume that $(X, d, μ)$ is a space of homogeneous type in the sense of Coifman and Weiss. In this article, motivated by the breakthrough work of P. Auscher and T. Hytönen on orthonormal bases of regular wavelets on spaces of homogeneous type, the authors introduce a new kind of approximations of the identity with exponential decay (for short, $\exp$-ATI). Via such an $\exp$-ATI, motivated by another creative idea of Y. Han et al. to merge the aforementioned orthonormal bases of regular wavelets into the frame of the existed distributional theory on spaces of homogeneous type, the authors establish the homogeneous continuous/discrete Calderón reproducing formulae on $(X, d, μ)$, as well as their inhomogeneous counterparts. The novelty of this article exists in that $d$ is only assumed to be a quasi-metric and the underlying measure $μ$ a doubling measure, not necessary to satisfy the reverse doubling condition. It is well known that Calderón reproducing formulae are the cornerstone to develop analysis and, especially, harmonic analysis on spaces of homogeneous type.

A Complete Real-Variable Theory of Hardy Spaces on Spaces of Homogeneous Type

Let $(X,d,μ)$ be a space of homogeneous type, with the upper dimension $ω$, in the sense of R. R. Coifman and G. Weiss. Assume that $η$ is the smoothness index of the wavelets on $X$ constructed by P. Auscher and T. Hytönen. In this article, when $p\in(ω/(ω+η),1]$, for the atomic Hardy spaces $H_{\mathrm{cw}}^p(X)$ introduced by Coifman and Weiss, the authors establish their various real-variable characterizations, respectively, in terms of the grand maximal function, the radial maximal function, the non-tangential maximal functions, the various Littlewood-Paley functions and wavelet functions. This completely answers the question of R. R. Coifman and G. Weiss by showing that no any additional (geometrical) condition is necessary to guarantee the radial maximal function characterization of $H_{\mathrm{cw}}^1(X)$ and even of $H_{\mathrm{cw}}^p(X)$ with $p$ as above. As applications, the authors obtain the finite atomic characterizations of $H^p_{\mathrm{cw}}(X)$, which further induce some criteria for the boundedness of sublinear operators on $H^p_{\mathrm{cw}}(X)$. Compared with the known results, the novelty of this article is that $μ$ is not assumed to satisfy the reverse doubling condition and $d$ is only a quasi-metric, moreover, the range $p\in(ω/(ω+η),1]$ is natural and optimal.

Intrinsic Structures of Certain Musielak-Orlicz Hardy Spaces

For any $p\in(0,\,1]$, let $H^{Φ_p}(\mathbb{R}^n)$ be the Musielak-Orlicz Hardy space associated with the Musielak-Orlicz growth function $Φ_p$, defined by setting, for any $x\in\mathbb{R}^n$ and $t\in[0,\,\infty)$, $$ Φ_{p}(x,\,t):= \begin{cases} \frac{t}{\log(e+t)+[t(1+|x|)^n]^{1-p}} & \qquad \text{when } n(1/p-1)\notin \mathbb{N} \cup \{0\}; \\ \frac{t}{\log(e+t)+[t(1+|x|)^n]^{1-p}[\log(e+|x|)]^p} & \qquad \text{when } n(1/p-1)\in \mathbb{N}\cup\{0\},\\ \end{cases} $$ which is the sharp target space of the bilinear decomposition of the product of the Hardy space $H^p(\mathbb{R}^n)$ and its dual. Moreover, $H^{Φ_1}(\mathbb{R}^n)$ is the prototype appearing in the real-variable theory of general Musielak-Orlicz Hardy spaces. In this article, the authors find a new structure of the space $H^{Φ_p}(\mathbb{R}^n)$ by showing that, for any $p\in(0,\,1]$, $H^{Φ_p}(\mathbb{R}^n)=H^{ϕ_0}(\mathbb{R}^n) +H_{W_p}^p(\mathbb{R}^n)$ and, for any $p\in(0,\,1)$, $H^{Φ_p}(\mathbb{R}^n)=H^{1}(\mathbb{R}^n) +H_{W_p}^p(\mathbb{R}^n)$, where $H^1(\mathbb{R}^n)$ denotes the classical real Hardy space, $H^{ϕ_0}(\mathbb{R}^n)$ the Orlicz-Hardy space associated with the Orlicz function $ϕ_0(t):=t/\log(e+t)$ for any $t\in [0,\infty)$ and $H_{W_p}^p(\mathbb{R}^n)$ the weighted Hardy space associated with certain weight function $W_p(x)$ that is comparable to $Φ_p(x,1)$ for any $x\in\mathbb{R}^n$. As an application, the authors further establish an interpolation theorem of quasilinear operators based on this new structure.

