Range Characterization of the Weighted Divergent Beam and Cone Integral Transforms

We establish range characterizations, or data consistency conditions, for an integral transform that maps a function to its weighted integrals over conical surfaces in $\mathbb{R}^n$. We consider two different geometries for the cone vertices, which lead to mathematically distinct range conditions. We use the term \emph{conical Radon transform} when the vertex set is a bounded convex subset of $\mathbb{R}^n$ including support of the input function. The second geometry is motivated by Compton camera imaging where the vertex set represents planar detector locations and is disjoint from the support of the input function representing the radiation density. We refer to the associated transform as the \emph{Compton transform}. Our approach is based on a factorization into the $k$-weighted divergent beam transform and the spherical section transform. In the bounded convex vertex geometry, the range of the divergent beam component is described by a higher-order transport boundary-value problem, as studied by Derevtsov, Volkov, and Schuster [7]. In the planar detector geometry, we derive range conditions for the $k$-weighted divergent beam transform that generalize the planar cone-beam consistency conditions of Clackdoyle and Desbat [5]. Combining these results with the range characterization of the spherical section transform yields complete range descriptions for both the $k$-weighted conical Radon transform and the $k$-weighted Compton transform.

Rigidity of homogeneous Lam\'e systems

In this short paper, we show that any Lam\'e system whose Dirichlet-to-Neumann map for the elastic wave equation agrees with the one arising from the homogeneous Lam\'e system must actually be homogeneous. We do not need to impose any assumptions for the Lam\'e coefficients that we aim to recover. We use the fact that the homogeneous system gives rise to a geometry that is both simple and admits a strictly convex foliation.

The higher-order fractional Schr\"odinger equation with nonlinear local perturbations: Uniqueness

We study the higher-order fractional Schr\"odinger equation with local nonlinear perturbations and investigate both the forward and inverse problems. We establish both the Sobolev $H^s$ and H\"older $C^s$ estimates for the well-posedness of the nonlinear problem, based on the corresponding estimates derived for the linear fractional Schr\"odinger equation. For the inverse problem, we show that the local nonlinear perturbations can be uniquely determined from the Dirichlet-to-Neumann map, by using the higher-order linearization and the unique continuation property of the fractional Laplace operator.

Entanglement principle and fractional Calder\'on problem for nonlocal parabolic operators

We examine inverse problems for the variable-coefficient nonlocal parabolic operator $(\partial_t - \Delta_g)^s$, where $0 < s < 1$. This article makes two primary contributions. First, we introduce a novel entanglement principle for these operators under suitable smoothness conditions. Second, we prove that lower-order perturbations can be uniquely determined from the associated Dirichlet-to-Neumann map using this principle. However, due to insufficient solution regularity, direct application of the entanglement principle to the inverse problem is not feasible. To address this, we derive a modified entanglement principle, enabling the effective resolution of related inverse problems.

H\"older stability of an inverse spectral problem for the magnetic Schr\"odinger operator on a simple manifold

We show that on a simple Riemannian manifold, the electric potential and the solenoidal part of the magnetic potential appearing in the magnetic Schr\"odinger operator can be recovered H\"older stably from the boundary spectral data. This data contains the eigenvalues and the Neumann traces of the corresponding sequence of Dirichlet eigenfunctions of the operator. Our proof contains two parts, which we present in the reverse order. (1) We show that the boundary spectral data can be stably obtained from the Dirichlet-to-Neumann map associated with the respective initial boundary value problem for a hyperbolic equation, whose leading order terms are a priori known. (2) We construct geometric optics solutions to the hyperbolic equation, which reduce the stable recovery of the lower order terms to the stable inversion of the geodesic ray transform of one-forms and functions.

Efficient hybrid variational quantum algorithm for solving graph coloring problem

In the era of Noisy Intermediate Scale Quantum (NISQ) computing, available quantum resources are limited. Many NP-hard problems can be efficiently addressed using hybrid classical and quantum computational methods. This paper proposes a hybrid variational quantum algorithm designed to solve the $k$-coloring problem of graph vertices. The hybrid classical and quantum algorithms primarily partition the graph into multiple subgraphs through hierarchical techniques. The Quantum Approximate Optimization Algorithm (QAOA) is employed to determine the coloring within the subgraphs, while a classical greedy algorithm is utilized to find the coloring of the interaction graph. Fixed coloring is applied to the interaction graph, and feedback is provided to correct any conflicting colorings within the subgraphs. The merging process into the original graph is iteratively optimized to resolve any arising conflicts. We employ a hierarchical framework that integrates feedback correction and conflict resolution to achieve $k$-coloring of arbitrary graph vertices. Through experimental analysis, we demonstrate the effectiveness of the algorithm, highlighting the rapid convergence of conflict evolution and the fact that iterative optimization allows the classical algorithm to approximate the number of colorings. Finally, we apply the proposed algorithm to optimize the scheduling of a subway transportation network, demonstrating a high degree of fairness.

