Cartesian closedness of the category of real-valued sets, II

Let $[0,1]_*$ be the unit interval $[0,1]$ equipped with a left-continuous t-norm $*$. We prove that $[0,1]_*\text{-}\mathbf{Set}$ is cartesian closed if and only if $*$ is the minimum t-norm. This extends the classification for continuous t-norms established in the first part of this work to the whole left-continuous setting.

Quantales as formal concept lattices

We establish a new bridge connecting quantales, semigroups and the theory of formal concept analysis. By introducing residuated relations whose domains are semigroups, we show that every quantale arises as the formal concept lattice induced by such a relation. Furthermore, this construction yields an equivalence between the category of quantales and a category of such residuated relations whose morphisms are multiplicative bonds.

ABE-CLIP: Training-Free Attribute Binding Enhancement for Compositional Image-Text Matching

Contrastive Language-Image Pretraining (CLIP) has achieved remarkable performance in various multimodal tasks. However, it still struggles with compositional image-text matching, particularly in accurately associating objects with their corresponding attributes, because its inherent global representation often overlooks fine-grained semantics for attribute binding. Existing methods often require additional training or extensive hard negative sampling, yet they frequently show limited generalization to novel compositional concepts and fail to fundamentally address the drawbacks of global representations. In this paper, we propose ABE-CLIP, a novel training-free Attribute Binding Enhancement method designed to strengthen attribute-object binding in CLIP-like models. Specifically, we employ a Semantic Refinement Mechanism to refine token embeddings for both object and attribute phrases in the text, thereby mitigating attribute confusion and improving semantic precision. We further introduce a Local Token-Patch Alignment strategy that computes similarity scores between refined textual tokens and their most relevant image patches. By aggregating localized similarity scores, ABE-CLIP computes the final image-text similarity. Experiments on multiple datasets demonstrate that ABE-CLIP significantly improves attribute-object binding performance, even surpassing methods that require extensive training.

Reducts of fuzzy contexts: Formal concept analysis vs. rough set theory

We postulate the intuitive idea of reducts of fuzzy contexts based on formal concept analysis and rough set theory. For a complete residuated lattice $L$, it is shown that reducts of $L$-contexts in formal concept analysis are interdefinable with reducts of $L$-contexts in rough set theory via negation if, and only if, $L$ satisfies the law of double negation.

On the probabilistic metrizability of approach spaces

We investigate approach spaces generated by probabilistic metric spaces with respect to a continuous t-norm $*$ on the unit interval $[0,1]$. Let $k^*$ be the supremum of the idempotent elements of $*$ in $[0,1)$. It is shown that if $k^*=1$ (resp. $k^*<1$), then an approach space is probabilistic metrizable with respect to $*$ if and only if it is probabilistic metrizable with respect to the minimum (resp. product) t-norm.

Quantale-valued maps and partial maps

Let $\mathsf{Q}$ be a commutative and unital quantale. By a $\mathsf{Q}$-map we mean a left adjoint in the quantaloid of sets and $\mathsf{Q}$-relations, and by a partial $\mathsf{Q}$-map we refer to a Kleisli morphism with respect to the maybe monad on the category $\mathsf{Q}\text{-}\mathbf{Map}$ of sets and $\mathsf{Q}$-maps. It is shown that every $\mathsf{Q}$-map is symmetric if and only if $\mathsf{Q}$ is weakly lean, and that every $\mathsf{Q}$-map is exactly a map in $\mathbf{Set}$ if and only $\mathsf{Q}$ is lean. Moreover, assuming the axiom of choice, it is shown that the category of sets and partial $\mathsf{Q}$-maps is monadic over $\mathsf{Q}\text{-}\mathbf{Map}$.

The powerset monad on quantale-valued sets

For a small involutive quantaloid $\mathcal{Q}$, it is shown that the category of separated complete $\mathcal{Q}$-categories and left adjoint $\mathcal{Q}$-functors is strictly monadic over the category of symmetric $\mathcal{Q}$-categories. In particular, the (covariant) powerset monad on the category of quantale-valued sets is precisely formulated.