Besov-Type and Triebel--Lizorkin-Type Spaces Associated with Heat Kernels

Let $(M, ρ,μ)$ be an RD-space satisfying the non-collapsing condition. In this paper, the authors introduce Besov-type spaces $B_{p,q}^{s,τ}(M)$ and Triebel--Lizorkin-type spaces $F_{p,q}^{s,τ}(M)$ associated to a non-negative self-adjoint operator $L$ whose heat kernels satisfy some Gaussian upper bound estimate, Hölder continuity, and the stochastic completeness property. Characterizations of these spaces via Peetre maximal functions and heat kernels are established for full range of indices. Also, frame characterizations of these spaces are given. When $L$ is the Laplacian operator on $\mathbb R^n$, these spaces coincide with the Besov-type and Triebel-Lizorkin-type spaces on $\mathbb R^n$ studied in [Lecture Notes in Mathematics 2005, Springer-Verlag, Berlin, 2010]. In the case $τ=0$ and the smoothness index $s$ is around zero, comparisons of these spaces with the Besov and Triebel--Lizorkin spaces studied in [Abstr. Appl. Anal. 2008, Art. ID 893409, 250 pp] are also presented.

On the global Gaussian Lipschitz space

A Lipschitz space is defined in the Ornstein-Uhlenbeck setting, by means of a bound for the gradient of the Ornstein-Uhlenbeck Poisson integral. This space is then characterized with a Lipschitz-type continuity condition. These functions turn out to have at most logarithmic growth at infinity. The analogous Lipschitz space containing only bounded functions was introduced by Gatto and Urbina and has been characterized by the authors in \cite{LS}.

A $B_p$ condition for the strong maximal function

A strong version of the Orlicz maximal operator is introduced and a natural $B_p$ condition for the rectangle case is defined to characterize its boundedness. This fact let us to describe a sufficient condition for the two weight inequalities of the strong maximal function in terms of power and logarithmic bumps. Results for the multilinear version of this operator and for others multi(sub)linear maximal functions associated with bases of open sets are also studied.

Equivalent Characterizations for Boundedness of Maximal Singular Integrals on $ax+b$\,--Groups

Let $(S, d, ρ)$ be the affine group $\mathrm{R}^n \ltimes \mathrm{R}^+$ endowed with the left-invariant Riemannian metric $d$ and the right Haar measure $ρ$, which is of exponential growth at infinity. In this paper, for any linear operator $T$ on $(S, d, ρ)$ associated with a kernel $K$ satisfying certain integral size condition and Hörmander's condition, the authors prove that the following four statements regarding the corresponding maximal singular integral $T^\ast$ are equivalent: $T^\ast$ is bounded from $L_c^\infty$ to $\mathrm{BMO}$, $T^\ast$ is bounded on $L^p$ for all $p\in(1, \infty)$, $T^\ast$ is bounded on $L^p$ for certain $p\in(1, \infty)$ and $T^\ast$ is bounded from $L^1$ to $L^{1,\,\infty}$. As applications of these results, for spectral multipliers of a distinguished Laplacian on $(S, d, ρ)$ satisfying certain Mihlin-Hörmander type condition, the authors obtain that their maximal singular integrals are bounded from $L_c^\infty$ to $\mathrm{BMO}$, from $L^1$ to $L^{1,\,\infty}$, and on $L^p$ for all $p\in(1, \infty)$.

The multilinear strong maximal function

A multivariable version of the strong maximal function is introduced and a sharp distributional estimate for this operator in the spirit of the Jessen, Marcinkiewicz, and Zygmund theorem is obtained. Conditions that characterize the boundedness of this multivariable operator on products of weighted Lebesgue spaces equipped with multiple weights are obtained. Results for other multi(sub)linear maximal functions associated with bases of open sets are studied too. Certain bilinear interpolation results between distributional estimates, such as that obtained for the multivariable strong maximal function, are also proved.

Dyadic Sets, Maximal Functions and Applications on $ax+b$ --Groups

Let $S$ be the Lie group $\mathrm{R}^n\ltimes \mathrm{R}^+$ endowed with the left-invariant Riemannian symmetric space structure and the right Haar measure $ρ$, which is a Lie group of exponential growth. Hebisch and Steger in [Math. Z. 245(2003), 37--61] proved that any integrable function on $(S,ρ)$ admits a Calderón--Zygmund decomposition which involves a particular family of sets, called Calderón--Zygmund sets. In this paper, we first show the existence of a dyadic grid in the group $S$, which has {nice} properties similar to the classical Euclidean dyadic cubes. Using the properties of the dyadic grid we shall prove a Fefferman--Stein type inequality, involving the dyadic maximal Hardy--Littlewood function and the dyadic sharp dyadic function. As a consequence, we obtain a complex interpolation theorem involving the Hardy space $H^1$ and the $BMO$ space introduced in [Collect. Math. 60(2009), 277--295].

Characterizations of BMO Associated with Gauss Measures via Commutators of Local Fractional Integrals

Let $dγ(x)\equivπ^{-n/2}e^{-|x|^2}dx$ for all $x\in{\mathbb R}^n$ be the Gauss measure on ${\mathbb R}^n$. In this paper, the authors establish the characterizations of the space BMO$(γ)$ of Mauceri and Meda via commutators of either local fractional integral operators or local fractional maximal operators. To this end, the authors first prove that such a local fractional integral operator of order $β$ is bounded from $L^p(γ)$ to $L^{p/(1-pβ)}(γ)$, or from the Hardy space $H^1(γ)$ of Mauceri and Meda to $L^{1/(1-β)}(γ)$ or from $L^{1/β}(γ)$ to BMO$(γ)$, where $β\in(0, 1)$ and $p\in(1, 1/β)$.
