Multi-Programming Language Sandbox for LLMs

We introduce MPLSandbox, an out-of-the-box multi-programming language sandbox designed to provide unified and comprehensive feedback from compiler and analysis tools for Large Language Models (LLMs). It can automatically identify the programming language of the code, compiling and executing it within an isolated sub-sandbox to ensure safety and stability. In addition, MPLSandbox also integrates both traditional and LLM-based code analysis tools, providing a comprehensive analysis of generated code. MPLSandbox can be effortlessly integrated into the training and deployment of LLMs to improve the quality and correctness of their generated code. It also helps researchers streamline their workflows for various LLM-based code-related tasks, reducing the development cost. To validate the effectiveness of MPLSandbox, we integrate it into training and deployment approaches, and also employ it to optimize workflows for a wide range of real-world code-related tasks. Our goal is to enhance researcher productivity on LLM-based code-related tasks by simplifying and automating workflows through delegation to MPLSandbox.

Matrix integrals over unitary groups: An application of Schur-Weyl duality

The integral formulae pertaining to the unitary group $\mathsf{U}(d)$ have been comprehensively reviewed, yielding fresh results and innovative proofs. Central to the derivation of these formulae lies the employment of Schur-Weyl duality, a classical and powerful theorem from the representation theory of groups. This duality serves as a bridge, establishing a profound connection between the representation theory of finite groups (or permutation groups) and that of classical Lie groups, specifically the unitary groups. From the perspective of Schur-Weyl duality, it becomes evident that the computation of matrix integrals over the unitary group is intricately intertwined with the so-called Weingarten function. The explicit evaluation of this function is heavily dependent on three crucial aspects: firstly, the dimensions of the irreducible representations of the unitary groups; secondly, the dimensions of the irreducible representations of permutation groups; and thirdly, the irreducible characters of permutation groups. For the first two aspects, we can rely on well-established formulae. Specifically, the dimensions of irreducible representations of both unitary and permutation groups can be determined using the hook-length formula attributed to Frame, Robinson, and Thrall, as well as the hook-content formula proposed by Stanley. However, the third aspect poses a more intricate challenge. Unfortunately, despite significant efforts, there remains no unifying closed-form formula for the generic irreducible characters of permutation groups, except for a few special cases involving particular partitions. Given the significance of these irreducible characters, it is crucial to have a comprehensive understanding of them. Fortunately, all the information pertaining to the irreducible characters belonging to a given permutation group is encoded in a so-called character table......

A Stock Price Prediction Approach Based on Time Series Decomposition and Multi-Scale CNN using OHLCT Images

Recently, deep learning in stock prediction has become an important branch. Image-based methods show potential by capturing complex visual patterns and spatial correlations, offering advantages in interpretability over time series models. However, image-based approaches are more prone to overfitting, hindering robust predictive performance. To improve accuracy, this paper proposes a novel method, named Sequence-based Multi-scale Fusion Regression Convolutional Neural Network (SMSFR-CNN), for predicting stock price movements in the China A-share market. By utilizing CNN to learn sequential features and combining them with image features, we improve the accuracy of stock trend prediction on the A-share market stock dataset. This approach reduces the search space for image features, stabilizes, and accelerates the training process. Extensive comparative experiments on 4,454 A-share stocks show that the model achieves a 61.15% positive predictive value and a 63.37% negative predictive value for the next 5 days, resulting in a total profit of 165.09%.

A new exceptional point condition for coupled microresonators with coupled mode theory in space

We derive new exceptional point (EP) conditions of the coupled microring resonators using coupled mode theory in space, a more accurate approach than the commonly used coupled mode theory in time. Transmission spectra around EPs obtained from the two models have been compared on two material platforms, revealing non-negligible deviations. Our analysis provides a guide for accurately determining parameter sets of coupled microrings at EPs and deepens our understanding on parity-time-symmetric coupled resonators at EPs.

