On Isomorphic K-rational Groups of Isogenous Elliptic Curves over Finite Fields

We show that two ordinary isogenous elliptic curves have isomorphic groups of rational points if they have the same $j$-invariant and we extend this result to certain isogenous supersingular elliptic curves, namely those with equal $j$-invariant of either 0 or 1728. Using a result by Heuberger and Mazzoli we establish a general case of this relationship within isogenous elliptic curves not necessarily having equal $j$-invariant.

The Polynomial Learning With Errors Problem and the Smearing Condition

As quantum computing advances rapidly, guaranteeing the security of cryptographic protocols resistant to quantum attacks is paramount. Some leading candidate cryptosystems use the Learning with Errors (LWE) problem, attractive for its simplicity and hardness guaranteed by reductions from hard computational lattice problems. Its algebraic variants, Ring-Learning with Errors (RLWE) and Polynomial Learning with Errors (PLWE), gain in efficiency over standard LWE, but their security remains to be thoroughly investigated. In this work, we consider the "smearing" condition, a condition for attacks on PLWE and RLWE introduced in [6]. We expand upon some questions about smearing posed by Elias et al. in [6] and show how smearing is related to the Coupon Collector's Problem Furthermore, we develop some practical algorithms for calculating probabilities related to smearing. Finally, we present a smearing-based attack on PLWE, and demonstrate its effectiveness.

Selective versions of $θ$-density

In [8] the authors initiate the study of selective versions of the notion of $θ$-separability in non-regular spaces. In this paper we continue this investigation by establishing connections between the familiar cardinal numbers arising in the set theory of the real line, and game-theoretic assertions regarding $θ$-separability.

Meager Sets, Games and Singular Cardinals

We show that a statement concerning the existence of winning strategies of limited memory in an infinite two-person topological game is equivalent to a weak version of the Singular Cardinals Hypothesis.

Anomalous Primes and the Elliptic Korselt Criterion

We explore the relationship between elliptic Korselt numbers of Type I, a class of pseudoprimes introduced by Silverman in [20], and anomalous primes. We generalize a result in [20] that gives sufficient conditions for an elliptic Korselt number of Type I to be a product of anomalous primes. Finally, we prove that almost all elliptic Korselt numbers of Type I of the form n=pq are a product of anomalous primes

Elliptic Reciprocity

The paper introduces the notions of an elliptic pair, an elliptic cycle and an elliptic list over a square free positive integer d. These concepts are related to the notions of amicable pairs of primes and aliquot cycles that were introduced by Silverman and Stange. Settling a matter left open by Silverman and Stange it is shown that for d=3 there are elliptic cycles of length 6. For d not equal to 3 the question of the existence of proper elliptic lists of length n over d is reduced to the the theory of prime producing quadratic polynomials. For d=163 a proper elliptic list of length 40 is exhibited. It is shown that for each d there is an upper bound on the length of a proper elliptic list over d. The final section of the paper contains heuristic arguments supporting conjectured asymptotics for the number of elliptic pairs below integer X. Finally, for d congruent to 3 modulo 8 the existence of infinitely many anomalous prime numbers is derived from Bunyakowski's Conjecture for quadratic polynomials.

Selective strong screenability and a game

Selective versions of screenability and of strong screenability coincide in a large class of spaces. We show that the corresponding games are not equivalent in even such standard metric spaces as the closed unit interval. We identify sufficient conditions for ONE to have a winning strategy, and necessary conditions for TWO to have a winning strategy in the selective strong screenability game

A simplified and generalized treatment of DES related ciphers

This work is a study of DES-like ciphers where the bitwise exclusive-or (XOR) operation in the underlying Feistel network is replaced by an arbitrary group operation. We construct a two round simplified version of DES that contains all the DES components and show that its set of encryption permutations is not a group under functional composition, it is not a pure cipher and its set of encryption permutations does not generate the alternating group. We present a non-computational proof that for n\leq6 the set of n-round Feistel permutations over an arbitrary group do not constitute a group under functional composition.

Weak covering properties and infinite games

We investigate game-theoretic properties of selection principles related to weaker forms of the Menger and Rothberger properties. For appropriate spaces some of these selection principles are characterized in terms of a corresponding game. We use generic extensions by Cohen reals to illustrate the necessity of some of the hypotheses in our theorems.

Weakly infinite dimensional subsets of R^N

The Continuum Hypothesis implies an Erdös-Sierpiński like duality between the ideal of first category subsets of $\reals^{\naturals}$, and the ideal of countable dimensional subsets of $\reals^{\naturals}$. The algebraic sum of a Hurewicz subset - a dimension theoretic analogue of Sierpinski sets and Lusin sets - of $\reals^{\naturals}$ with any compactly countable dimensional subset of $\reals^{\naturals}$ has first category.

Selective screenability in topological groups

We examine the selective screenability property in topological groups. In the metrizable case we also give characterizations in terms of the Haver property and finitary Haver property respectively relative to left-invariant metrics. We prove theorems stating conditions under which the properties are preserved by products. Among metrizable groups we characterize the ones of countable covering dimension by a natural game.

Selective screenability and the Hurewicz property

We characterize the Hurewicz covering property in metrizable spaces in terms of properties of the metrics of the space. Then we show that a weak version of selective screenability, when combined with the Hurewicz property, implies selective screenability.

Products and selection principles

The product of a Sierpinski set and a Lusin set has Menger's property. The product of a gamma set and a Lusin set has Rothberger's property.