Injective symmetric quantaloid-enriched categories

We characterize injective objects, injective hulls and essential embeddings in the category of symmetric categories enriched in a small, integral and involutive quantaloid. In particular, injective partial metric spaces are precisely formulated.

Random Sampling of Bandlimited Graph Signals from Local Measurements

The random sampling on graph signals is one of the fundamental topics in graph signal processing. In this letter, we consider the random sampling of k-bandlimited signals from the local measurements and show that no more than O(klogk) measurements with replacement are sufficient for the accurate and stable recovery of any k-bandlimited graph signals. We propose two random sampling strategies based on the minimum measurements, i.e., the optimal sampling and the estimated sampling. The geodesic distance between vertices is introduced to design the sampling probability distribution. Numerical experiments are included to show the effectiveness of the proposed methods.

Isbell adjunctions and Kan adjunctions via quantale-enriched two-variable adjunctions

It is shown that every two-variable adjunction in categories enriched in a commutative quantale serves as a base for constructing Isbell adjunctions between functor categories, and Kan adjunctions are precisely Isbell adjunctions constructed from suitable associated two-variable adjunctions. Representation theorems are established for fixed points of these adjunctions.

Density in categorical topology via quantaloid-enriched categories

Based on Garner's discovery that topological categories are total categories enriched in a quantaloid, this paper presents a series of results related to initial and final density in categorical topology via (co)density in quantaloid-enriched categories, focusing on (co-)Sierpiński objects, Galois correspondences and their fixed points.

Diagonals between $\mathcal{Q}$-distributors

For a small quantaloid $\mathcal{Q}$, it is shown that the category of $\mathcal{Q}$-distributors and diagonals is equivalent to a quotient category of the category of $\mathcal{Q}$-interior spaces and continuous $\mathcal{Q}$-distributors. Kan adjunctions induced by $\mathcal{Q}$-distributors play a crucial role in establishing this equivalence.

Fuzzy vectors via convex bodies

In the most accessible terms this paper presents a convex-geometric approach to the study of fuzzy vectors. Motivated by several key results from the theory of convex bodies, we establish a representation theorem of fuzzy vectors through support functions, in which a necessary and sufficient condition for a function to be the support function of a fuzzy vector is provided. As applications, symmetric and skew fuzzy vectors are postulated, based on which a Mareš core of each fuzzy vector is constructed through convex bodies and support functions, and it is shown that every fuzzy vector over the $n$-dimensional Euclidean space has a unique Mareš core if, and only if, the dimension $n=1$.

Multi-adjoint concept lattices via quantaloid-enriched categories

With quantaloids carefully constructed from multi-adjoint frames, it is shown that multi-adjoint concept lattices, multi-adjoint property-oriented concept lattices and multi-adjoint object-oriented concept lattices are derivable from Isbell adjunctions, Kan adjunctions and dual Kan adjunctions between quantaloid-enriched categories, respectively.

Quantale-valued dissimilarity

Inspired by the theory of apartness relations of Scott, we establish a positive theory of dissimilarity valued in an involutive quantale $\mathsf{Q}$ without the aid of negation. It is demonstrated that a set equipped with a $\mathsf{Q}$-valued dissimilarity is precisely a symmetric category enriched in a subquantaloid of the quantaloid of back diagonals of $\mathsf{Q}$. Interactions between $\mathsf{Q}$-valued dissimilarities and $\mathsf{Q}$-valued similarities (which are equivalent to $\mathsf{Q}$-valued equalities in the sense of H{ö}hle--Kubiak) are investigated with the help of lax functors. In particular, it is shown that similarities and dissimilarities are interdefinable if $\mathsf{Q}$ is a Girard quantale with a hermitian and cyclic dualizing element.