Efficiently Quantifying and Mitigating Ripple Effects in Model Editing

Large Language Models have revolutionized numerous tasks with their remarkable efficacy. However, editing these models, crucial for rectifying outdated or erroneous information, often leads to a complex issue known as the ripple effect in the hidden space. While difficult to detect, this effect can significantly impede the efficacy of model editing tasks and deteriorate model performance. This paper addresses this scientific challenge by proposing a novel evaluation methodology, Graphical Impact Evaluation(GIE), which quantitatively evaluates the adaptations of the model and the subsequent impact of editing. Furthermore, we introduce the Selective Impact Revision(SIR), a model editing method designed to mitigate this ripple effect. Our comprehensive evaluations reveal that the ripple effect in the hidden space is a significant issue in all current model editing methods. However, our proposed methods, GIE and SIR, effectively identify and alleviate this issue, contributing to the advancement of LLM editing techniques.

Provably Uncertainty-Guided Universal Domain Adaptation

Universal domain adaptation (UniDA) aims to transfer the knowledge from a labeled source domain to an unlabeled target domain without any assumptions of the label sets, which requires distinguishing the unknown samples from the known ones in the target domain. A main challenge of UniDA is that the nonidentical label sets cause the misalignment between the two domains. Moreover, the domain discrepancy and the supervised objectives in the source domain easily lead the whole model to be biased towards the common classes and produce overconfident predictions for unknown samples. To address the above challenging problems, we propose a new uncertainty-guided UniDA framework. Firstly, we introduce an empirical estimation of the probability of a target sample belonging to the unknown class which fully exploits the distribution of the target samples in the latent space. Then, based on the estimation, we propose a novel neighbors searching scheme in a linear subspace with a $δ$-filter to estimate the uncertainty score of a target sample and discover unknown samples. It fully utilizes the relationship between a target sample and its neighbors in the source domain to avoid the influence of domain misalignment. Secondly, this paper well balances the confidences of predictions for both known and unknown samples through an uncertainty-guided margin loss based on the confidences of discovered unknown samples, which can reduce the gap between the intra-class variances of known classes with respect to the unknown class. Finally, experiments on three public datasets demonstrate that our method significantly outperforms existing state-of-the-art methods.

CA-MHFA: A Context-Aware Multi-Head Factorized Attentive Pooling for SSL-Based Speaker Verification

Self-supervised learning (SSL) models for speaker verification (SV) have gained significant attention in recent years. However, existing SSL-based SV systems often struggle to capture local temporal dependencies and generalize across different tasks. In this paper, we propose context-aware multi-head factorized attentive pooling (CA-MHFA), a lightweight framework that incorporates contextual information from surrounding frames. CA-MHFA leverages grouped, learnable queries to effectively model contextual dependencies while maintaining efficiency by sharing keys and values across groups. Experimental results on the VoxCeleb dataset show that CA-MHFA achieves EERs of 0.42\%, 0.48\%, and 0.96\% on Vox1-O, Vox1-E, and Vox1-H, respectively, outperforming complex models like WavLM-TDNN with fewer parameters and faster convergence. Additionally, CA-MHFA demonstrates strong generalization across multiple SSL models and tasks, including emotion recognition and anti-spoofing, highlighting its robustness and versatility.

High harmonic spectroscopy reveals anisotropy of the Mott to Charge-Density-Wave phase transition in TiSe$_2$

This work explores the use of polarization-resolved high harmonic generation (HHG) spectroscopy to investigate the quantum phases and transitions in the correlated charge density wave (CDW) phase of TiSe$_2$. Unlike previous studies focusing on crystallographic changes, the research examines the reordering that occurs within the CDW phase as the material is cooled from room temperature to 14 K. By linking ultrafast field-driven dynamics to the material's potential landscape, the study demonstrates how HHG is sensitive to quantum phase transitions. The findings reveal an anisotropic component below the CDW transition temperature, providing new insights into the nature of this phase. The investigation highlights the interplay between linear and nonlinear optical responses and their departure from simple perturbative dynamics, offering a fresh perspective on correlated quantum phases in condensed matter systems.