Partial data inverse problems for the nonlinear magnetic Schr\"odinger equation

In this paper, we study the partial data inverse problem for nonlinear magnetic Schr\"odinger equations. We show that the knowledge of the Dirichlet-to-Neumann map, measured on an arbitrary part of the boundary, determines the time-dependent linear coefficients, electric and magnetic potentials, and nonlinear coefficients, provided that the divergence of the magnetic potential is given. Additionally, we also investigate both the forward and inverse problems for the linear magnetic Schr\"odinger equation with a time-dependent leading term. In particular, all coefficients are uniquely recovered from boundary data.

Recovery of a time-dependent potential in hyperbolic equations on conformally transversally anisotropic manifolds

We study an inverse problem of determining a time-dependent potential appearing in the wave equation in conformally transversally anisotropic manifolds of dimension three or higher. These are compact Riemannian manifolds with boundary that are conformally embedded in a product of the real line and a transversal manifold. Under the assumption of the attenuated geodesic ray transform being injective on the transversal manifold, we prove the unique determination of time-dependent potentials from the knowledge of a certain partial Cauchy data set.

Stable determination of time-dependent collision kernel in the nonlinear Boltzmann equation

We consider an inverse problem for the nonlinear Boltzmann equation with a time-dependent kernel in dimensions $n\ge 2$. We establish a logarithm-type stability result for the collision kernel from measurements under certain additional conditions. A uniqueness result is derived as an immediate consequence of the stability result. Our approach relies on second-order linearization, multivariate finite differences, as well as the stability of the light-ray transform.

Partial data inverse problem for hyperbolic equation with time-dependent damping coefficient and potential

We study an inverse problem of determining a time-dependent damping coefficient and potential appearing in the wave equation in a compact Riemannian manifold of dimension three or higher. More specifically, we are concerned with the case of conformally transversally anisotropic manifolds, or in other words, compact Riemannian manifolds with boundary conformally embedded in a product of the Euclidean line and a transversal manifold. With an additional assumption of the attenuated geodesic ray transform being injective on the transversal manifold, we prove that the knowledge of a certain partial Cauchy data set determines time-dependent damping coefficient and potential uniquely.

TcGAN: Semantic-Aware and Structure-Preserved GANs with Individual Vision Transformer for Fast Arbitrary One-Shot Image Generation

One-shot image generation (OSG) with generative adversarial networks that learn from the internal patches of a given image has attracted world wide attention. In recent studies, scholars have primarily focused on extracting features of images from probabilistically distributed inputs with pure convolutional neural networks (CNNs). However, it is quite difficult for CNNs with limited receptive domain to extract and maintain the global structural information. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a novel structure-preserved method TcGAN with individual vision transformer to overcome the shortcomings of the existing one-shot image generation methods. Specifically, TcGAN preserves global structure of an image during training to be compatible with local details while maintaining the integrity of semantic-aware information by exploiting the powerful long-range dependencies modeling capability of the transformer. We also propose a new scaling formula having scale-invariance during the calculation period, which effectively improves the generated image quality of the OSG model on image super-resolution tasks. We present the design of the TcGAN converter framework, comprehensive experimental as well as ablation studies demonstrating the ability of TcGAN to achieve arbitrary image generation with the fastest running time. Lastly, TcGAN achieves the most excellent performance in terms of applying it to other image processing tasks, e.g., super-resolution as well as image harmonization, the results further prove its superiority.

Partial data inverse problems for magnetic Schr\"odinger operators on conformally transversally anisotropic manifolds

We study inverse boundary problems for the magnetic Schr\"odinger operator with H\"older continuous magnetic potentials and continuous electric potentials on a conformally transversally anisotropic Riemannian manifold of dimension n greater than or equal to three with connected boundary. A global uniqueness result is established for magnetic fields and electric potentials from the partial Cauchy data on the boundary of the manifold provided that the geodesic X-ray transform on the transversal manifold is injective.

Reconstructing a potential perturbation of the biharmonic operator on transversally anisotropic manifolds

We prove that a continuous potential $q$ can be constructively determined from the knowledge of the Dirichlet-to-Neumann map for the perturbed biharmonic operator $Δ_g^2+q$ on a conformally transversally anisotropic Riemannian manifold of dimension $\ge 3$ with boundary, assuming that the geodesic ray transform on the transversal manifold is constructively invertible. This is a constructive counterpart of the uniqueness result of [51]. In particular, our result is applicable and new in the case of smooth bounded domains in the $3$-dimensional Euclidean space as well as in the case of $3$-dimensional admissible manifolds.

We study inverse boundary problems for first order perturbations of the biharmonic operator on a conformally transversally anisotropic Riemannian manifold of dimension $n \ge 3$. We show that a continuous first order perturbation can be determined uniquely from the knowledge of the set of the Cauchy data on the boundary of the manifold provided that the geodesic $X$-ray transform on the transversal manifold is injective.