BUT Systems and Analyses for the ASVspoof 5 Challenge

This paper describes the BUT submitted systems for the ASVspoof 5 challenge, along with analyses. For the conventional deepfake detection task, we use ResNet18 and self-supervised models for the closed and open conditions, respectively. In addition, we analyze and visualize different combinations of speaker information and spoofing information as label schemes for training. For spoofing-robust automatic speaker verification (SASV), we introduce effective priors and propose using logistic regression to jointly train affine transformations of the countermeasure scores and the automatic speaker verification scores in such a way that the SASV LLR is optimized.

GaussianForest: Hierarchical-Hybrid 3D Gaussian Splatting for Compressed Scene Modeling

The field of novel-view synthesis has recently witnessed the emergence of 3D Gaussian Splatting, which represents scenes in a point-based manner and renders through rasterization. This methodology, in contrast to Radiance Fields that rely on ray tracing, demonstrates superior rendering quality and speed. However, the explicit and unstructured nature of 3D Gaussians poses a significant storage challenge, impeding its broader application. To address this challenge, we introduce the Gaussian-Forest modeling framework, which hierarchically represents a scene as a forest of hybrid 3D Gaussians. Each hybrid Gaussian retains its unique explicit attributes while sharing implicit ones with its sibling Gaussians, thus optimizing parameterization with significantly fewer variables. Moreover, adaptive growth and pruning strategies are designed, ensuring detailed representation in complex regions and a notable reduction in the number of required Gaussians. Extensive experiments demonstrate that Gaussian-Forest not only maintains comparable speed and quality but also achieves a compression rate surpassing 10 times, marking a significant advancement in efficient scene modeling. Codes will be available at https://github.com/Xian-Bei/GaussianForest.

Audio-Synchronized Visual Animation

Current visual generation methods can produce high quality videos guided by texts. However, effectively controlling object dynamics remains a challenge. This work explores audio as a cue to generate temporally synchronized image animations. We introduce Audio Synchronized Visual Animation (ASVA), a task animating a static image to demonstrate motion dynamics, temporally guided by audio clips across multiple classes. To this end, we present AVSync15, a dataset curated from VGGSound with videos featuring synchronized audio visual events across 15 categories. We also present a diffusion model, AVSyncD, capable of generating dynamic animations guided by audios. Extensive evaluations validate AVSync15 as a reliable benchmark for synchronized generation and demonstrate our models superior performance. We further explore AVSyncDs potential in a variety of audio synchronized generation tasks, from generating full videos without a base image to controlling object motions with various sounds. We hope our established benchmark can open new avenues for controllable visual generation. More videos on project webpage https://lzhangbj.github.io/projects/asva/asva.html.

GAPNet: Granularity Attention Network with Anatomy-Prior-Constraint for Carotid Artery Segmentation

Atherosclerosis is a chronic, progressive disease that primarily affects the arterial walls. It is one of the major causes of cardiovascular disease. Magnetic Resonance (MR) black-blood vessel wall imaging (BB-VWI) offers crucial insights into vascular disease diagnosis by clearly visualizing vascular structures. However, the complex anatomy of the neck poses challenges in distinguishing the carotid artery (CA) from surrounding structures, especially with changes like atherosclerosis. In order to address these issues, we propose GAPNet, which is a consisting of a novel geometric prior deduced from.

Do End-to-End Neural Diarization Attractors Need to Encode Speaker Characteristic Information?

In this paper, we apply the variational information bottleneck approach to end-to-end neural diarization with encoder-decoder attractors (EEND-EDA). This allows us to investigate what information is essential for the model. EEND-EDA utilizes attractors, vector representations of speakers in a conversation. Our analysis shows that, attractors do not necessarily have to contain speaker characteristic information. On the other hand, giving the attractors more freedom to allow them to encode some extra (possibly speaker-specific) information leads to small but consistent diarization performance improvements. Despite architectural differences in EEND systems, the notion of attractors and frame embeddings is common to most of them and not specific to EEND-EDA. We believe that the main conclusions of this work can apply to other variants of EEND. Thus, we hope this paper will be a valuable contribution to guide the community to make more informed decisions when designing new systems.

Orbit symmetry breaking in MXene implements enhanced soft bioelectronic implants

Bioelectronic implants with soft mechanics, biocompatibility, and excellent electrical performance enable biomedical implants to record electrophysiological signals and execute interventions within internal organs, promising to revolutionize the diagnosing, monitoring, and treatment of various pathological conditions. However, challenges remain in improving excessive impedance at the bioelectronic-tissue interface and thus the efficacy of electrophysiological signaling and intervention. Here, we devise orbit symmetry breaking in MXene (a low-cost scalability, biocompatible, and conductive 2D layered material, that we refer to as OBXene), that exhibits low bioelectronic-tissue impedance, originating from the out-of-plane charge transfer. Furthermore, the Schottky-induced piezoelectricity stemming from the asymmetric orbital configuration of OBXene facilitates interlayered charge transport in the device. In this study, we report an OBXene-based cardiac patch applied on the left ventricular epicardium of both rodent and porcine models to enable spatiotemporal epicardium mapping and pacing, while coupling the wireless and battery-free operation for long-term real-time recording and closed-loop stimulation.

Lightweight Model Pre-training via Language Guided Knowledge Distillation

This paper studies the problem of pre-training for small models, which is essential for many mobile devices. Current state-of-the-art methods on this problem transfer the representational knowledge of a large network (as a Teacher) into a smaller model (as a Student) using self-supervised distillation, improving the performance of the small model on downstream tasks. However, existing approaches are insufficient in extracting the crucial knowledge that is useful for discerning categories in downstream tasks during the distillation process. In this paper, for the first time, we introduce language guidance to the distillation process and propose a new method named Language-Guided Distillation (LGD) system, which uses category names of the target downstream task to help refine the knowledge transferred between the teacher and student. To this end, we utilize a pre-trained text encoder to extract semantic embeddings from language and construct a textual semantic space called Textual Semantics Bank (TSB). Furthermore, we design a Language-Guided Knowledge Aggregation (LGKA) module to construct the visual semantic space, also named Visual Semantics Bank (VSB). The task-related knowledge is transferred by driving a student encoder to mimic the similarity score distribution inferred by a teacher over TSB and VSB. Compared with other small models obtained by either ImageNet pre-training or self-supervised distillation, experiment results show that the distilled lightweight model using the proposed LGD method presents state-of-the-art performance and is validated on various downstream tasks, including classification, detection, and segmentation. We have made the code available at https://github.com/mZhenz/LGD.

$\text{H}^2\text{TNE}$: Temporal Heterogeneous Information Network Embedding in Hyperbolic Spaces

Temporal heterogeneous information network (temporal HIN) embedding, aiming to represent various types of nodes of different timestamps into low dimensional spaces while preserving structural and semantic information, is of vital importance in diverse real-life tasks. Researchers have made great efforts on temporal HIN embedding in Euclidean spaces and got some considerable achievements. However, there is always a fundamental conflict that many real-world networks show hierarchical property and power-law distribution, and are not isometric of Euclidean spaces. Recently, representation learning in hyperbolic spaces has been proved to be valid for data with hierarchical and power-law structure. Inspired by this character, we propose a hyperbolic heterogeneous temporal network embedding ($\text{H}^2\text{TNE}$) model for temporal HINs. Specifically, we leverage a temporally and heterogeneously double-constrained random walk strategy to capture the structural and semantic information, and then calculate the embedding by exploiting hyperbolic distance in proximity measurement. Experimental results show that our method has superior performance on temporal link prediction and node classification compared with SOTA models.

Spoof Diarization: "What Spoofed When" in Partially Spoofed Audio

This paper defines Spoof Diarization as a novel task in the Partial Spoof (PS) scenario. It aims to determine what spoofed when, which includes not only locating spoof regions but also clustering them according to different spoofing methods. As a pioneering study in spoof diarization, we focus on defining the task, establishing evaluation metrics, and proposing a benchmark model, namely the Countermeasure-Condition Clustering (3C) model. Utilizing this model, we first explore how to effectively train countermeasures to support spoof diarization using three labeling schemes. We then utilize spoof localization predictions to enhance the diarization performance. This first study reveals the high complexity of the task, even in restricted scenarios where only a single speaker per audio file and an oracle number of spoofing methods are considered. Our code is available at https://github.com/nii-yamagishilab/PartialSpoof.
